They wave a magic wand, and the universe bends to their whim. At the end of each day, they rest their weary heads blissfully - willfully - unaware of the damage they cause. Before she was wielding the iron fist of power granted to her by Obamacare, she was the Kansas’ governor and, before that, the Kansas insurance commissioner. Health insurance mandates were her stock in trade, and with...

(CNSNews.com) – Health and Human Services (HHS) Secretary Kathleen Sebelius said on Thursday that Obamacare had made it possible for a 25-year-old law student to devote her career to working on social justice issues instead of working for a big law firm. At Rev. Al Sharpton’s 14th annual NAN conference, Sebelius touted the Administration’s health care overhaul, which she also said was responsible for helping close racial and ethnic health gaps in the country. “Because of the steps we’ve taken there are 410,000 African American young adults across the country who were uninsured but now have insurance coverage under their...

America is in the midst of a gravely serious debate about religious liberty. It was touched off by news that President Obama's health-care law will coerce some religious groups to violate conscience by covering certain products and services in their health plans or face steep fines. Sadly, liberals have conjured up distractions from this critical constitutional issue. They're charging defenders of the First Amendment with waging a "war on women." Yes, it's an absurd stretch. So is the claim that defending employers' ability to manage their own health plans - free from the dictates of the health-care law - amounts...

You know Kathleen Sebelius well. She's Secretary of Health and Human Services, which, among other things, makes her in charge of implementing Obamacare. You'd think she'd know the law inside and out, and that she'd be able to at least semi-coherently answer questions about it at a Senate hearing. But when Sen. The most damning exchange occurs when he asks her about healthcare waivers, which would exempt certain employers from having...

If there is one word that captures the Orwellian nature of contemporary feminism, it is "choice." It's not just the word's wide use as a euphemism for abortion. You can understand why people on that side of the abortion issue prefer to frame their position in abstract terms, as a defense of liberty, rather than concretely discussing the specific freedom they are defending. Some of them are no doubt sincere in saying that they favor "the right to choose" in general and have no brief for abortion in particular. But not all. People who claim to favor "reproductive choice" are...

Two Weeks After it is Learned that the Sebelius Administration destroyed key evidence against Planned Parenthood it is learned that four years later a Sebelius appointed official destroyed copies of that evidence. Evidence destruction apparently routine in the Sebelius Administration. As a result, only felony charges ever filed against Planned Parenthood are dismissed. – The news of document destruction in Kansas does not come as a surprise for me. Rather, after a decade of obstruction, the latest indicates that the evidence of Kansas corruption to protect Planned Parenthood is leaking into the media. Two weeks ago a hearing in a...

If there is one rule about government contracts, it is that the process is to be impartial. The United States Health and Human Services Department, headed by the anti Catholic Catholic Kathleen Sebelius, doesn’t do impartiality. At least when it comes to the Church.

Here are some highlights from HHS Secretary Kathleen Sebelius's conference call with reporters Monday morning to talk about President Obama's new executive order, which is intended to provide more medicine to treat deadly diseases: -- Obama "felt the executive order was the most appropriate way to highlight the problem and actually call for a collaborative approach to solve the problem on behalf of patients in this country," Sebelius said. -- "Within the drug shortage program itself, we are planning to effectively double the staff, and we expect that they will be kept busy working on the additional information that we...

Another layer to the depth of the Sebelius abortion corruption has been revealed with today’s AP report that Kansas health department (KDHE) in 2005 destroyed the state late-term abortion reports at the heart of the felony charges against Planned Parenthood. The pre-trial hearing for felony “false-writing” charges had been scheduled for Monday Oct. 24, Since the original reports have now been discovered as destroyed, the Johnson County District attorney’s office had asked for a delay so they could engage other witnesses to verify the authenticity of copies of the state reports. The state reports are verifications that abortionists send to...

A politically-charged panel in Kansas has stripped the law license of pro-life attorney and former Kansas Attorney General Phill Kline for prosecuting the Planned Parenthood abortion business. A professional ethics panel recommended Thursday that Kline has his law license indefinitely suspended because of his conduct during criminal investigations of the abortion business, claiming he was “motivated by dishonesty and selfishness.” The three member panel of the state Board for Discipline of Attorneys claimed Kline repeatedly misled officials or allowed his staffers to do so. The panel weighed nine counts of alleged ethical violations before the Kansas Attorney Disciplinary Board in...

The President’s Health-Care Law’s House of Cards Begins to Crumble WASHINGTON – Today, House Budget Committee Chairman Paul Ryan of Wisconsin issued the following statement regarding the Obama Administration’s decision to discontinue a key component of its health-care law: “To hide the true cost of their health-care overhaul, the leaders of the Democratic party loaded it with gimmicks and double-counting. One of the most egregious of these gimmicks involved the CLASS Act, a new long-term care program that was scored as an offset against the ten-year, trillion-dollar cost of the Democrats new law. Independent health care experts warned that the...

The Obama administration will not implement a controversial piece of the healthcare reform law, Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius said Friday. Sebelius said the department will not continue trying to implement the CLASS program, which was intended to provide insurance for long-term care. Republicans charged that the program’s financial structure was unsustainable, and Sebelius conceded as much Friday. “We have not identified a way to make CLASS work at this time,” she wrote on the Huffington Post's website. Sebelius said HHS will “suspend” implementation of the program. The department recently reassigned the people it had placed in the...

The new requirement would be implemented through the Affordable Care Act. Sebelius asked that birth control be included in a list of preventative care services to be...

HHS's Plans To Contracept Conscience Rights The United States Conference of Catholic Bishops urges faithful Catholics, friends of conscience rights, enemies of government tyranny, and people of good will to protest the U.S. Dept. of Health and Human Services proposed diktat that private health plans cover contraception (including abortifacients) as preventive services for women. HHS Secretary Kathleen Sebelius has issued interim final rules mandating this outcome pursuant to the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, i.e., ObamaCare. There's no doubt that these "preventive services" prevent fecundation or implantation in the women who avail themselves of them. In the case of...

Last week, a report from a Republican working group revealed that administration officials, in the rush to pass Obamacare, ignored internal warnings from government experts about the fiscal sustainability of a long-term care insurance entitlement program included in the health reform law. Throughout the health care debate, officials within the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, as well as the Health and Human Services Department, repeatedly warned that the CLASS Act would be a fiscal disaster. Yet, the final version of Obamacare not only included the CLASS Act; it even counted CLASS as a cost-saving measure. Now, the Republicans behind...

President Barack Obama’s top health official, Secretary of Health and Human Services Kathleen Sebelius, will host a massive fundraiser for one of the nation’s biggest pro-abortion organizations next month. With Obama’s polling numbers looking grim, the Obama administration is already cozying up to pro-abortion groups to raise the financial and grassroots support he needs from liberal Democrats in order for the president to have a shot at winning his re-election bid next year. Earlier this week, the chief of staff to First Lady Michelle Obama was the keynote speaker at a NARAL event. Now, Sebelius is headlining a fundraiser for the...
