Christians not only have the right to keep and bear arms, but they have the obligation to do so in the defense of freedom. This is the powerful and provocative thesis of a new book by Tim Baldwin and his father, Chuck Baldwin. In their book, To Keep or Not to Keep, the Baldwins — Tim is a Second Amendment scholar and attorney, while Chuck is a minister and former Constitution Party presidential candidate — argue that “Christians should not give up their guns.” They back up their claim with logic and scripture, a rare combination even among gun-rights advocates....

WASHINGTON, D.C., August 13, 2013 (LifeSiteNews) – In a move that underscores the hot-and-cold approach of the Obama administration toward enforcement of its controversial Obamacare contraceptive coverage mandate, the Justice Department announced last week that it will not mount a defense against a lawsuit filed by a Michigan-based weapons company seeking a religiously-based exemption from the rule. Trijicon, which manufactures optics and aiming systems for military, law enforcement, hunting and self-defense, sued the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) in May arguing that the HHS mandate violates the company owners’ deeply held Christian belief that life begins at conception.

Yesterday, we discussed New Jersey Governor Chris Christie's curious reluctance (so far) to ban .50 caliber rifles, despite having, just a few months ago, been the one to propose such a law in the first place. One of the ten new gun laws he did choose to sign last Thursday, though, is arguably a far more egregious assault on liberty than even the gun ban would be. A 3687/S 2485, which, according to the title, "[d]isqualifies person named on federal Terrorist Watchlist from obtaining firearms identification card or permit to purchase handgun," finally achieves at the state level what the...

LOS ANGELES (CBSLA.com) — A controversial gun measure proposed by a Southern California lawmaker that would require background checks for all ammunition purchases statewide is moving forward in Sacramento. Senator Kevin de León (D-Los Angeles) first introduced Senate Bill 53 last December, which would require anyone wishing to purchase ammunition in California to first obtain a Ammunition Purchase Permit issued by the Department of Justice, valid for one year from the date of issuance. To obtain such a permit, the holder would have to pass a traditional background check as well as a mental health check, according to De León....

In response to the Newtown, Conn. massacre and a host of school shootings in recent years, the Obama administration released a 67-page report on emergency planning this summer that includes several pages advising educators on how to manage “an active shooter situation.” The U.S. Department of Education’s “live-shooter” section doesn’t recommend that schools arm teachers or employ armed guards. It doesn’t even advise schools to add door locks for classrooms. Instead, the section counsels teachers and students to “run,” “hide” and then “fight”—but only “if neither running nor hiding is a safe option.” Arne Duncan, the Secretary of Education and...

BELLEVUE, WA – -(Ammoland.com)- You heard it straight from the horse’s mouth. Jay Carney said Obama will sign the UN Arms Trade Treaty “before the end of August…We believe it’s in the interest of the United States.” This is very strategic timing considering Congress is on a 5 week vacation lasting thru the month of August! These back door tactics are nothing new for the Obama Administration, which is why we are using tactics of our own to stop his anti-gun agenda. We have the home fax numbers of every Senator so while they are absent from the Capitol we...

George Zimmerman should be disarmed. If ever a man deserved to be shunned by society, it is pudgy Georgie Zimmerman. And in some quarters, he is. Unfortunately, there are enough of his ilk around – the big guns who run the National Rifle Association, conservative talk radio Obama haters and others – who quickly and emphatically drew the besieged Floridian into their warm and fuzzy protective cocoon of right-wing fanaticism. The ink was not even dry on the long-delayed Zimmerman arrest warrant when the NRA brass leaped to his defense because he fulfilled their classic gunfighter role model — a...

President Obama is quietly moving forward with gun control regulations. A Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives(ATF) Final Rule published Tuesday in the Federal Register and a news release issued last Friday by the Department of Health and Human Services (DHS) are recent developments ignored by the mainstream media even though Vice President Joe Biden announced last week that the administration would be using executive orders to advance “gun control” goals following a Senate battle that could not muster the votes to do so legislatively. President Obama has side-stepped Congress by implementing portions of the UN Small Arms Trade...

DETROIT (WJBK) - Michigan's "stand your ground" law is practically the same as the Florida law, and there are a lot of people hoping that a review leads to it being repealed. However, we spoke with one Detroit man who said "stand your ground" quite possibly saved his life and without a doubt kept him out of prison. "If it wasn't for [the] 'stand your ground' law, right now I would be in jail, and my life could've been taken at that point," said Darrell Standberry. It happened nearly two years ago, but Standberry remembers like it was yesterday the...

DENVER - Mail-in ballots for recall elections for two state senators will be tossed out after a judge ruled Monday to use a constitutionally-set deadline for candidates to allow more access to the ballots. Judge Robert McGahey considered a lawsuit brought by Libertarians last week alleging they were wrongfully denied the ability to get a candidate on the Sept. 10 recall elections for Senate President John Morse, D-Colorado Springs, and Sen. Angela Giron, D-Pueblo. The constitution says that candidates can get on a ballot by turning in enough valid signatures within 15 days of election day, which would make mail-in...

As California Congressman Henry Waxman promised, he has introduced a Bill to ban the sale of “Parts kits” for “Assault Rifles, Assault Shotguns, and Assault Pistols." This also includes a ban on Receiver blanks. The Bill defines an “assault weapons parts kit as: “ any part or combination of parts not designed and intended for repair or replacement but designed and intended to enable a consumer who possesses all such necessary parts to assemble a semiautomatic assault weapon…” Which raised the question of vagueness in the law as to which components of an “Assault Weapons Parts Kits” could be sold...

On Feb. 26, 2012 in Sanford, Florida there was a shooting that would, for whatever reason, transfix this country and pressure how we as a nation understand our natural right to self-defense. I am of course referring to the shooting of Trayvon Martin by George Zimmerman. It’s not my intention here to pour over the details of this case — I’m sure we have all heard those, time and time again. I personally have no desire to hear them again. Following in the well-worn footsteps of New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg and his Blueprint for Federal Action on Illegal Guns, this week the Council on Foreign Relations released a memo urging the Obama administration to disregard the will of the American people and Congress and unilaterally enact a series of gun controls. Sweig, the memo pins the ills of Central and South America on U.S. gun owners and urges the president to curb our rights to...

In the Tampa Tribune there is a long, interesting article about a young man walking across the U.S.A. It was a very positive experience for him. About halfway through, he casually mentions that he had to use a previously concealed weapon to stop an attack: In Albuquerque, N.M., he was approached by a half-dozen members of a street gang, who began yelling at him to get off their sidewalk. They got belligerent, refusing to let him pass. “They just exploded in anger,” he said. He was reluctant to say what exactly happened next. “I have a concealed weapons permit,” was...

Whether it was finding the solid ground in writing the Declaration of Independence that would justify and drive a revolution or defining the core rights that would guide the crafting for our Constitution, our Founding Fathers held firmly to core principles that would help them navigate through unchartered waters. Every improvement is the result of change, but not every change is an improvement. Our Founding Fathers had to find a compass to give them a true north as they sorted through the choices and changes our emerging country faced. After more than two centuries, it is understandable that our citizens...

Professor Richard Dawkins, known as the world’s most famous atheist, has risen to rock star status for his attacks on God and religion, in particular, his attacks on the God of the Bible. But when he recently criticized Muslims, he was in for a surprise. Before looking at Dawkins’ rather mild criticism of Muslims, let’s remember the depth of his vitriol against Christians and the Bible, most of which has only enhanced Dawkins’ reputation. In an April interview aired on the Qatar-based TV network Al Jazeera, Dawkins railed on the Catholic Church, saying that, as “Horrible as sexual abuse no...

A prosecutor has dropped criminal cases against three more defendants charged in an undercover ATF sting in Milwaukee last year — the latest setback for the beleaguered operation. Milwaukee County Assistant District Attorney Karen Loebel said in court she was dismissing the cases to protect informants who arranged gun and drug deals for federal agents. She blamed the publicity surrounding the U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives sting, saying it made it too dangerous to proceed with the cases. The ATF is usually keen on getting publicity for its operations, but not the kind the Milwaukee sting has...

Would Nazi Germany’s systematic enslavement and extermination policies have gone unchallenged by victim populations if the Third Reich had not imposed and expanded on the “gun control” edicts of the Weimar Republic? The question has been explored for decades now, by innovative civil rights groups presenting groundbreaking research, like Jews for the Preservation of Firearms Ownership, as well as by a handful of Second Amendment scholars. Unfortunately, for those interested in a more complete understanding, it has gone unasked and unmentioned in most “mainstream” history books. “A skeptic could surmise that a better-armed populace might have made no difference,” the...

Illinois Democratic Sen. The extent of the transformation of our mass media into a mere propaganda apparatus can be gauged by the black hole treatment given to a story that pushes all of the buttons needed for wall-to-wall treatment, save one: the villain is a member of victim group acting on behalf of left wing causes. The shooting at the Family Research Council last year has been consigned to obscurity by the MSM. One favorite meta-narratives of the propaganda media is that crazy right-wingers all over the country are hording guns in order to use them on innocent victims. This framework can be...
