Archbishop Sheen Today! -- Choices we make (Part Two) Barbara Kralis Barbara Kralis October 8, 2004 © Catholic Online 2004 A long time ago, Sister Christine Joseph taught us to make the heroic minute on waking each morning. She taught our first grade class to pray: "Good morning, dear Jesus, this day is for you! I ask you to bless me in everything I think, say and do!" Sister said that our first waking thoughts and words should be of and toward Jesus. Why, in l950, did this wise holy nun teach such a 'state of readiness' to little children?...

Archbishop Sheen Today! -- Choices we make (Part One) Barbara Kralis Barbara Kralis September 28, 2004 Heaven or hell, it is our choice. Which will it be? Will we choose the place and state of perfect and eternal happiness where we will see, face to face, the sight of God? Or, will we choose the place and state of eternal punishment, which consists of the deprivation of the sight of God (pain of loss) and the eternal fires (pain of sense)? Many years ago, comedian Flip Wilson used to lament, "The devil (deb-il) made me do it!" It was a...

Sheen Stumps for Real-Life Politician NewsMax Wires Monday, Sept. 27, 2004 KANNAPOLIS, N.C. – Actor Martin Sheen did some real-life politicking for a congressional candidate who used to work on his television series "The West Wing." Sheen, who portrays fictional president Josiah Bartlett on the series, attended private fund-raisers Saturday in Charlotte and Richmond County for 8th District congressional candidate Beth Troutman, who worked four years in Los Angeles as assistant to the executive producer of "The West Wing." He finished the day at a party at the Raleigh home of former Ambassador Jeanette Hyde. He made his only public...

Mary and the Moslems 11/1/01 Moslemism is the only great post-Christian religion of the world. Because it had its origin in the seventh century under Mohammed, it was possible to unite, within it, some elements of Christianity and of Judaism, along with particular customs of Arabia. Moslemism takes the doctrine of the unity of God, His Majesty and His creative power, and uses it, in part, as a basis for the repudiation of Christ, the Son of God. (The following was written in 1952 and reprinted in the October 2001 Mindszenty Report.) The Power of Islam by Archbishop Fulton ...

...The election coverage from Big Media has been unusually partisan this time around. As Newsweek's Evan Thomas famously remarked: "Let's talk a little media bias here. The media, I think, wants Kerry to win... that's going to be worth maybe 15 points." ...Mr. Kerry, as even many Dems are admitting, is a weak candidate. Suicide or killing oneself is the evil of despair and the loss of hope. In contrast, self-sacrifice for someone else is a sign of hope, and an act of generosity and love. The two opposing actions, killing versus self-sacrificing, produce opposing results — despair versus hope, fear versus trust, indifference versus love. Nothing can compare with the ultimate sacrifice of Christ. In fact, the following splendid reality...

Augustine's account of his early life of wrongdoing would not shock very many in America today. His sins in the fourth century are the same grave transgressions suffered by far too many of us in the 21st century. Sic faciunt omnes — concupiscence of the flesh, renunciation of the Catholic Faith and the embracing of modernism (heresy). [1] What would shock many in America today would be the transformation he made from sinfulness to Sainthood, and not without a tributary of tearful petitions from his holy mother, Monica, to God, the Father of Mercy. As a beloved Son who imitated...

" We sat in class 'alphabetically,' that is, according to our last names. My last name, 'Arthur' consigned me to the first row of old wooden desks that ran parallel to the hot water radiators along the windowed wall. The Blessed Mother stood approximately 5 feet from my face. She was a statue, of course, and she regally stood on top of the metal radiator cover. Washington, DC ( -- Actor Martin Sheen has backed out of being listed as an endorser for the pro-abortion march sponsored by leading abortion advocacy groups. Whether the listing of him as a sponsor was accidental or if Sheen didn't know the march's purpose is to support abortion is still a question. That Sheen, who plays a fictitious president on the hit NBC drama "West Wing," was listed as a sponsor of the pro-abortion march was a surprise. Though he holds liberal views on other political issues, Sheen is a longtime pro-life supporter. In 2001, Sheen was listed by Feminists...

During an emergency State of the Union address this morning, President Bush declared war on Hollywood. A frightening picture of American superiority Even a fictional character seen as so left-wing that he is unelectable spouts a chilling foreign policy Johann Hari 05 February 2003 It isn't easy for those of us in Britain to try to understand what has been happening to the American psyche over these past few surreal years. From the presidential election where the guy with half a million fewer votes ended up in the White House, to 11 September, where in one morning more people died as a result of terrorism than in Northern Ireland for the past 30 years, to the...

Oh, how I love to do this to this awful atheistic anti-freedom communist anthem. MIDI - IMAGINE Imagine no Sarandon…and no Martin Sheen Ferrell's aborted…Assner remains unseen Imagine all these a-hoes…just going away (I can dream) There is no Sean Penn preaching…and Jessica Lange croaked We won't have to hear Baldwin…Clooney's a washed-up joke Imagine all these a-hoes…just going away You might tell me….DFU, you're too much of a dreamer But, oh, that world would be great Perhaps at least we could go and gag them all That's a FReep we would love to celebrate Imagine Barbra Streisand…keeping her big...

Very funny ad I saw over the weekend. Charlie Sheen goes into a video store to buy a stack of his films. He tries to pay by check and is told to wait until his ID checks out. So he waits and waits and waits. We cut to a scene of the clerk holding Sheen's driver's licence in front of the camera, He lowers the license, and there at the counter is--Martin Sheen! The clerk says, "this picture doesn't look like you." Charlie's dad replies, "not any more." Hilarious!

John Kennedy’s “great heart,” Jimmy Carter’s “morality” and Bill Clinton’s “intelligence,” all rolled into one, make up the “fantasy” of The West Wing’s “President Bartlet,” actor Martin Sheen suggested last week to PBS’s Charlie Rose. Sheen declared of President Clinton: “I think he was probably the brightest President of the 20th century.” In contrast, of Ronald Reagan he opined: “I don’t think he was a great President.” On the October 3 Charlie Rose show, Sheen said he’d have great difficulty playing a President based on Reagan. When Rose asked if he’d give Reagan “some credit” for the “decline of the...

And neither of them were named Bush. Janet Reno kissed the president. On the lips! An embarrassing photo set for release on Monday shows Florida gubernatorial hopeful Janet Reno and fictional "West Wing" U.S. president Martin Sheen kissing each other firmly on the lips at a campaign event this week, in an episode that one observer compared to the famous kiss shared by Al and Tipper Gore at the 2000 Democratic Party convention. "Oh, my God!" exclaimed stunned WABC Radio talker Paul Alexander, reacting on-air Saturday night after "The Hotline's" Craig Crawford e-mailed the snapshot into the studio from Florida, where he's covering the Reno campaign.
