If you’ve ever seen Teen Mom, you know that it in no way glorifies teen parenthood. Those young moms and dads are struggling, and despite the rumors that MTV pays them around $60,000 a season, (which MTV refuses to comment on) many of them are shown relying on government assistance to get by. The young women on the show, as much as their lives are put under the microscope, do get famous in their way.

Comedy Central's Daily Show is the least diverse late-night show on television, according to a graphic put together by an artist that examined the race and sex of guests compared to the general population over a six-week period this past August and September. More than $3 million will be spent by the Federal and NSW governments getting talk show queen Oprah Winfrey to Australia, but Tourism Minister Martin Ferguson says it will be worth every cent. Winfrey announced overnight she would fly 300 members of her audience to Australia for an eight-day trip in December. During the visit Winfrey will shoot several episodes of her daytime talk show, which has a weekly following of 40 million Americans and is screened in 145 countries. The trip will be partly financed with $1.5 million from Tourism Australia's current financial year marketing budget.

The much-publicized arrest on Wednesday of Chaim Perlman, 30, has set off a chain of events that has left the Shabak (Internal Security Agency, or ISA) very much on the defensive. Perlman is a member of the religious-Zionist Givat Washington community near the coastal city of Ashdod. Michael Bloomberg, the billionaire mayor of New York City, has been funding a national advertising campaign to promote his congressional gun- control bill. Monday's Denver Post featured a full-page ad urging Sen. Mark Udall to support the Bloomberg bill; Colorado's other senator, Michael Bennett, is already a co-sponsor. According to the ad, the Bloomberg bill would nationalize Colorado's rule about background checks at gun shows. SeaWorld said Tuesday that it is reconsidering whether to keep using the 6-ton killer whale that drowned its trainer last month in performances for audiences.
