Dear Sister and Viking Kitty, Yes, I've been gone a long time. You see-- I was determined to become a professional blogger here at FreeRepublic. But after carefully juggling many electrons into halfway (halfwit?) decent posts, Jim 'Swiss Family' Robinson told me that I was not actually blogging, because FR is a FORUM, not a blog. I was stuned. Stymied. And, he told me he wasn't going to pay me for my posts or my barbed wire--and neither should I--taxpayer dollars should have built that wall decades ago. SO ..instead of getting a blogger stipend, I donated to FReepathons. Hope...

Last week, 117 "members of the Republican national security community" signed an open letter condemning Donald Trump. It made me think the bellicose billionaire, the front-runner for the Republican presidential nomination, is not quite as bad as I thought. "His vision of American influence and power in the world is wildly inconsistent and unmoored in principle," the letter complains. "He swings from isolationism to military adventurism within the space of one sentence." Although there is some truth to that critique, an inconsistent skepticism of foreign intervention is better than none at all. That is why I have trouble agreeing with...

I have been a radio talk show host for 33 years, nationally syndicated for 18. I have never experienced anything similar to what I am experiencing now. Until recently, the only hate mail I ever received was from a small number people on the left. The major reason for this, I am convinced, is that I don't yell at callers and I treat callers who disagree with respect. Reading my emails these days is a brand new experience. I receive hate mail, sometimes laced with obscenities, from Republicans.

The stakes in 2016 are huge and the party is fractured. The rhetoric reflects a Trump Derangement Syndrome in which Trump is either a monster or a savior, instead of a politician. On the left, Bush Derangement Syndrome expressed itself in the conviction that he was unalterably and uniquely worse than every other president and would get around to declaring martial law and ruling forever. The danger of exaggeration is that previously unacceptable views suddenly become acceptable. Bush Derangement Syndrome made it acceptable for Democrats to descend into open treason by making common cause with Saddam Hussein, the Sunni terrorist...

He even went out of his way to praise Planned Parenthood's good work. According to a new study from the University of Michigan, cheese crack is a real thing. And so is your addiction. Eureka! After about a century of research, Swiss scientists have finally cracked the mystery of the holes in Swiss cheese. Despite what you may have been told as a child, they are not caused by mice nibbling away inside cheese wheels. Experts from Agroscope, a state centre for agricultural research, said the phenomenonwhich marks famous Swiss cheeses such as Emmental and Appenzellwas caused by tiny bits of hay present in the milk and not bacteria as previously thought. They found that the mystery holes in such cheeses became smaller or disappeared when milk used for cheese-making was extracted using modern...
