<p>I hope you all had a wonderful holiday weekend.</p>
<p>I made a first post in the general section yesterday and would like to see what sort of opinions I can find here amongst those who perhaps have a more relogiously attuned perspective.</p>

June 8, 2009 — Most of the sediments in the world are mudstones – including shales and clays. Until recently these were thought to form only in calm, placid seas. Now, two geologists are continuing to show that they can form in flowing or turbulent water...

Facilitated variation: a new paradigm emerges in biology Alex Williams Facilitated variation is the first comprehensive theory of how life works at the molecular level, published in 2005 by systems biologists Marc Kirschner and John Gerhart in their book The Plausibility of Life: Resolving Darwin’s Dilemma. It is a very powerful theory, is supported by a great deal of evidence, and the authors have made it easy to understand. It identifies two basic components of heredity: (a) conserved core processes of cellular structure, function and body plan organization; and (b) modular regulatory mechanisms that are built in special ways that...

The concern over President Obama's eligibility to be president under the U.S. Constitution's demand that the office be occupied by a "natural born" citizen is spreading, with additional writers conceding questions remain about the dispute. "Yes, there were ambiguities about Obama's birth certificate that have never been satisfactorily resolved. And the embargo on Obama's educational records remains troubling," wrote Camille Paglia, a progressive author and columnist at Salon.com.

Obama Born In The U.S. ? New Facts Say; “Probably Not!” Let me be the first to admit that I have been a constant debunker of the “Obama Born Overseas” stories. How could it be possible? How could the DNC, Hillary, Edwards, the RNC, McCain, Romney, AP, BBC, ABC, FNC, etc, (and every 100th listing in the DC phone book) not have checked this out to its last level of possibility? Well, it appears that they didn’t! Everyone assumed “the other guy did it.” Forget for the moment all the clues left by the high-priced Obama and DNC legal teams....

"No specific charges were ever levied against Key's grandson. The editor's offense was simply that he had dared criticize President Lincoln. Thus, some of the liberties Francis Scott Key had enjoyed and had written about so eloquently had been lost in just one generation. Nevertheless, the patriotic fire that had dwelt in Key's heart was still alive in his grandson. . ."

OCTOBER 27--Two white supremacists who plotted a "killing spree" targeting African Americans that was to culminate with the murder of Senator Barack Obama have been arrested on a variety of federal charges. According to a court affidavit sworn out by a Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives agent, Daniel Cowart, 20, and Paul Schlesselman, 18, began discussing the murder plot after meeting online about a month ago. In the ATF affidavit, a copy of which you'll find below, Cowart and Schlesselman "discussed the killing spree to include targeting a predominately African-American school, going state to state while robbing...

One issue voters. Confused, emotional one issue voters. And they come from all stripes of politics. Let's have a look. The Neo nazi groups/conspiracy theorists - Ron says he will end aid to Israel. They've latched on to that one. Most of them don't want the government to function, good or bad because it keeps them in check. Not quite anarchists, but close. The Leftie Anti war crowd, not really pacifists, but bohemian cowards promoting anarchy. Paul says he'll end the war and be nice to everyone no matter how they've tried to kill us. The Conservative who really would...

The number of ethnic hatred crimes has been increasing in Russia, human rights activists said. "A total of 21 people have died and 208 have been injured in ethnic hate attacks since the beginning of the year in Russia," Galina Kozhevnikova, deputy director of the Sova information center, told Interfax on Saturday. Ethnic hate attacks were reported in 30 Russian regions, but most were registered in Moscow and St. Petersburg, she said. Thirteen people were killed in ethnically motivated attacks in Moscow and in the Moscow region this year, with 89 suffering injuries. Three people were killed and 21...

A week after the desecration of the Great Synagogue in Petah Tikva, nothing remains of the horror the worshipers encountered there last Thursday when they arrived for morning prayers. The walls, which had been sprayed with swastikas and blasphemy, have been newly painted, the floor polished and the curtain covering the holy ark replaced. However, the danger is far from over. For the past two years the ultra-Orthodox community there, which includes some 5,000 families and 300 synagogues, has been subjected to incessant attacks by street gangs from the former Soviet Union (FSU). The gangs have been beating ultra-Orthodox men,...

The Skinhead movement has found adherents in Poland where their violence has become deadly and their political extremism has escalated since the fall of Communism. The Polish Skinheads' anger and energy have been given direction by far-right nationalist forces. Violent behavior is a hallmark of the Polish Skinheads. They seek out victims at mass gatherings, such as soccer matches and rock concerts. Smaller groups also single out individuals for assault. The Skinheads tend to avoid provoking the police, but have fought them on occasion when the police have tried to quell their disturbances. After an initial perception of spotty law...

The skinheads are like a mixture of neo-Nazis and soccer hooligans grafted onto the casual racism that the Soviet Union concealed under its communist rhetoric RUSSIA’S small Cameroonian community was shocked and saddened, but not surprised, when fellow citizen Kanhem Leon was murdered by racists. They know the danger of violence is ever present. Simon Samba Samba, the Cameroon embassy’s second secretary, says he always advises new arrivals not to walk around on their own and to avoid places where skinheads hunt foreigners. “When people came here to study in communist times, it was not like this. But now people...

RBC, 19.12.2005, Moscow 19:03:32.The UN General Assembly has adopted an anti-Nazi resolution, initiated by Russia. Some 114 countries supported the document, with 4 states against and 57 abstentions. The resolution expresses a serious concern about the growing activity of extremist, racist and xenophobic organizations in the world. The Russian Foreign Ministry is concerned that some countries (i.e. the US and Japan) voted against the document, while many countries (all EU members) abstained. States such as Ukraine, Moldova and Georgia abstained as well, although these nations suffered a lot during World War II, the ministry's information and press department claimed.

Hurricane Produces Grief --- And Urban Legends We’ve all seen heartbreaking images of Hurricane Katrina – which,by the way, devastated coastal areas of Mississippi too – something the Media almost totally ignores.* To make matters worse , the “Urban Legend Machine” is operating at full capacity ; with every type of huckster you can imagine going online – or elbowing a path to the news cameras to spout off. These are just a few of the stories being told. 1. A “prominent” ( in his own mind ) activist proclaimed his opinion poor black people had been left to die...

KIEV, Ukraine- A group of neo-Nazis stabbed two Kiev yeshiva students on an underpass Sunday evening, while on their way home from the yeshiva. Mordechai Ben Avraham, 28, one of the students attacked, was in critical condition and undergoing brain surgery Monday. The other student was lightly wounded. No suspects were identified as of Monday morning. Rabbi Moshe Asman, of the Kiev Jewish community, was in contact with the police and promised that the stabbings would be dealt with seriously. Kiev police also made similar assurances, Army Radio reported. The Jewish community describes local anti-Semitism as worsening since the elections...

The victim suffered severe internal bleeding and had to undergo emergency surgery following an attack outside Pizza Hut on Howardsgate, WGC, last year. One policewoman described the subsequent arrest of the brothers as the scariest moment of her career. The jury heard that in the early hours of Saturday, October...

More than half of Russians have xenophobic views -- that is the charge coming from Russian human rights campaigners today. In a new report, rights groups say that -- despite progress in some areas -- racism, xenophobia, and anti-Semitism remain rife in Russia. But what worries watchdogs most are recent moves by nationalist-patriotic movements to form paramilitary groups.

Jewish leaders in Russia said Tuesday that anti-Semitism and xenophobia were persistent in Russian society and they criticized law enforcement officials for not doing more to punish nationalist crimes. Borukh Gorin, spokesman for the Federation of Russia's Jewish Organizations, said an investigation by prosecutors into whether an ancient Jewish religious text was inciting religious hatred "was a sign of a serious illness of our society." Last week, prosecutors dropped the inquiry into whether the Russian translation of a 19th century summary of Jewish religious laws called Kitsur Shulhan Arukh provoked religious hatred. The inquiry had been prompted by a complaint...

On the surface there would seem to be little to unite the Aryan racialists of the neo-Nazi movement with the terrorists of radical Islam. To the neo-Nazis, Muslims are almost all members of ``inferior`` races; and to the Islamic terrorists, the neo-Nazis are almost without exception either atheists or members of fringe quasi-Christian sects. But the reality is that there has been close cooperation between Muslim extremists and Fascists ever since the founding of the Nazi movement in the 1920`s. For all of their differences, Muslim extremists and Nazis have always been united by a common group of beliefs and...

ISTANBUL, Turkey - Turkish bookshops have a best seller, but some of them are hesitant about giving it too much display. It's "Mein Kampf." The popularity of Adolf Hitler's book, filled with anti-Jewish diatribes and dreams of world domination, is puzzling some Turks. Does it reflect rising anti-Semitic or anti-Western sentiment in Muslim Turkey? Or anger over Israel's treatment of the Palestinians and the war in Iraq (news - web sites)? Is it a backlash against the country's moves to join the European Union (news - web sites)? Or does it simply offer a cheap thrill? At least two new...

St. Louis -- White-supremacist groups around the country are moving aggressively to recruit new members by promoting their violent, racist ideologies on billboards, in radio commercials and in leaflets tossed on suburban driveways. Watching with mounting alarm, civil rights monitors say these tactics stake out a much bolder, more public role for many hate groups, which are trying to shed their image as shadowy extremists and claim more mainstream support. Watchdog groups fear increased violence from these organizations as they grow. But perhaps an even greater fear is that the new public relations strategy will let neo-Nazis recast themselves as...

Suddenly a resurgent far-right is taking centre political stage in Germany just as the nation marks the end of the war and the liberation of the Nazi concentration camps. Leon Mangasarian reports.Sixty years after the Third Reich's defeat, German leaders seem at a loss to counter a tightly organised rightist party which is exploiting the Holocaust in a brazen bid to expand its power. Germany bickers over what to do with radical right Germany's establishment politicians have been locked in furious debate since January when the extremist National Democratic Party (NPD) marred sombre commemoration of Auschwitz death camp's liberation by...

MOSCOW. (RIA Novosti political commentator Vladimir Simonov.) Skinheads are part of Russia's youth subculture, as sociologists believe about 55,000 young people in the country see themselves as neo-Nazis. Crime reports after skinhead attacks are filled with references to foreigners. An Indian woman miscarried after being assaulted by skinheads on the central Moscow street of Arbat, while a nationalistic gang, Russkaya Tsel (Russian Goal), left William Jefferson, a black US embassy guard and former marine, in hospital. Something similar happened to Peter Taaffe, the general secretary of the British Socialist Party. Russian sociologists are positive that this is Nazism and not...

Russian skinheads lose massive fight to Asian men in Moscow metro01/31/2005 16:21 There are up to 50 thousand skinheads in Russia, which is equal to their quantity in the rest of the world Another massive fight took place in the Moscow metro on Sunday night. A group of Russian skinheads attacked two young Caucasian men on the Belorusskaya metro station at about 11:10 p.m. Potential victims showed a surprisingly powerful resistance: they would have won the fight but the police put an end to the scuffle. Several young men of Slavic looks came up to two nationals of the Caucasus...

Munich police arrested two neo-Nazis suspected of attacking a 48-year-old dark-skinned American on the street early Sunday morning. The man, whose name was not released, was able to fend off the group of drunken skinheads with a street sign until police arrived. He was not injured. Investigators said Monday the two arrested were connected to the Munich neo-Nazi leader Martin Wiese, who is behind bars on suspicion of planning bomb attacks on the construction site of Munich's new synagogue and other targets.

A RING of neo-Nazi extremists arrested in Germany this week is suspected of plotting an attack on Munich’s new synagogue on the anniversary of Hitler’s "Kristallnacht", police sources say. The right-wing extremists, arrested in raids that also turned up machine-guns, grenades and nearly 30lb of explosives, were planning an assault on the 65th anniversary of the night when Jewish homes and business were attacked in the infamous Nazi pogrom, police say. Their targets were high officials, including the German president, Johannes Rau, due to lay the foundation stones for the synagogue and school for Munich’s 8,000-strong Jewish community. Nine people...

ZAGREB, Aug 8 (AFP) - Croatian police have offered to boost security around the homes of Egyptian embassy staff, after the son of an embassy official was attacked and beaten by skinheads earlier this week. Eleven-year-old Karim Hassan was playing with his friends in a park near his house Wednesday when he was attacked by two skinheads who hit him several times in the head, Egyptian charge d'affaires Ahmed Bakr told AFP Friday. The boy was lightly injured and was feeling alright after being treated, he added. In another incident a group of Dynamo Zagreb supporters Wednesday attacked three members...

From swastikas painted on synagogues in B’nai Brak to vandalized graves in Beit Shemesh, to countless anecdotal stories of threats and harassment all around the country, traditional anti-Semitism seems to be rearing its head – this time from a different source – non-Jewish Russian immigrants. <p>Within the graceful, sun-scorched hills of north-central Pennsylvania farm country, the Aryan Nations World Congress waged a strongman competition.</p>
<p>Contestants hefted a stone in the shape of Africa and lugged it back and forth until their arms nearly burst. Painted on the stone in red is "Back to Africa," a statement of the group's position on African-Americans. A thin man in his 20s surprised everyone by surpassing the day's 22-lap record. He was dressed in the uniform of a racist skinhead: black T-shirt, combat boots, shaved head, sideburns.</p>

MOSCOW - A Russian woman injured by an explosion while trying to remove an anti-Semitic sign from the side of a road outside Moscow will travel Tuesday to Israel for plastic surgery — with all costs for her treatment covered by Russia's Jewish community. Tatyana Sapunova, 28, will be accompanied by Russia's chief Rabbi Berel Lazar and her mother Yelena, the Moscow hospital where she was being treated told the Interfax news agency.
