A Maryland man was recently arrested after he was accused of breaking into a Susquehanna Township home and raping a mentally disabled woman. Jose Fredy Reyes, 29, of Frederick, is also accused of sexually assaulting the same woman on two other occasions. He was charged Friday with several sex crimes and is being held in lieu of $50,000 bail in Dauphin County Prison. From time to time, a situation arises that gives truth to the old adage, "politics makes for strange bedfellows." The current case in point can be found at Cardiff University. The Students' Union there recently decided to ban all pro-life demonstrations on campus. In a sweet use of irony, the Students' Union was outraged over pro-life rallies and wanted to "prevent affiliated societies and groups from taking part in anti-choice protests or rallies." The Kansas legislature has passed the current gun law reform bill by overwhelming margins and sent it to Governor Brownback for signature or veto.    The bill, HB2578/SB447, strengthens state preemption language that limits the power of local governments to chill the exercise of second amendment rights. It requires adequate signage to prohibit the open carry of firearms by premises that choose to do so.   There is no penalty for open carrying in such premises unless the open carrier refuses to leave when asked to do so.
