Target stores should be ashamed. Media reports indicate that Target is now banning the Salvation Army nationwide. I read that 25% of the Salvation Army's holiday collections have come from Target stores. What a sad lack of community spirit this exhibits. On their website they state that their policy of not allowing any solicitation is to protect their customers. Well, I don't need to be protected from bell ringers. They further state that they give two million dollars a week to charities. That doesn't make me want to shop there. For two years my request to take Operation Stuff the...

One of the holiday's season most well-known sounds is back, but some stores are limiting where Salvation Army volunteers can ring their bells. The charity's "Red Kettle Collection Bells" are ringing in Rhode Island this weekend, but this year, corporate policies at several major retailers make it difficult to collect donations. Target has refused to allow the bell ringers at its stores and Walmart has limited collections to weekends only. Rhode Island's Salvation Army spokesperson says, the restrictive policies have hurt donation. "We're about 35 thousand dollars less this year than we were last year at this time, and it's...

On July 9, 2004, the International Court of Justice (ICJ) ruled that Israel's security barrier was a violation of international humanitarian law and human rights law. Eleven days later, the United Nations General Assembly voted 150-6 to condemn Israel and demand removal of the barrier. All twenty-five members of the European Union supported the motion.[1] The EU position would not have been so offensive had it not then undertaken an act of stunning hypocrisy. In August 2004, the EU put out tenders for companies to construct a European separation fence to prevent migration into the EU from countries excluded from...

Dear ________, You have probably never heard my name. I'm one of many people who work tirelessly behind the scenes on behalf of the President's campaign. I make sure we carefully follow the law in everything we do. In 2000, I was in Florida for the recount and remember the attacks we had to fend off in order to protect the result of a fair election from the efforts to steal it. If we had not had the support of many, many generous individuals who made contributions to our recount effort, we would not have been successful. We must start...

RICHMOND — A Virginia Beach man convicted of soliciting sex in a department store bathroom is challenging the state's sodomy law, which prosecutors have continued to enforce a year after the Supreme Court's landmark ruling in Lawrence v. Texas. Lambda Legal, the gay rights group that handled the Lawrence case, filed a petition with the Virginia Court of Appeals Monday on behalf of Joel Singson, who was convicted of solicitation of sodomy last year. His challenge follows a similar petition to appeal that was filed by another Virginia Beach man in May, and a case involving two inmates that was...

This is simply my personal view after having reviewed the many comments regarding the "No-Call" List. Each memeber who sighned up obviously were stating that they were tired of phone solicitation. After all they pay their telephone service for their use not for the use of others sto annoy them with their solocitaiton regardless of the time of day. I am blind and I pay to have my number blocked and removed from various list and I find that it is an unfair practictice that I am still bothered by charity solicitations in additon to politicians. I will leave with...
