From a concert pianist in Korea to a woman suffering from depression in Germany to schoolchildren in Japan, Zach Sobiech touched millions of people around the world with "Clouds," his song of farewell to family and friends. Sobiech was an "extraordinary young man who had the profound ability to make everyone feel better about themselves," said Dan Seeman, vice president and market manager for KS95/Hubbard Radio in St. Paul, who initiated Sobiech's recording of the song. "He embraced his life and challenged each of us to do the same." Sobiech died early Monday at his home in Lakeland, 3-1/2 years...

MSNBC host Touré tore into both artists LL Cool J and Brad Paisley over the release of their lighthearted duet “Accidental Racist,” which tackled persistent racial tensions through song. Touré, an experienced music critic as well as an outspoken expert on race relations, found no redeeming value in their song. RELATED: LL Cool J Defends ‘Accidental Racist,’ Compares Confederate Flag With Pirate Flag Co-host S.E. Cupp said that she could “appreciate” the effort made by both artists in the effort to cool racial tensions though verse. “I like the effort… maybe,” Cupp said waveringly. “Okay,” Touré interjected. “No, I’m not...

Translation of the refrain: I live from day to day, I'm not going anywhere, One day goes, another comes And not one thing has changed The clock hasn't stopped. In a while tomorrow comes. But the same song repeats itself: I have no other land.

Can anyone from LA tell me if the radio stations are getting requests to play "I'll be Watching You" by Sting? The lyrics seem eerily appropriate to the present situation. I always thought that song was creepy. Here are half of the lyrics: Every breath you take And every move you make Every bond you break Every step you take I'll be watching you Every single day And every word you say Every game you play Every night you stay I'll be watching you Oh, can't you see You belong to me Now my poor heart aches With every step...

With apologies to the genius of Bob Dylan, I offer an Obama parody of the last verse of one of Dylan's catchiest tunes - Black Diamond Bay: I was chilling in the West Wing when Mama Crowley came on CNN With sub-optimal news. Seems that terrorists in Libya led To Stevens and three others dead, But there’s a movie trailer we could use. Didn’t seem like much to worry ‘bout So I turned it off and went and did another line. Seems like every time you turn around There’s another dishonest tale I gotta design. And there’s really nothing anyone...

I've been searching for the song that NBC has been playing when doing promos for the women's gymnastic events. Finally found it....it's called "Home" by Phillip Phillips. Thought maybe others were searching too. The thread source link is from a promo during the team trials - pre "Fab Five"

Heard this fantastic song parody satirizing government abuse of power for the first time on Dennis Miller's radio show the other day, even though (as I discovered) it's not new, but rather about three years old. Written and performed by Tim Hawkins, apparently a conservative stand-up comic. He does a great job. Could and should be very popular at Tea Party events.

I am trying to write lyrics for a song involving a troop who went to Iraq and whose vehicle encountered an IED (improvised explosive device, i.e. Islamoterrorist guerilla road bomb) that exploded. It presents the man as a hero who saved his buddies when they were thrown out of the vehicle, but who himself perished in a hail of automatic fire from the enemy. There is a lot more to the story both before and afterwards than this, but it is an important story element. The term "IED" is a lot more euphonious (the syllables have a better sound) in...

Looking for some Freeper musical help - I have a song that I can't recall the title or group from the late 80s early 90s. It is basically a list of cities sung very rapidly one after another. I know there at least two other songs that used a similar technique of stringing words together to a rhythm - one was in I believe the early sixties and the other in the later 90s. I have always been terrible with music titles and group names so looking to see if any FRiends can help me out on a Friday night....

A Colorado high school student says he quit the school choir after an Islamic song containing the lyric "there is no truth except Allah" made it into the repertoire. James Harper, a senior at Grand Junction High School in Grand Junction, put his objection to singing "Zikr," a song written by Indian composer A.R. Rahman, in an email to Mesa County School District 51 officials. When the school stood by choir director Marcia Wieland's selection, Harper said, he quit. "I don’t want to come across as a bigot or a racist, but I really don’t feel it is appropriate for...

School Defends “Occupy” Song For 8-year-olds By Todd Starnes/TWITTER A Virginia school district is defending a song allegedly written and performed by a group of third graders about the Occupy Wall Street movement that conservative bloggers are calling a form of indoctrination. The song, “Part of the 99,” was performed by children at Woodbrook Elementary School in Albemarle County, Virginia. A spokesman for the school system said as far as they were concerned there isn’t a controversy and called criticism of the program unfortunate. “We really don’t censor the topics that students come up with,” school spokesman Phil Giaramita told...

Via CBS 19 News: The School Board in Charlottesville is clearly out of line, and not fooling anyone with their lame explanation for how kids came to sing a class warfare song at an assembly. Indoctrinating other people’s children with their political message is a tactic leftists use all the time. Conservatives shouldn’t stand for it, and need to continue to sound the alarm about this story.

Before Islam in Arabia, there was an art expression in poem and song called the golden box, the Golden Odes, the poetry and song of the Arabic Qasidah. But in fact, it was even older than one can imagine. And, inside this golden box was found the simple, but yet complex, story of morality, the comedy, the boastful, mournful pine, a call to the land of birth, travel afar, the pain of separation, ardent love, solitude and the rhapsody. These palms, poetry and song, they were not the story of a Bedouin -- in fact the Bedouin is not found....

The management for rock and roll star Tom Petty didn't waste any time after Bachmann's campaign launch yesterday to send a cease-and-desist letter, demanding that she never use his song "American Girl" at campaign events again. These requests are not uncommon for Republican candidates, and it's one of the things that genuinely sucks for them. They can never use the easygoing, overplayed songs that they enjoy on FM radio, and they learn that their favorite artists despise them. Democrats' problem, on the other hand, is that they have to feign gratitude to all the musicians who write bad songs for...

Stop and listen to the King , Just wait upon me and let your Lifesong sing , For I own your part in My Tapestry , But it is for Me to reveal and you to see , Every color each and every stroke , A painting " Alive " and as you receive it I then invoke ! My breath of virtue into your every day , So when you arise you come to me first and "say" , " What is it Oh Lord that you desire of me ? " , "Show me where I am the...

"MAMA" (By Jo Nuvark) Psalm 47:4 and 139 Mama. Mama. Don’t blame me for your blues. I may be inconvenient, but it’s much too late to choose. Listen with your heart, you’ll hear my still small voice. Let me live I’ll be your life, your child not your choice.

I read this on Iowa Hawk this morning and had to share. It’s very clever. (this song is sung to the tune of “Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious”) Overseas-Contingencies-Kinetic-Aliocious In trying to explain himself when bombing foreign lands, It behooves a modern president to keep his prose in hand. One little slip in lexicon accounting for the rubble Will end up in congressional investigative trouble. Ohhhhhh! Overseas-contingencies-kinetic-aliocious I must admit the messaging is really quite atrocious But if you say it soft enough, you’ll always sound precocious, Overseascontingencieskineticaliocious! Um-diddle-diddle-um-diddleye Um-diddle-diddle-um-diddleye In olden days they called this thing a stale three-letter word But in this...

I am not a good singer, but I love to sing in the choir. I love being able to see the faces of those being blessed in song. I love the privilege of being able to contribute to their blessing. My favorite time to sing is when the song makes me think of being in His presence, lifting my voice with all of the saints in heaven.

At this time of year, Christmas songs seem to stir our hearts and minds with thoughts of Christmas cheer, jingle bells, sleigh rides, snowflakes, Santa, Rudolph, and of course the birth of Jesus in a manger long ago. And although many people bemoan the evils of over-indulgence, unbridled commericalism, as well as the absence and rejection of Christ during the Christmas season, few make the direct connection to the deceiver of the world - Satan himself. But did you know that one very popular Christmas song actually mentions Satan by name? This odd little piece of trivia is one I...

An uplifting pop gem arriving just in time for the holiday, "Miracle," produced by Dr. Luke protégé Kool Kojak (Flo Rida, Katy Perry, Ke$ha), is drenched in a joyful spirit and features chiming synths, bouncing beats and an irresistible chorus. Matisyahu says, "There are so many Christmas songs out there. I wanted to give the Jewish kids something to be proud of. We've got Adam Sandler's song, which is hilarious, but I wanted to try to get across some of the depth and spirituality inherent in the holiday in a fun, celebratory song. FRANKLIN, Tenn. - Music City is full of songwriters, hoping to land that big break. But a now former Middle school football coach in Williamson County said writing a politically-charged country song got him fired, after it rubbed a few parents the wrong way. 26 year old Bryan Glover is not shy about his political opinions. He is proud tea party Republican and felt compelled to voice his disappointment in the current administration through his music. But he never thought sharing his new song would leave him unemployed. The song is called, "When You're Holding A Hammer, Everything Looks Like...
