Former presidential candidate Ron Paul reacted to President Obama's SOTU address with John Stossel on Fox Business Network. Paul said in the speech, "certainly we didn't get any answers tonight" to the key issues facing the nation. "Everything on the surface looks like it's welfare-ism and warfare-ism. But I think underneath there's a smoldering desire that is growing by leaps and bounds that saying that a lot of people in this country have had enough of it..."

MIAMI — Arturo Ortiz-Soto, the sushi-chef rapist who terrorized South Beach women for two years, is going to prison for 40 years. The 31-year-old former chef pleaded guilty Monday to raping two women and attempting to rape two others. He will be deported to his native Guatemala when he is released from prison. ``You have irreparably changed the lives of your victims by your behavior,'' Miami-Dade Circuit Judge Ellen Sue Venzer told him. ``I do believe this sentence will sufficiently guarantee you do no more harm to our citizens.''

The list is lengthy. From the highly sensual Ursula Andress as Honey Rider to the electric Halle Berry as Jinx, every James Bond film is known as much for one gorgeous female character as it is for its high tech action and suave sophistication. But when it comes to the most recent selection, the casting folks hope they have broken the vault with Caterina Murino. The exotic beauty plays Solange in the latest Bond endeavor, Casino Royale, the first of Ian Fleming's wondrous Bond books. Somehow, the beautiful Murino managed only a fourth place finish in the 1996 Miss Italy...

  • Catholic Caucus: Should Pelosi be Tobin-ed by Bishop Jaime Soto

After Bishop Tobin ex-communicated Congressman Patrick Kennedy, the Congressman decided NOT to seek re-election. Perhaps Congressman Kennedy wanted to focus on matters of faith in his personal life, and leave public office. It is unclear if there was direct correlation between the ex-communication of Congressman Patrick Kennedy and his decision NOT to seek re-election. Maybe a new term should be coined to honor Bishop Tobin and the courage he showed in dealing with Congressman Kennedy. Maybe when a Catholic politican is ex-communicated, that politican could be considered to be Tobin-ed in honor of the good Bishop of Providence, Rhode Island....

When two Catholics... learned that Sacramento Coadjutor Bishop Jaime Soto was to be the keynote speaker at the National Association of Catholic Diocesan Lesbian and Gay Ministries conference in Long Beach on Sept. 18, they decided to attend themselves to see and hear the talk in person. They say what they witnessed was a bishop who “courageously but gently” gave a clear presentation of Church teaching on sexuality.... But there was noting ambiguous about Bishop Soto’s remarks to the group. “Sexual relations between people of the same sex can be alluring for homosexuals, but it deviates from the true meaning...

11/9/2005 - BALAD AIR BASE, Iraq (AFPN) -- Deployments often mean working long hours thousands of miles away from family and friends. But for two Airmen here, that is not the case. The Soto brothers are both deployed to the 332nd Expeditionary Logistics Readiness Squadron. Tech. Sgt. Orlando Soto and Senior Airman Saul Soto deployed from the 156th Logistics Readiness Squadron at Muniz Air National Guard Station, Puerto Rico. The two are continuing a family tradition started by their father, who served in the Army for 25 years. "My father inspired me to join the service," Sergeant Soto said. "I...

CARACAS, Venezuela, Feb. 8 (UPI) -- When the Organization of American States asked its press freedom expert, Santiago Canton, to report on the state of the independent press in Venezuela, they must have known it was a sensitive mission. President Hugo Chavez's radical populist government does not take kindly to criticism nor does it appreciate outside scrutiny of its internal affairs. It's doubtful, though, that anyone at the OAS expected Canton to fall victim himself to the kind of tactics the Venezuelan press faces every day. Just moments after beginning the final press conference of his four-day visit to ...

SACRAMENTO — The son of a state senator billed water agencies and cities thousands of dollars last year for work that included writing speeches, organizing Senate hearings and arranging "photo opportunities" for his lawmaker mother. Tom Soto, president of the Santa Monica public relations firm PS Enterprises and son of state Sen. Nell Soto (D-Pomona), was hired by two San Bernardino County cities and two water districts in June 2002 after Sen. Soto established a task force to deal with groundwater contamination by the industrial solvent perchlorate. Since 1997, such contamination has forced the closure of 20 drinking water wells...
