NOGALES, Ariz. – A Mexican teenager who threw rocks at Border Patrol agents in the Arizona city of Nogales died early Wednesday, but the manner of death is now in dispute. A Mexican official said 17-year-old Ramses Barron Torres died after he fell from a border fence and hit his head on a rock. But state police in Sonora, across the border from Arizona, said companions of the Barron Torres claim he was shot by a U.S. Border Patrol agent. Calls to Border Patrol officials weren't immediately returned Wednesday night. An FBI spokesman declined to release details of the investigation....

In remarks made yesterday during the signing of Healthy, Hunger-Free Kids Act, First Lady Michelle Obama regarding deciding what children ought to eat, “We can’t just leave it up to the parents.” She went on to say: I think that parents have a right to expect that their efforts at home won’t be undone each day in the school cafeteria or in the vending machine in the hallway. I think that our parents have a right to expect that their kids will be served fresh, healthy food that meets high nutritional standards. First off, yes we can just leave it...

Pinal County Sheriff Paul Babeu. ( Starr) ( - Paul Babeu, the sheriff of Pinal County, Arizona, says give him half an hour, and he could tell President Obama how to secure the U.S. border with Mexico -- if only the president and other administration officials would listen to him.Babeu joked that he must be on the White House “do not call” list, even though he’s the president of the Sheriff’s Association for the State of Arizona. In an interview with Fox News on Thursday, Babeu lamented the murder of a U.S. Border Patrol agent on Tuesday at the hands...

MEXICO CITY - A joint U.S.-Mexico committee met for the first time Wednesday to address border management issues and border violence....Mexico has expressed concern about the deaths of migrants during recent incidents involving U.S. Border Patrol officers, and the two countries agreed on the need to "minimize the need for United States and Mexican federal law enforcement officers to resort to lethal force." They also agreed on "patrolling on either side of the border ... to prevent and adequately respond to crime and violence, including incidents of rock-throwing, incursions, port runners, (and) assaults on law enforcement personnel." U.S. authorities say...

IS it time to leave the European Union, would we be Better Off Out? As the Daily Express courageously insists: Of course we would. Over the last 20 years I have been promoting the very simple idea that our country would be doing itself, its people and the rest of the world a great favour by returning to self-governance. And this is why. We would be Better Off Out financially by simply not paying the £48million a day to the European Union. This would be money better spent at home with priorities set by our elected representatives, rather than returned...

Ireland, a country to which nearly 40 million Americans can trace their ancestry, is on the brink of insolvency and a loss of sovereignty.    In the 1990s and the early part of this decade, Ireland's growth rate had earned it the nickname of "the Celtic Tiger." Supported by EU budget assistance, low corporate tax rates, and a labor force boosted by a spike in the working-age population, it became a key European location for U.S. foreign investment. The economic story of the 1990s was largely about export growth, but the growth of the mid-2000s, by contrast, was driven by...

A rift opened up in the coalition tonight after the Liberal Democrats accused the Tories of pandering to "populist and nationalist" sentiment over plans to subject any future transfer of sovereignty to Brussels to a referendum. Andrew Duff, an ally of Nick Clegg and the leader of the Lib Dems in the European parliament, rounded on a parliamentary bill which includes a "referendum lock" for any transfer of sovereignty. Duff said: "The move seems to be calculated to appeal to a populist and nationalist constituency which undoubtedly exists in the UK. But referenda will surely weaken the powers of Westminster...

Since the beginnings of our country, the 2 November 2010 election cycle is the most important in our nation’s history. To be sure, there have been other times in said history that were perilous; most notably under the progressive (a.k.a. leftist, Marxist, fascist) reins and reigns of Woodrow Wilson, Franklin Delano Roosevelt, Jimmy Carter and even Teddy Roosevelt. During their respective presidencies (especially under Wilson who created the Committee on Public Information [CPI] our nations’ first true ministry of propaganda--one which would prove to be [amongst other Wilson offerings] an inspiration to then burgeoning Nazi Germany). But, none of...

Excerpt from middle of article Among the many measures the Democrats want to push through Congress, is the FDA Food Safety Modernization Act (S-510), which will essentially bring the agriculture industry under the control of the federal government. From day one of this administration, the goal has been to "transform the United States of America" into a socialist-like system in which formerly-free people must get government's permission to exercise their liberty or pursue their happiness. Another measure that makes Democrats drool is the Clean Water Restoration Act (S-787). This bill would give to the federal government jurisdiction over every drop...

In Power Divided is Power Checked, Lewis reminds us that the concept of states’ rights, as bequeathed by the Founding Fathers to a grateful nation, was about a constitutional framework intended to limit the missteps of government and provide the greatest amount of freedom and decision-making power to the citizens of the “several states.” He defines the essence of our constitutional republic and highlights the legal history of the relationship between the states and the federal government. Lewis sounds the alarm for states’ rights and offers a way out of the constitutional malaise the nation finds itself in. And, if...

The pre-eminence of the British Parliament in deciding national law will be placed on the statute book for the first time, Foreign Secretary William Hague said today. - The move will not alter the existing relationship between British and European Union law, but it will make it explicitly clear that EU directives take effect in the UK only by the will of Parliament, which can be withdrawn at any time. At present, the principle of parliamentary sovereignty is enshrined in Common Law. As the UK has no written constitution, it has not – unlike other EU members including Germany –...

The Battle of Juarez is showing signs that the good guys are not prevailing. The Juarez newspaper, El Diario de Juarez, has cried uncle in its mixed stance of reporting the progress of the war. In the front page editorial that appeared recently, the editor waved the white flag and asked the cartels publicly what they want from him. The murder of a photographer and another reporter in the recent past are hitting far too close to home for him to continue to be a brave purveyor of the truth. Rep. Ted Poe (R.-Texas), who served for 30 years as a Texas prosecutor and judge before being elected to Congress, introduced legislation last week designed to force President Barack Obama to deploy a minimum of 10,000 National Guard troops at the U.S. Mexico border for the specific purpose of patrolling the border and intercepting aliens and smugglers attempting to cross illegally into the United States. The legislation would allow the president to deploy more than 10,000 National Guardsmen, but not fewer. “The president could put more than that, but he must put 10,000,” Poe told “The uniqueness of this...

In a classic case of misdirection, while the media are preoccupied with the fate of the Bush tax cuts, President Obama is preparing to attend a United Nations summit next week to endorse “innovative finance mechanisms”—global taxes—to drain even more wealth out of the U.S. economy. A draft “outcome document” produced in advance of the September 20-22 U.N. Summit on the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) commits the nations of the world to supporting “innovative financing mechanisms” to supplement foreign aid spending. The term “innovative financing mechanisms” is a U.N. euphemism for global taxes. But the document actually goes further, praising...

After turning NYC over to the Islamists and leftist sympathizers, via endorsing their 9/11 Victory Mosque (any Muslim project called “The Cordoba Initiative” has to be just that), Dictator-in-Chief Obama believes that he has found the way to both destroy opposition to his Orwellian plans for the former United States of America and introduce our country’s final demise. For attempting to do that which the Obama refuses to do (his job under the US Constitution--not George Soros and friends), the tyrant has now turned Arizona and the twenty-two other US States trying to protect their citizens over the patently corrupt...
