Senate Democrats seek to seal health care overhaul [VOTE at 1:00AM MONDAY]

(AP) – 9 minutes ago WASHINGTON — Outnumbered Republicans are pledging to delay passage of historic health care legislation as long as possible after jubilant Democrats locked in Nebraska Sen. Ben Nelson as the 60th and decisive vote. Nelson's backing puts President Barack Obama's signature issue firmly on a path for Christmas Eve passage. Democrats will need to show 60 votes on two additional occasions, with the next — and most critical — test vote set for about 1 a.m. Monday.

CAMP UR, Iraq –The Tallil Regional Training Center here established a high-speed network Nov. 15. Its 12 networked computers will be used by Iraqi soldiers to conduct administrative tasks at the RTC. Iraqi Staff Brig. Gen. Arif initiated the process to obtain the computer lab after identifying deficiencies in RTC administrative tasks. The new network allows computer users to share professional files with colleagues as well as manage personal files with password protection. Arif, who led the ribbon cutting ceremony marking the opening of the lab, challenged the RTC staff members to continue to increase their technological skills. He...

Oklahoma Woman Shoots and Kills Intruder

At 12:30 Donna Jackson woke up to her dog barking like someone was in her backyard. She went to to her backdoor and sure enough she was face to face with a man trying to break in. “Oh he’s getting ready to break the window,” said Jackson to the dispatcher. Jackson immediately went and got her shotgun, hoping an officer would get there so she didn’t have to use it. But the man trying to break in had other plans, he then grabbed some patio furniture and broke the back door. “Dear god hurry. I haven’t shot yet. Hurry,” said...

SUDDEN JIHAD SYNDROME IN AMERICA: Documented cases since 911

SUDDEN JIHAD SYNDROME (SJS): Sudden Jihad Sundrome is individual or small, un-attached groups of radicalized Islamics who decide to carry out Jihad, or Holy War, against those amongst whom they live. It usually involves a single person, but may include small groups, who are radicalized in their Mosques, their readings, their conversations, or otherwise, and who then decide on their own to wage war against those whom they live amongst. It is a very real and very dangerous occurance that a nation ignores, or tries to explain away with other politically correct or sociological explanations at their grave peril...

TEAM SPARTAN -- Combat Lifesaver Refresher Training BY: FReeper DavidOsborne

click here to view my facebook picture album for this event Team Spartan takes the time to conduct combat lifesaver team internal refresher training during the Eid Ul-Fitr break. While our Iraqi counterparts are on vacation celebrating Eid ul-Fitr our team took this opportunity to conduct Combat LifeSaver training. I chose the youngest guy on the team to practice on me with the IV. As you can see the way we do needle sticks is a bit different from what you get in a hospital office. I don't think anyone on TEAM SPARTAN will ever make a good nurse.....

By early August, the image had gone viral, enraging progressives and earning plaudits from conservatives. Now, thanks to some gumshoeing by the folks over at the Los Angeles Times, the creator of the portrait has been unmasked.</p>

TEHRAN (Reuters) - Newly re-elected President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said on Thursday his next government "would bring down the global arrogance," signaling a tougher approach by Tehran toward the West after last month's disputed election. Ahmadinejad, in his first provincial trip after the June 12 presidential vote, said Iran's enemies had tried to interfere and foment aggression in the country, referring to mass opposition protests against the official election result.

VATICAN CITY (Reuters) - Pope Benedict called on Tuesday for a "world political authority" to manage the global economy and for more government regulation of national economies to pull the world out of the current crisis and avoid a repeat. The pope made his call for a re-think of the way the world economy is run in a new encyclical which touched on a number of social issues but whose main connecting thread was how the current crisis has affected both rich and poor nations. Parts of the encyclical, titled "Charity in Truth," seemed bound to upset free marketeers because...

Obama Wants U.S. to Loan $100 Billion to Global Bailout Fund

(CNSNews.com) - President Obama has asked Congress to authorize $100 billion in loans to the International Monetary Fund (IMF) to help create a $500 billion global bailout fund. If passed by both the Senate and the House, the bill would allow the IMF to borrow up to $100 billion from the U.S. and increase the U.S. fiscal contribution to the IMF by $8 billion. “It’s a new appropriation,” Rob Blumenthal of the Senate Committee on Appropriations, the committee that drafted the bill, told CNSNews.com.
Iran Launches Airstrikes Into Iraq

(snip) "To say this complicates the Obama administration's diplomatic outreach is to put it mildly. This administration -- in fairness, not unlike the last few years of the Bush administration -- seems prepared to make an endless series of concessions to Tehran in order to secure a peaceful resolution of the nuclear issue. Yet despite these repeated overtures, the Iranians refuse to budge even an inch and instead make announcements of more centrifuges and new missiles. Now they're launching airstrikes in Iraq."
