DETROIT - An animal cruelty officer, we're told, was shot Thursday by a Detroit Police officer, who was aiming at a loose pit bull. This all started at a house on Fairport that is suspected of being a chop shop. In fact, Detroit Police were at the location investigating when they learned that three pit bulls were protecting the property. The Michigan Anti-Cruelty Society was called to safely remove the dogs. car crashed into the front of the Waldo post office after an aerosol can rolled under the car's brake pedal, leaving the driver unable to stop. The driver, Dorothy Faye Porchia, 48, of Magnolia, was unhurt but the front of the post office caved in, Waldo police chief Tom Mockbee said. OAK CREEK - A gunman killed his girlfriend and another man and wounded two others in a hotel early Friday, at one point spraying the hallways with bullets in this Milwaukee suburb, police said. The 34-year-old man, who was holding a hostage when officers arrived, surrendered to police after about 30 minutes of negotiations and was taken into custody, Police Chief Thomas Bauer said.
