Is it me or is the game passing Chairman Obama by ? The 2011 State of Confusion Address proved one thing: Our Dear Leader, Barack Hussein Obama is a shadow of his former self. We did not see the fiery, charismatic demogogue of the 2008 Popularity Contest. Last night, we saw a shell shocked man who knows the gig is up. It was almost sad to watch. Obama looked like as if he were barefoot and standing on shards of broken glass. It was almost as if you could feel his discomfort. I don't know if Obama's still smarting from...

Did you catch that? “Instead of subsidizing yesterday’s energy, let’s invest in” alternative energy. When it’s an industry he doesn’t like – oil, for example – he is quick to recognize that government subsidy is in fact “subsidizing.” But when it’s an industry he favors – like uneconomical foo-foo alternatives like solar or wind, then it’s an “investment.” How about this...

(Reuters) – U.S. President Barack Obama delivers his State of the Union address to Congress on Tuesday. His speech challenges Republicans to adopt limited spending cuts and focus on job-creating investments. Here are some reactions to the speech. House of Representatives Budget Committee Chairman Paul Ryan, in remarks prepared as the official Republican response: "Last year -- in an unprecedented failure -- Congress chose not to pass, or even propose a budget ... President Obama this evening likely will seem to nudge toward the center, in light of the fact Democrats have been trimmed from the ranks of Congress and his first two years haven’t exactly drawn a standing ovation by the rest of the nation. Since he hasn’t advanced any further far-left schemes lately, the president’s favorable ratings have improved. That’s another result of public perception that he’s not quite as frighteningly radical now as he was earlier. The fact is, this all is window dressing. Has this leopard changed its spots? Listen closely tonight. When he calls for. . .

WASHINGTON – Eager to show some budget toughness, President Barack Obama will use his State of the Union address to call for a five-year freeze on all discretionary government spending outside of national security, the White House said Tuesday. The move is almost identical to the freeze Obama called for in his address to the nation last year at this time — his current proposal would cover five years, not three years — and ultimately it may have little effect. Congress decides the budget on its own terms, and Obama has even less sway than he did in his first...

In tonight’s State of the Union Address (join us tonight beginning at 8:45 PM EST for liveblog coverage), President Obama is expected to propose a five-year spending freeze for non-defense discretionary spending. Such a freeze, while a good baby step, will do nothing to reign in the spending spree that Congress has been on since 2008. So, we’d freeze the budget, but not roll back any of the trillions of dollars in additional spending that Obama has added to the federal budget since his inauguration in 2008. Besides, this whole proposal sounds a little too familiar. I feel like we’ve...

In his State of the Union, President Obama has the opportunity, and even mission, to articulate the new direction he has taken in his presidency since the shellacking in the 2010 midterm elections. There is no doubt that he has radically changed course by backing the Bush tax cuts, sending olive branches to big business and reshuffling his team.... WASHINGTON -- The increasingly puerile spectacle of presidential State of the Union addresses is indicative of the state of the union, and is unnecessary: The Constitution requires only that the president "shall from time to time give to the Congress information of the state of the union." Justice Samuel Alito let a pained expression pass his face and muttered, "Not true." His reaction to President Barack Obama's demagogic attack on the Supreme Court's Citizens United decision aptly summed up the entire State of the Union address. Obama warned that the decision striking down restrictions on corporate spending opened "the floodgates for special interests -- including foreign corporations -- to spend without limit in our elections." But the court explicitly left untouched a statute that bans election spending by foreign corporations, even "indirectly." We kind of figured Sarah would have something more to say about President Obama’s State of the Union speech. As you will read, she doesn’t disappoint.

Participating in interviews before the State of the Union address, I tried not to sound skeptical in expressing hope that the president would somehow re-connect with Americans seething after a year that has left the homeland less secure, the jobs market less buoyant and our politics more deeply partisan. But if I did convey skepticism, it turned out to be well-founded. Barack Obama failed miserably to reconnect with the country. He briefly acknowledged “political setbacks,” “some of them…deserved.” But Obama’s concluding exclamations -- “We don't quit! I don't quit!” -- only underscored his failure to understand that a liberal policy...

Obama’s Getting Angry And Desperate… And It’s ShowingThe pundits are all having their say on President Obama’s latest campaign speech, not-so-cleverly disguised as Wednesday night’s ”State of the Union” speech... Let’s start with the bottom line: Obama’s speeches mean nothing any more. That was evident last night when he told the most audacious lies about transparency and accountability (via his claim about not hiring lobbyists to staff positions). That was the first time I’ve ever heard a President’s State of the Union speech draw laughter from both sides of the aisle when he was attempting to make a serious point....
  • Obama Rams Gays Into The Military "This Is My Rifle, This Is My Gun . . .

. . . This Is For Shooting, This Is For Fun," is what we boot Privates at Parris Island had to shout while running around the old, wooden Second Battalion barracks if we called our rifle a "gun." Since Googling, I don't have to be more descriptive as to what the disciplinary measure was about. It had something to do with a Private's privates, and not confusing them with the Private's weapon. * In President Obama's State Of The Dysfunctional Union Speech Wednesday night, he promised to deliver on his threat and payback of opening the military front door [as...
  • Glenn Beck: Obama was Cross Between Fabio and Randy "Macho Man" Savage in His State of the Union

Glenn Beck's opinion of Obama's State of the Union speech was that he came off as a cross between long-haired, "male," romance model Fabio and the 80s wrestler Randy "Macho Man" Savage. Ooooo, yeeeaaaah! On his highly-rated, FNC show yesterday, Beck let Obama have it in a brutally honest way that's defined him. More specifically, Fabio because Obama was enamored with himself, and Randy "Macho Man" Savage because he was "educating" all Americans in that typically husky, "macho man" voice about how "great" he is. Then, Beck went even blunter by charging that Obama thought all Americans are really stupid....

Barack Obama just finished his first State of the Union Address. Actually, Obama made it clear it's all about him.....not the disgust and mistrust of the people directed towards the federal government. I felt it was bland, unemotional (even though he told countless American stories that allegedly caused him to stay awake at night), and it seemed disingenuous and hollow. Of course his promises of creating jobs and making jobs the number one focus is good news even though this is an issue that should have been the major focus to begin with in 2009. He made sure to promote...

As I watched His Majesty, King Hussein Obama the First, deliver his State of the Union address, I got the feeling that instead of hearing a speech on the problems facing our great nation, I was witnessing a man on the verge of a nervous breakdown. My discomfort grew with each pathetic attempt of His Majesty to win back the favor of his assembled minions and the nation’s serfs with such bromides as: We must answer history’s call. We do not give up. I do not accept second place for the United States of America. Let’s try common sense. And...

State of the Union analysis - As is so often the case in Obama world, we can find our attention being diverted off of substance and onto style. The President and his parasites work to turn our attention from the true nature of a thing, to the shifting outline of its shadow. It's the dark art of the political pivot, practiced with daring cynicism.

Last night's State of Obama's Union address was quite the banana republic-style Chavextravaganza, complete with attacks on the judiciary, phony populism, rampant deception, and calls for LOTS more of what's driving us crazy already- Obama on Obama. Big government isn't dead... it's running wild in DC. So that got me thinking... and I dug up President Reagan's brilliant 1st State of the Union address from 1982, delivered to a heavily Democrat Congress... not all that much different than this one. Interesting juxtaposition.
