Republican operative Roger Stone was found guilty on Friday of all seven counts against him, including witness tampering and making false statements. The colorful trial lasted for nearly two weeks and featured references to “The Godfather Part II,” threats of dognapping, complaints of food poisoning and a gag order. Prosecutors portrayed Stone, 67, as a serial liar who tried to bully witnesses into not cooperating with authorities. They charged Stone with making false statements, obstruction and witness tampering. The case was one of the offshoots of former special counsel Robert Mueller’s Russia investigation and the last one referred to federal...

The jury in Roger Stone's criminal trial ended its first day of deliberations Thursday without reaching a verdict on the longtime Trump associate's charges of obstruction, lying to Congress and witness tampering. One of Stone's attorneys told reporters outside the courtroom at around 5 p.m. that the proceedings would resume Friday morning. The jury had begun deliberating at around 10:30 a.m. They sent two notes to the judge in the afternoon asking about one of the counts of making false statements. The charges, brought by the former special counsel Robert Mueller in January, allege that Stone lied to the House...

When the federal judge presiding over the trial against Roger Stone referred to the government’s star witness, Randy Credico, as “difficult” on Friday, none of the members of the jury or others in the Washington, D.C., court room overheard her pointed remarks. District Judge Amy Berman Jackson made the observation during a side bar discussion with lead government attorney Aaron Zelinsky and Stone lawyer Robert Bushchel, according to a transcript of the court proceedings obtained by the Daily Caller News Foundation. Jackson made the remark after two days of testimony that saw Credico, a comedian and longtime frenemy of Stone’s,...

Whilst on a walk close to Dingwall, I came across a site that struck me as being slightly mysterious, atmospheric and with an air of neglect about it. I was immediately fascinated, and started to try and find out more about it. I established that it was an early religious site, privately owned, and asked the landowner if I could have permission to survey it. This granted, and because of the difficult access, I began to form a plan of just how to carry this out. A specific parking place for one car was established and the survey began.

A federal judge on Thursday rejected four motions from former Trump associate Roger Stone contesting his indictment on obstruction of justice, witness tampering and other charges, adding that Stone has “no one but himself to blame” for having to stand trial in November. Stone was accused of obstruction of justice, witness tampering and lying to Congress under oath in an effort to mislead the House Intelligence Committee and the FBI about alleged dealings with WikiLeaks during the 2016 presidential election, Politico reported. Stone filed four motions to have his indictment scrapped, arguing that he was unfairly singled out during former...
  • Stone asks judge to suppress evidence against him

Roger Stone asked a judge on Friday to suppress certain evidence in the case against him, claiming that it was improperly obtained. Stone's lawyers wrote in a filing that because federal prosecutors said they will not need to prove that Russians were behind the hacks of the Democratic National Committee (DNC) or the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC), or that Russian gave hacked materials to WikiLeaks, any search warrants issued asserting that those scenarios took place were approved on an "inadequate basis." The filing states that the search warrant applications about Stone showed that the FBI initially investigated him for...

This cemetery in Yekaterinburg is a final resting place for many local stars and war heroes. But one section of the cemetery surrounded by pine trees is special. It is full of huge granite grave-stones with giant realistic portraits of people – many of them wear leather jackets or expensive suits, have thick gold chains and tattoos, hold cigarettes or keys from a Mercedes… All of them belong to representatives of the criminal world murdered in the 1990s – early 2000s. –nextpage–

Stone discussed his decision to invoke the Fifth Amendment and refusal to submit documents requested by House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jerry Nadler. “Trump is guilty, he says, and now we just need to find the evidence. I call this a fishing expedition,” he said. “I don’t think Nadler has any evidence of Russian collusion or conspiracy or treason.” He said he believes Nadler is trying to lay the groundwork for introducing articles of impeachment against Trump “in a rapidly left-wing Democratic House.” “I have elected not to participate. I’m executing my Fifth Amendment right given the fact that I’m facing...

Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s team on Friday denied allegations from former Trump adviser Roger Stone that his indictment was leaked to CNN before it was unsealed last month. “The Special Counsel’s Office is aware of no information indicating that reporters were given any advance knowledge of a possible indictment from the Special Counsel’s office,” the filing states. Stone’s legal team had filed a motion in federal court claiming his indictment had been leaked after CNN was the only network to stake out Stone's Fort Lauderdale home when he was arrested before dawn last month. CNN later aired video of the...

Federal Judge Amy Berman Jackson on Thursday dramatically restricted Roger Stone's ability to speak publicly about his case after he published an Instagram post with what appeared to be the crosshairs of a gun drawn behind her head. From this moment on, Stone may not speak publicly about the investigation or the case or any participants in the investigation or the case. "Period," Jackson adds. Jackson said Stone could issue no statements on the radio, no press releases, no blogs, no media interviews, no Facebook, Twitter, Instagram or Snapchat posts and no statements can be made on his behalf by...

The federal judge overseeing Roger Stone's criminal case in Washington, D.C., has ordered him to appear in court on Thursday to explain why the gag order she issued last week and his condition of release shouldn't be modified. The order comes after Stone, an informal adviser of President Trump, shared and quickly deleted a photo of Judge Amy Berman Jackson on his Instagram account over the weekend with what appeared to be small crosshairs next to her head.

From simple rock arches to Stonehenge, tens of thousands of imposing stone structures dot Europe’s landscapes. The origins of these megaliths have long been controversial. A new study suggests that large rock constructions first appeared in France and spread across Europe in three waves. The earliest megaliths were built in what’s now northwestern France as early as around 6,800 years ago, says archaeologist Bettina Schulz Paulsson of the University of Gothenburg in Sweden. Knowledge of these stone constructions then spread by sea to societies along Europe’s Atlantic and Mediterranean coasts, she contends in a study posted online the week of...

Republican strategist Roger Stone has filed a motion to show cause to determine if the nature of his sealed indictment was violated by the media’s presence at his much-hyped early morning arrest at his Florida home. A CNN reporter from the nation’s capital was present at the Florida arrest. “Defendant Roger J. Stone, Jr., requests a show cause order to determine whether the Court’s Order sealing the indictment of Roger J. Stone until his arrest, was violated by the premature release of a draft copy of the sealed indictment, enabling news media to attend and witness Stone’s 6 a.m. arrest,”...
