Consumer spending was flat in May, breaking a string of 10 straight months of gains, as households struggled with rising prices and automakers failed to deliver the models Americans wanted. When adjusted for inflation, spending slipped 0.1 percent, the Commerce Department said on Monday, falling for a second straight month. The report, which showed underlying inflation quickening, suggested that consumer spending would offer little support to the economy in the second quarter. In the first three months of the year, it advanced at a modest 2.2 percent annual rate. Consumer spending, which accounts for 70 percent of U.S. economic activity,...

A Pakistani man accused of killing his daughter five days after she filed for divorce to end her arranged marriage wept in court Tuesday, telling a Clayton County magistrate he is innocent. "I have done nothing wrong," Chaudhry Rashid told Chief Magistrate Daphne Walker through interpreter Younis Farhat. Farhat said Rashid speaks primarily Urdu and Punjabi. But police say Rashid, 54, used a bungee cord to strangle Sandeela Kanwal, 25, early Sunday morning in the family's Utah Drive home in Jonesboro. To put it bluntly, Texas wants President Bush to get out of the way of the state's plan to execute a Mexican for the brutal killing of two teenage girls. Bush, who presided over 152 executions as governor of Texas, wants to halt the execution of Jose Ernesto Medellin in what has become a confusing test of presidential power that the Supreme Court, which hears the case this week, ultimately will sort out. The president wants to enforce a decision by the International Court of Justice that found the convictions of Medellin and 50 other Mexican-born prisoners violated their rights...

I just found one my dogs hanging from a fence. It's still alive but one of it's eyes is now protruding out of it's socket. I tried to push it back in a little but I got scared and I don't want to damage it. Is this something that will go away on its own? Or am I being to scared and can push it in on my own? I can't really afford a vet right now, but will if need be.

Levy had been missing for a little more than one year when her remains were found in D.C.'s Rock Creek Park...
