Anyone have a stungun or tazer story? I recently purchased a new stun gun for my wife, and instead of the standard 300,000-650,000 volt guns, I purchased the 1 million volt model. Well, I took a page out of my military training and decided that we should test it out so we truly know what it will do. Like getting gassed in basic training and getting hammered by a puke laser in Afghanistan, I vounteered to do the deed. My wife really did not want to do it, or so she stated, but I talked her into it quite easily....

Has any presidential candidate ever dumped his VP nomination and replaced him with some one who would help his chances? I ask since I wonder if Obama might get rid of Biden and replace him with Hilary or is Obama's gargantuan ego making him blind to the fact that his campaign is in big time trouble>

I have suddenly noticed my link to DRUDGE takes me to a Vonage sign in page. No matter how I attempt to get to the Drudge site it takes me to the same Vonage page which asks me for my name and password. I do use Vonage but how could that have anyhting to do with a total inability to get to the Drudge site? Even if I type in DRUDGE in the search bar and go to the page of links, no matter which link to Drudge I use I go to the Vonage page. How is this possible...

The US federal government on Wednesday said it would open 3.9m acres of land in a designated petroleum reserve in Alaska for drilling as a means to help curb rising petrol prices. “This is welcome news at a time when Americans are paying record prices at the pump,” said C. Stephen Allred, assistant US Secretary for Land and Minerals. “Together with proposed new production from other offshore and onshore areas, these increased supplies will help to stabilise energy costs.’’ The Alaska decision follows one by President George W. Bush on Monday to lift a presidential ban on drilling on the US outer...

Over the past several days, the only real movement in South Carolina’s Republican Presidential Primary has been a four-point gain for Fred Thompson and a five-point decline for Mike Huckabee. The big winner from that trade-off is John McCain. The latest Rasmussen Reports telephone survey shows McCain at 28%, Huckabee at 19%, Mitt Romney at 17%, and Fred Thompson at 16%. Rudy Giuliani and Ron Paul are tied with 5% support. Giuliani is betting his entire campaign on a strong showing in Florida, where he is now tied for the lead with three others....

Hannity & Colmes was another Romney infomercial tonight. Hannity carried Romney over 3 commercial breaks. It is amazing when you contrast the gentle treatment Fox gives Romney when you contrast it with Huckabee. They don't pull any punches when Huckabee is on. They slam him with accusations but do it by saying "so and so says this about you, how are you going to respond to them when they accuse you of this?" LOL! They do this day and night on Fox and on radio and they had the audacity to question Huckabee for showing the media an ad he...

There is an unwritten rule in politics, especially WITHIN the Republican Party that the candidates don't come out and speak over one another. I am not a McCain supporter as I see him as just as liberal as Giuliani. However, I was looking forward to HEARING John McCain make his concession speech. About 90 SECONDS after McCain came out to speak, Romney comes out to interrupt McCain's speech obviously to quell any positive that might come out of McCain's concession. This guy is way to slimey.

Mississippi Sen. Trent Lott announced Monday he will leave a 35-year career in Congress in which he epitomized the Republicans' political takeover of the South after the civil rights struggles of the 1960s. Another Mid-South legislator, Sen. Lamar Alexander, R-Tenn., said later Monday he would not seek Lott's position as minority whip after a spokesman had said earlier that Alexander was considering it.In stepping down, Lott said he wanted to leave on a "positive note" after winning re-election last year to a leadership post and fostering legislation for rebuilding the Gulf Coast after Hurricane Katrina. The announcement caught many by...

Some of the guys and I are presently at the camping lodge and we’ve got a problem that requires the help of a sensible woman. My brother-in-law managed to get something in his hair this morning, and he wanted to wash it out. I can’t tell you what that something was, because he’s refused to divulge that to us thus far (I suspect that he fabricated the “tainted hair” theory to save himself some embarrassment.) My brother-in-law believes that his wife has, at some point, told him that peanut butter is a useful household hair cleaner / conditioner. His wife...

Moose are making a comeback in New York state, according to state officials. There are roughly 500 moose, all of them in northern New York, up from an estimated 50-100 a decade earlier. In the 1980s, there were only a handful of sporadic sightings, said the state Department of Environmental Conservation. Moose populations in Maine, Vermont, New Hampshire and Canada have steadily increased, and many have migrated into New York, said Chuck Dente, a big-game biologist with the DEC. He said much of the growth in recent years is due to reproduction, not just migration. "We are now receiving numerous...

We've received many requests from freepers requesting that other freepers not post to them. There are several problems with this. 1. It's impossible for us to enforce.2. We don't have the time to enforce these requests.3. We don't have the software to keep track of these requests.4. Thick skin helps.5. Ignore the poster, if you don't reply, they won't reply. Free Republic does not need a bozo filter, bozo filters are for wimps. Final note: Trolls, troublemakers, disruptors, forum pests, malcontents, RINOs, liberals, stalkers, et al, would continue posting to (harassing) someone after being asked to stop. I often wondered what exactly makes a FReeper a FReeper? Is it the simple act of reading articles on FR? Do you have to post articles or replies? To call yourself a FReeper do you need to engage in effective activism like writing letters to politicians, getting out in the street to carry signs, or, is being a FReeper an attitude. If so, what attitude is that? Knock yourself out.

Does anyone know a source for the transcript of the great call on Rush several years ago from "Karen from Whitefish?" (It pretty much persuaded me that Rush was nothing more than an entertainer) I'm spending the day transferring the files from one ancient compewder to one slightly less so. Let us remember that 43 years ago today, two of the greatest men of the 20th century died, C.S. Lewis and Aldous Huxley. And some Massachussetts playboy also died, after making hedonism okay in the White House.

CINCINNATI - Nick Davila fought back tears while hugging his family and friends in the middle of a rare, raucous Cincinnati celebration. He had good reason to get choked up. The senior quarterback who had never started a game led the Bearcats to their biggest upset in school history Saturday night, a 30-11 victory over No. 7 Rutgers that ended the Scarlet Knights' perfect season and national title aspirations. "I'm just caught up in the moment right now," said Davila, who scored on a 1-yard run and threw an 83-yard touchdown pass. "I can't explain what's going on. It's so...

Ladies and Gentlemen, I hope that the carnage experienced last night leaves a very bitter taste in your mouths and that you awaken this morning wiser than when you went to bed. The American people have spoken and they have chosen a new direction not because the Democrats offer anything better but because you failed to offer leadership. People crave leadership and if they do not get it they will latch on to the first person or group they think offers it. Germans craved leadership so badly they elected Hitler to lead them because there was no one who stood...

Mice, contrary to popular belief and cartoons like Tom and Jerry, don't actually like cheese, British researchers said after studying their diet and those of other animals. Instead, the tiny rodents prefer foods with a high sugar content like grains and fruit and would turn their noses up at something as strong in smell and rich in taste as cheese, scientists in Manchester in northwest England said. Animal behaviourist David Holmes, from Manchester Metropolitan University, said: "Clearly the supposition of mice liking cheese is a popular premise. Mice have evolved almost entirely without cheese or anything resembling it. "Mice respond...

Behold Star Trek's "new" Enterprise. Star Trek purists, take a deep breath! On Sept. 16, the iconic ‘60s series will return to syndication for the first time since 1990, but with a startling difference: All 79 episodes are being digitally remastered with computer-generated effects not possible when Gene Roddenberry created the show 40 years ago. The news could cause Roddenberry loyalists to have a collective cow, but the longtime Trek staffers in charge of the makeover say they're honoring the late maestro's vision, not changing it. "We're taking great pains to respect the integrity and style of the original," says...

Thanks to the U.S. Senate's remarkable but well-known lack of backbone, nations such as Albania, Croatia, Uganda and many others now will be able to call up the U.S. Justice Department and find out as much as they would like about anything you do with your computer. At this point, you probably wonder why you haven't read about this. Frankly, there's not much reason you would have, unless you read some relatively obscure publications that focus mostly on technology issues. Another reason you wouldn't likely have heard of it is, of course, that most major media outlets ignored the issue...

MIAMI BEACH, Fla. -- Detroit Pistons center Dale Davis was shocked with a stun gun and charged with assault and disorderly conduct in an altercation with Miami Beach police. Davis was arrested Tuesday at a Miami Beach hotel and accused of threatening police, security guards and shouting profanities, police said. Chubby Wells, Davis' agent, said he plans to file a lawsuit against police for their treatment of the 15-year NBA veteran. "It was so ridiculous, it's unbelievable," Wells said. "We're going to take a stand." Police were called to the hotel by the security workers and Davis was repeatedly asked...

(New Britain-WTNH, July 12, 2006 5:55 AM) _ It was a wild scene in New Britain last night. A man armed with a pitchfork is dead after police zapped him with a Taser gun. Around 5:30 p.m. last night, state police asked for help in finding a man who witnesses say was on Route 9 stabbing a car with a pitchfork. New Britain officers found the man who had walked to Peter Court. As they tried approaching the man, officers say he jumped through a plate glass window, cutting himself. Then he jumped on the hood of a car and...
