According to the Congressional Budget Office, $8.7 billion of the money collected in student loan interest payments actually goes to pay for ObamaCare. The CBO estimates that the interest rate on these loans could be reduced from 6.8 percent to only 5.3 percent were the funds not used to subsidize the healthcare reform law and other federal programs. The profits from student loans are divided as follows: $8.7 billion goes to pay for ObamaCare; $10.3 billion goes to pay down the federal debt; and $36 billion goes to Pell Scholarship grants. The 16 million American students who now have student...

Most Wichita-area residents breathed a sigh of relief last December when former Gov. Mark Parkinson, along with city and county officials, inked a $45 million deal for aviation manufacturer Hawker Beechcraft to maintain 4,000 jobs in Wichita. The deal was cut after months of community drama in which company officials threatened to uproot the 75-year-old Wichita company and move it, lock, stock and barrel, to Louisiana. The company had also demanded that union contracts be set aside and vowed to send pieces of the company to Mexico. These threats came after Hawker Beechcraft had cut its Kansas workforce by one-third...

New Mexico is paying to bus and educate Mexican students in the United States… And, they’ve been doing this for 40 years! Pancho Villa would be proud. Via Judicial Watch: In a town famous for Pancho Villa’s ransacking, the purloining still occurs; this time horses and mules are not disappearing, but taxpayer money is. Columbus, New Mexico is just 3 miles north of Palomas, Mexico and is one of the many border towns mired in the border fence, illegal immigration, and drug smuggling. The culprit in this case, however, is not El Chapo or a coyote, but rather residents in...

Take a vacation: It's your right April 25, 2010 By DALE McFEATTERS The bureaucrats of the European Union, unfettered by such sovereign niceties as government and voters, are free to think Big Thoughts. And here’s the latest: Decreeing tourism and vacations basic human rights. This is the brain child of Antonio Tajani, the EU’s commissioner for enterprise and industry, who plans to subsidize vacations for those too poor to afford one and lots of other people, as well. The time off isn’t a problem. The EU already mandates a standard of a minimum four weeks’ vacation for member nations, and...

For decades we have welcomed new immigrants to our American "melting pot". We respect those who come here peacefully to pursue their American Dream. But Americans have noticed lately that modern problems associated with illegal immigration are at a crisis point. Taxpayers are now suffering the consequences. Costs of social services for the estimated 21 million illegal immigrants in this country are approaching $400 billion. We educate 4.2 million children of illegals at a cost of $13.8 billion. There have been almost 2 million anchor babies born in this country since 2002, with labor and delivery costs of between $3...
