VIA SURVEYUSA There are so many terrible things in the latest SurveyUSA Oregon poll for Democrats that we don't really know where to start. However, it is important to note that SurveyUSA, like any poll, should be taken with a grain of salt. In the primaries, SurveyUSA was often the most reliable in the Clinton-Obama race, but it was off by large margins in some contests (we remember North Carolina being one of them, but must note everyone but Rasmussen was off in North Carolina...SurveyUSA nailed other contests perfectly, and it seems its sampling problems were 100% tied to high...

New poll numbers show Barack Obama’s lead over Johon McCain slipping among Minnesota voters. The exclusive 5 EYEWITNESS NEWS/SURVEY USA Poll shows Obama holding a one-point lead over McCain, with the margin of error at a statistical dead heat Tuesday. Just two weeks ago, Obama held a five-point lead in Minnesota. Nationally, it’s a slightly different story: A new ABC News poll has Obama ahead of McCain 48 to 42-percent. Obama’s lead is down a percentage point from one month ago.

A poll by SurveyUSA , as of January 26, 2006, should make the GOP very nervous. For example the top ten senators with the highest job approval consist of six Democrats, two RINOS and one maverick. Republicans in the top ten are Snowe (*RINO-ME) 75%, Collins (*RINO-ME) 72% -- and senate "president," John McCain71%. Pete Domenici (R-NM) and Kay Hutchison (R-TX) share the tenth spot with a 63% approval. The bottom ten senators with the lowest ratings consist of eight Republicans and two Democrats. Two senators that deserve their low scores are Voinovich (R-OH) 49-40% and DeWine (R-OH) 47-41% The...

Interviews in the Virginia governor's race conducted by SurveyUSA tonight Monday 11/7 (but before President Bush appeared in Richmond) show a swing back towards Republican candidate Jerry Kilgore, causing SurveyUSA to now update its final projection in the Virginia Governor's Contest. This morning, based on interviews conducted Friday, Saturday and Sunday (11/4/05 through 11/6/05), SurveyUSA released data that showed Democrat Tim Kaine 9 points ahead of Kilgore. However, because of intra-day volatility in that data, SurveyUSA continued to poll throughout the afternoon and evening today Monday 11/7. When interviews from the most recent 3 days -- Saturday, Sunday and today...

Persia's kings are history's great villains. Does the British Museum's show do them justice? By Jonathan Jones The title of this exhibition is a bit misleading. Forgotten Empire, the British Museum calls its spectacular resurrection of ancient Persia. Yet the Persians are as notorious in their way as Darth Vader, the Sheriff of Nottingham, General Custer, or any other embodiment of evil empire you care to mention. They are history's original villains. In its day, which lasted from the middle of the 500s BC until the defeat of Darius III by Alexander the Great in 331 BC, the Persian empire...

Kilgore Opens Strong In VA A couple days ago I was bemoaning the lack of polls from Virginia. Today, Survey USA fills that void. VIRGINIA GOVERNOR Kilgore (R) 46% Kaine (D) 36% Potts (I) 6% Good to see Kilgore has a double-digit lead even when the “Independent-Republican” candidate is included. Looking at the demographics, it is hard to say the Potts is hurting either Kilgore or Kaine, more like he is taking votes away from both equally. This poll was done March 8-9 of 493 registered voters.

I've analyzed the pre-election surveys of the 10 major multi-state polling firms. They were: American Research Group (ARG), Fox, Gallup, Quinnipiac (Q), Research 2000 (R2000), Rasmussen (Ras), Strategic Vision (SV) Survey USA (SUSA), and Zogby. I found Survey USA to be the best. Of the 35 states which I researched, SUSA polled in 29 of them. They were correct every time. What was truly astounding was their track record in states where the contest was not close. SUSA was largely on their own polling in these states, and such contests are often very unpredictable since creating turnout models is virtually...
