The Trump White House has intervened to weaken one of the few public health protections pursued by its own administration, a rule to limit the use of a toxic industrial compound in consumer products, according to communications between the White House and Environmental Protection Agency. The Journal Register Co. has filed for bankruptcy protection from its creditors and says slumping advertising revenue and circulation are to blame. In court documents filed Saturday in U.S. Bankruptcy Court in Manhattan, company Chairman and Chief Executive James W. The Minneapolis Star Tribune filed a Chapter 11 bankruptcy petition Thursday night. The filing had been anticipated for several months.
