Citing a lack of interest, the Nevada Republican Party has called off its state convention and will instead pick its delegates to the national convention by private conference call. The state party broke up its original convention in April when supporters of Ron Paul hijacked the proceedings and tried to elect delegates for their candidate to the national GOP convention in September. Party officials tried to reconvene on July 26, but they needed a quorum of 675 and received only 300 RSVPs, according to local reports. “With so many people concerned about the economy, it simply wouldn’t be fair for...

Tuesday, July 22, 2008 If they expected us to retire quietly from the scene, the political elite are in for a surprise. Today I am making some very big announcements. First, from August 31 to September 2 in Minneapolis, we will host a handful of events that will shake the political establishment. Everything will culminate on Tuesday with the official launch of the Campaign for Liberty at the Rally for the Republic. The Campaign for Liberty will be the largest organization for peace, freedom, the Constitution, and sound money in American history. It will launch in grand fashion with lots...

Obama's Gang of Anti-Israel Advisors by Bridget Geegan Blanton While Jewish communities around the world celebrated the 60th anniversary of the state of Israel,... ...Obama marked the occasion by picking up another known, anti-Israel advisor. Following in the wake of Obama campaign advisor, Joseph Cirincione’s inane statement declaring that Israel should give up its nukes in order to prevent Iran from obtaining nuclear weapons; former congressman David Bonior joined team Obama. Bonior’s long standing anti-Israel congressional voting record underscores the observation that Obama adheres to an alarming prerogative in appointing anti-Israel advisors. The penchant for anti-Israel policy coming out of...

Many feel a kinship with the Democrat, who they say can repair America's reputation abroad. Saleh Mubarak is Syrian-American. He's 49, a Tampa engineer, a former longtime Republican. And he supports Democratic Sen. Barack Obama for president, following a trend in the country's Arab-American community. "The American image in the outside world has been damaged, and we want someone who will reach out to others and say, 'Let's sit at the table and talk,'" said Mubarak, who emigrated from Syria in 1981. "That's what attracted me to Obama. He said, 'I will sit with Iran, I will sit with anyone.'"...

Quietly, while Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama have been inspiring Democrats everywhere with their rolling bitchfest, congressional superduo Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi have completed one of the most awesome political collapses since Neville Chamberlain. At long last, the Democratic leaders of Congress have publicly surrendered on the Iraq War, just one year after being swept into power with a firm mandate to end it.

The Legacy of Multiculturalism by Bridget Geegan Blanton In a manner as openly deceitful as the ACLU, .... .... Islamic extremist front groups are abusing the court system as they deride the true meaning of the first amendment, and drag it through the dirt with petty grievance lawsuits that scarcely conceal their primary intent, which is to suppress free speech. These groups cloak themselves with a smokescreen of multiculturalism and lash out virulently against the slightest criticism with legal blowback designed to deflect scrutiny from the inner workings of their organizations. This legal ploy is being played out in every...

An Iraqi soldier is accused of turning on two decorated American servicemen and shooting them to death during a joint operation in northern Iraq, the U.S. military said Saturday. An Iraqi official said the suspect may have links to militant groups. The shooting the day after Christmas in the northern city of Mosul, which left three other U.S. soldiers and a civilian interpreter wounded, was the second known attack by a member of the Iraqi military on the American troops who train and work closely with Iraqi forces. Initial results from an Iraqi investigation indicate that the soldier who opened...

Harry Reid doesn't know when to give up, or more precisely, when to give up on giving up. After spending the last several months trying to live down his declaration of America's defeat in Iraq on the Senate floor, Reid once again gave al-Qaeda a propaganda boost that sounds as if he took it from Ayman al-Zawahiri's latest video message: Indeed, Republicans have gotten their way in the battle over spending, have forced Democrats to jettison rollbacks of tax breaks for oil companies, and have beaten back attempts to pay for expanded children's health care programs with a tobacco tax...

Heroes vs. Their Critics The Latter Often Invent Phony Villains Sometimes a writer can be so insightful about war, politics and psychology that his thoughts should be repeated and studied. Blogger J.D. Johannes achieved that rare pinnacle when he penned a critique of all the latest anti-war movies, and why they will fail at the box office, but his analysis goes far beyond the entertainment community. “When confronted with a real life situation, like the wars in Iraq, Afghanistan and larger war on terror, a few will step up to be heroes. “The many who do not have the ability...

A Simple Way to End the War on Terror by Yacka Jah Yacka Tue Oct 23, 2007 at 09:03:20 PM PDT While it appears from more than one point of view that the War in Iraq and the War on Terror are situations from which we may never be able to extricate ourselves, from the mountains of Pakistan comes a very simple solution: convert to Islam. Before we reject this out of hand, lets seriously consider it for a moment: Osama Bin Laden promised the wars would be over if Americans convert to Islam. This may sound like a lot...

Making a run for freedom Posted on Sat, Oct. 06, 2007 By NICHOLAS SPANGLER The remarkable thing about running through downtown Miami at lunch hour in nothing but Nikes and a red, white and blue thong is how many people don't notice. They were talking on their phones; shuffling documents; concentrating on walking. Not until he climbed the steps of the Miami-Dade Courthouse did a few lawyerly types point and smile at the nearly naked man. He was Michael Tisdale, a lumberjack hailing from the Redland, protesting the state of the nation. This had nothing to do with his being...

Will Pinch Sulzberger Lose The New York Times? Monday , October 01, 2007 By Thomas Lifson Arthur Ochs Sulzberger Jr., known all but universally as "Pinch", may well be the last member of the Sulzberger/Ochs family to run the world-famous newspaper company. He is trapped in a financial and competitive trap of his own making, and may have to rely on new money coming into the company at the price of relinquishing his managerial power. Christopher Alleva already explained last week that the incredible shrinking equity resulting from the combination of high dividends and low profits is already raising questions...

Muslim sect causes stir in Walkersville Group buying farm for retreat; town considers zoning change By Rona Marech Sun reporter August 30, 2007 WALKERSVILLE This small town of shady porches and green fields saw its last murder in 1929. The mayor runs a feed and seed store, where on Monday nights he presides over a long-running dominoes game. Many people live here because their parents and grandparents lived here before them. And they like things the way they are. So, a Muslim group's plan to purchase 224 acres of farmland to use for an annual convention and other activities has...

The Peace Racket Bruce Bawer An anti-Western movement touts dictators, advocates appeasement—and gains momentum. If you want peace, prepare for war.” Thus counseled Roman general Flavius Vegetius Renatus over 1,600 years ago. Nine centuries before that, Sun Tzu offered essentially the same advice, and it’s to him that Vegetius’s line is attributed at the beginning of a film that I saw recently at Oslo’s Nobel Peace Center. Yet the film cites this ancient wisdom only to reject it. After serving up a perverse potted history of the cold war, the thrust of which is that the peace movement brought down...

Ga. mayor's outreach to Venezuelan leader upsets some residents Associated Press - August 12, 2007 MACON, Ga. Some local leaders have blasted the mayor's decision to support Chavez -- who is a vocal ally of Iran...

Would Jesus Eat at McDonald's? Saturday 11th Aug 2007 by David Paulin The intellectual elite of the Presbyterian Church (USA) have in recent years joined ranks with the radical left. Its members vilify Israel, apologize for Islamic terrorists, and cheer on the Palestinian cause. Now, these Presbyterians have another villain: the Big Mac. America’s most famous hamburger is emblematic of the dark underbelly of globalization, according to David Hadley Jensen, an associate professor of something called “constructive theology” at Austin Presbyterian Theological Seminary in Austin, Texas. On top of that, McDonald’s and its iconic burger are even at odds with...

Cameron Diaz Apologizes for Maoist Bag Jun 24 09:52 PM US/Eastern LIMA, Peru (AP) - Cameron Diaz apologized Sunday for wearing a bag with a political slogan that evoked painful memories in Peru. "I have always been an advocate for nonviolence and I have stood as firmly against the Iraq war as I did the Vietnam War 40 years ago," she wrote. "I realize now that I might have contributed to a better...
