Hi guys, I was just wondering if anybody had seen Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer. I saw it this weekend and I liked it a lot. The movie vastly improved on the original and included some terrific adventure. The film is very humorous by showing the squabbling relationships among the four heroes without diverting from the mythic atmosphere and storyline. The Silver Surfer is a wonderful character, though I wish that they showed more of him. The final battle with Doctor Doom is awesome. The film took many elements from some of the classic storylines in the comic...

LONDON (AFP) - A suspect was slammed in the cells after he broke wind in a British court then burst out laughing about it. Joseph Wildy let rip and refused to apologise after he had a fit of the giggles with his co-defendants on Tuesday. However, magistrate Simon Bridge, sitting in Blackpool, on the northwest coast of England, was not amused by his interruption. He found Wildy in contempt of court and ordered him to be locked up. After cooling off in the cells, Wildy returned to court 90 minutes later and apologised to Bridge. "He was laughing in court,...

Now the rap superstar has a new favorite drink: water. - - - - - Snip - - - - "I figure that once I stumbled upon that, if the information was out and young people knew that these problems exist while we're having Poland Springs at Cipriani and things like that, that we'll get involved," said the 36-year-old rapper, referring to the high-class restaurant chain.

John McCain showed such moral uprightness in 2008--Kerry Tried to use him as a pawn but Kerry found him to be more of a Bishop or a Knight, the dudes a POW, he's sensitive yet again-he stands up for whats right. An Officer and a Gentleman---Questions? Answers? Whatever your race or creed, I think this guy deserves a serious look, more serious than 2004.

What have we accomplished that we, as conservatives, see as goals since 2000? And no - this is not a "let's bash Bush" thread - it is an assessment thread. Locally and nationally during the clinton years I was quite upset at how some things were going. From 'outcome based education' to Waco to Aldrich to new laws post-Okie City. I worked on a local level with Republican reps to defeat several items (OBE being one such item). I would be remiss if I did not say I was somewhat disappointed in some areas (Locally in Ohio and Nationally) with...

Brian Kilmeade on Fox & Friends this morning is saying that DPWorld ports is taking over security at US ports when they are not. And now Kilmeade is saying that a perfectly legitimate business deal in the takeover of P&O ports was manipulated by some sheik. Hey Brian, your employer Fox News has big share of ownership by a saudi sheik. Saudi prince buys large share of Fox News Also Michelle Malkin and Frank Gaffney are always running to get their mugs on the part saudi owned Fox News. How come she is never criticized for appearing on a network...

I've been trying to follow the debate on Harriet Miers, and I have seen most issues (2nd Amendment, gay rights, corporate law, pro-choice, and a few others) debated one way or the other. However, I have not seen anything that addresses whether or not she will support continued 'reverse discrimination' (affectionately known to, and sugar-coated by liberals as 'affirmative action'). Has anyone seen anything about her position on racial preferences, governmental racial 'set asides', preferential hiring, and preferential college admissions, etc.) and other forms of reverse discrimination?

PENGUINS BUILDING STANLEY CUP CONTENDER by Joe Sager pittsburghpenguins.com 09/09/2005 Are you ready for some hockey? The Pittsburgh Penguins hit the ice Wednesday in the most-anticipated training camp in recent memory. Following a 310-day work stoppage that wiped out the 2003-04 season, the NHL and the Penguins are back and better than ever. “Everywhere we go, it’s very exciting. People can’t wait for the season to start,” said Penguins captain Mario Lemieux. “It’s a very exciting time for Pittsburgh and the fans.” The mere fact that hockey is back is enough to fire up Penguins fans. Add in an unprecedented...

On 9/11 over 3,000 Americans were killed, on 7/7 scores of British citizens were killed and hundreds wounded. In Iraq, Islamic terrorists blew up an American soldier and over 20 children to whom he was giving candy and toys.So what was the Senate Armed Services Committee doing today to protect us against further attacks? Holding hearings on the alleged of "degrading" and "humiliating" "abuse" of Gitmo terrorists., including the admitted 20th hijacker. And what awful things did we subject him to down there at Club Gitmo? Here's the rundown of the barbaric treatment inflicted on the guy who wanted to...

Who is this award named for? Judge Elihu Smails, the character in the film Caddyshack who asks of the obnoxious but lovable Al Czervick (played by Rodney Dangerfield), “Good Lord, what has this buffoon done now?” As a special tribute to Judge Smails, every week we will issue this award to the biggest buffoon of the week … the person who, through his or her actions or public statements, has made a buffoon of themselves and everyone associated with them. Please note that since we slammed John "Crushed" Kerry on a daily basis when the site name was "crushkerry", he...

If anyone thinks that Hillary Clinton is not running for President in 2008 is smoking crack - a lot of it. This is especially true after the news that Hillary has been named by the moderate/centrist DLC to head up an initiative to define the party's agenda. Forget for a moment just how bad a shape the Democrats are in that they need an "initiative" to define a "party agenda". Most parties call these things "core beliefs" and no "initiative" is needed to define them. Be that as it may, it appears that Hillary is using this position to unite...

The newly engaged Katie Holmes still has some explaining to do to her friends and family. There were 16 days in April during which no one seems to know where she was. Holmes made a public appearance on April 4 at the premiere of "Steel Magnolias" on Broadway. She came with her publicist, Leslie Sloane Zelnick, and a couple of other friends. They were there to support Rebecca Gayheart, who was making her Broadway debut. I know this because I spoke to Holmes at length during the play's intermission. She said she had just moved into her New York apartment...

I'm planning a trip to the US (won't be for a while yet, I need to get the money and the leave to do it) and I'm looking at some ideas for a 4 to 8 week trip (4 weeks if Mrs. Dundee decides to come, 8 weeks if it's just me). I'd want to start on the East Coast and make my way west. The first stop I'd plan on would be Washington DC (for all the usual touristy things plus meeting some of my counterparts in the Pentagon). I'm thinking that Arlington might be a good place to...

TO ALL THE KIDS WHO SURVIVED the 1930's 40's, 50's, 60's and 70's !! First, we survived being born to mothers who smoked and/or drank while they carried us. They took aspirin, ate blue cheese dressing, tuna from a can, and didn't get tested for diabetes. Then after that trauma, our baby cribs were covered with bright colored lead-based paints. We had no childproof lids on medicine bottles, doors or cabinets and when we rode our bikes, we had no helmets, not to mention, the risks we took hitchhiking. As children, we would ride in cars with no seat belts...

A couple of Sundays ago our preacher was talking about the bad things that can come from telling and spreading rumors, and how the tongue can be hurtful, etc. As part of his sermon, he stated that sometime after Lincoln's death a rumor began to spread that his body was not inside the coffin. So, it was exhumed and viewed to verify it was there. Then again in 1901, he said, it was dug up again. Why? Same rumor. I thought this was exceptionally odd but possible and so I got online and found this quote from the above site:...

Each sunday morning on WQXI here in Atlanta, there's a ultra-liberal on the radio by the name of Ike Newkirk. While he claims that he's open minded,he's not. If he does not agree with a caller's comments,he classifies them as a "Freeper"and hangs up on them. I'm wondering where are all of the local people on sundays between 6 and 9 Am? Perhaps we should let him know that there are really Freepers, present and accounted for. Anyway, you can hear him on the net at this site. http://www.790thezone.com/Multimedia/ListenLive.aspx Hope you'll show up.

Hey.............. folks............. let's be honest.I have had so many decent oldtime FReepers telling me over the past days that the old liberal media is "past tense" and irrelevant.I find this completely foolish and destructive........... as destructive as the old media continues to be.I am so "sick and tired" (Hillary) of this talk. This country is in deep trouble still because of all the ways that the old media distorts events. Can you please take a moment of your life to pass along that .......... the old liberal media is still so destructive, pass it along to any of your friends who may...

Ok, so I'm embroiled in a arguement with the local Atheists in regards to the Estes Park Recall of the mullet who rufused to say the pledge. The more I go through the debate, The more I recognize that Atheism is as much a leap of faith religion as any other...Am I wrong? Is Atheism a religon? And if it is, would that be reason enough to keep it out of the Federal and State goverment? Help a fella out. If godlessness is the state religon, Isn't that a socialist/Communist tenant?

I'll be brief. The greatest King of the Hill quote of all time: PEGGY: Oh, give me a break. I don't see how having a girl on the team would ruin it. Did a woman judge ruin the Supreme Court? HANK: Yes, and that woman's name was Earl Warren.

(This post appeared on the blog Museum of Left Wing Lunacy) This is something I figured many of you would get a kick out of. :) Donald Trump does a daily broadcast bit for some radio stations where he talks about all kinds of things. Yesterday, his topic was the upcoming retirement of Dan Blather. Here's what he said: "On Wednesday, March 9, Dan Rather leaves his long-time post in the anchor chair at CBS News. A few people may not love the idea that Dan’s leaving. I say good riddance. Somehow Dan has managed to survive even though he’s...

Reading a recent Fox News Poll showing that Social Security reform is primarily being opposed by those who haven't taken care over their own retirement got me upset. But then, reading further articles on the subject it turns out that the anger was for the most part, misdirected. After all, these people are not the ones voting on the plan. Thus,I decided to turn my ire towards supposedly conservative lawmakers who are hiding in the corner on Social Security reform because of poll numbers. I mean, these people are supposed to be "on our team" . And by "on our...

We all understand seed produces after it's own kind. If you plant pumpkin seeds you're going to get a pumpkin, if you plant cucumber seeds you're going to get cucumbers, etc. This makes sense doesn't it? Even wheat seeds found in the pyramids and planted produced wheat. Jesus says that the seed is the Word of God. Paul taught a person the Word of God and he became a Christian. Peter taught a person the Word of God and he became a Christian. The Word of God makes a Christian. If you ask someone about their religion and they say...

I am quite certain that I am not the first individual to give this idea serious thought, so I am hoping that a few of my fellow freepers out there will lend me a few of theirs. It is almost certain that Hillary will try to make a run for the White House in 2008 and if she does, she is almost certain to pose serious competition to any Republican challenger for obvious reasons. 1. She is a female. Feminists would fall all over themselves to put someone like her in office. 2. Who else do the dems really have...

The National Hockey League, on the verge of canceling the season over a salary dispute with the player's union, announced that negotiations would end today with a "bare-knuckle fistfight between the lawyers." Gary Bettman, the attorney who serves as NHL commissioner and Bob Goodenow, a lawyer and executive director of the player's union, will "throw down the gloves" at an arena yet to be named. Tickets for the event have already sold out. If Mr. Bettman wins, the NHL imposes a salary cap at 55 percent of revenues. If Mr. Goodenow wins, the players receive a 24-percent pay cut, but...

BILL GATES' 11 RULES THAT STUDENTS DO NOT LEARN IN SCHOOL In Bill Gates' new book (Business @ The Speed of Thought), he lays out 11 rules that students do not learn in high school or college, but should. He argues that our feel-good, politically-correct teachings have created a generation of kids with no concept of reality who are set up for failure in the real world. RULE 1 - Life is not fair; get used to it. RULE 2 - The world won't care about your self-esteem. The world will expect you to accomplish something BEFORE you feel good...

The two most abundant things in the universe are Hydrogen and Stupidity. (not necessarily in that order) If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is. A conclusion is the place where you got tired of thinking. He who hesitates is probably right. For every action, there is an equal and opposite criticism. The problem with the gene pool is that there is no lifeguard. No one is listening until you make a mistake. Finding a job is easy, if you already have one.
