After a year of fundraising, months of planning, and 46 hours of dancing, this year’s IFC/Panhellenic Dance Marathon shattered last year’s final total and raise a whopping $13,343,517.33 For The Kids. With the flipping of those iconic white placards by the 2014 Executive Committee, another beautiful chapter was added to the story of THON — our story of THON. This is the tenth straight year THON raised more money than the previous year. Since 1977, when THON and the Four Diamonds Fund paired up for a common cause, more than $100 million has been raised, excluding this year’s efforts....

Hershey Medical Center -- draws in thousands of spectators and more than 300 families affected by pediatric cancer each year. This year’s event at the Bryce Jordan Center kicks off at 6 p.m. Friday evening and will end at 4 p.m. Sunday. If you’re planning on making the trip to State College this...

Burn Penn State to the ground. Salt the earth. Dig up Joe and burn HIM. This is the weekend where you can say anything about Penn State and it won't bother me. But do me two favors. Watch the documentary (or at least the promo) linked, and donate to Thon - OR YOUR local pediatric cancer charity. Since 1977, THON has donated over $89 Million to it's sole beneficiary - the Four Diamonds Fund/Hershey Medical Center. Over 96% of the take actually goes For The Kids. It is the largest student run philanthropy in the world. Why We Dance -...

2012 THON Recap Video You won't read about this in many of the papers or see stories about it on espn or cnn. There weren't news vans lining the streets of State College last weekend, but THIS is the real Penn State - the one that just raised nearly $10.7 million FTK (For The Kids). For 40 years the students at Penn State have organized and run a dance marathon. Since the late 70's, it has solely benefited the Four Diamonds Fund at Hershey Medical Center. Four Diamonds' goal is to simply eradicate childhood cancer, while providing superior care, comprehensive...

THON breaks previous record The Bryce Jordan Center crowd erupted in ecstatic cheers and applause as the THON overall committee revealed this year's grand total of $7,838,054.36, surpassing last year's total of $7,490,133.87. The moment came after dancers sat for the first time in 46 hours and supporters packed the stands, anxiously anticipating the long-awaited reveal. Before the total was announced, Roxana Gbetibouo (senior-public relations) predicted it would be higher than last year's, to the tune of $9.3 million. Gbetibouo, the national secretary and THON chair for the NAACP, said the big reveal is always emotional for her and that...
