(CNSNews.com) – Power plants generating 72 gigawatts (GW) of electricity in 37 states have either closed or are scheduled to shut their doors to comply with Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) regulations, according to the Institute for Energy Research (IER). The loss of generating capacity is “over seven times the amount originally predicted by EPA modeling,” IER’s updated report, released October 7, noted. “Originally, EPA calculated that only 9.5 GW of electrical generating capacity would close as a result of its MATS (Mercury and Air Toxics Standard) and CSAPR (Cross State Air Pollution Rule) rules,” the report stated. “Before President Obama’s...

College students overwhelmingly swung for President Obama in 2008 and 2012, but they’re now finding their on-campus work hours cut back, thanks to Obamacare. The latest example comes from the University of Colorado Boulder, where administrators posted an online notice last week informing students that their university-provided employment would be capped at 25 hours per week as a result of the Affordable Care Act.

A federal judge on Tuesday sentenced a former Alcoa City Schools staffer to 40 months in prison in a $428,000 embezzlement scheme. In a six-year scheme, Kathy Ann Winters siphoned money from the school district and two state educational groups where she served as treasurer. Her thievery was discovered in a 2012 audit by the state Comptroller's Office. Yesterday Secret Service Director Julia Pierson fielded questions from furious and skeptical lawmakers after a number of serious failures by the agency to properly protect the President. Officers arrested and charged 10 teenagers and one adult as of Monday evening in the attack that happened in a Kroger parking lot. Police arrested and charged Raheem Richardson,19, with aggravated assault and aggravated riot. MEMPHIS, TN - (WMC-TV) - Three Tennesseans are dead following an outbreak of fungal meningitis. In all, 25 cases have been reported in the state. Officials at the Memphis Shelby County Health Department say these meningitis outbreaks have been contained to Middle and East Tennessee. They say there have been no reported cases of meningitis in Memphis, Shelby County, or other parts of West Tennessee.
