Forest Lake / Palin's husband to attend race event Todd Palin, who could be America's "second man" come January, is slated to attend a large snowmobile event Saturday in Forest Lake, according to an event sponsor. Palin, the husband of Republican vice presidential nominee and Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, is the four-time champion of the famed Tosoro Iron Dog race, a 2,000-mile run stretching across Alaska.

For a man well seasoned in dealing with the Alaskan back country, Todd Palin is still adjusting to the wilderness of Washington and the searing national spotlight that was thrust on him and his family when his wife, Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, was tapped to be the first ever female Republican vice presidential nominee.

ABC News' Jennifer Duck Reports: You might say Todd Palin was part of the First Wives Club today at the Minneapolis Hilton in "a Tribute to Cindy McCain." Elisabeth Hasselbeck of "The View" was MC at the luncheon and introduced Cindy McCain and Todd Palin as "the next First Lady and future first Second Man." Hasselbeck added, "You better get your game face on because America fell in love with your wife last night."

Former Gov. Christie Whitman believes the Republican Party is in deep trouble. The GOP, she says, is now where the Democrats were a dozen years ago in Washington when they lost control of the House for the first time in 40 years.
