Is it possible to be the anti-establishment candidate in a Republican primary for the U.S. Senate and be the choice of the Republican establishment in your state at the same time? By definition, this would seem impossible. Yet, State Senator Joni Ernst has managed to be the establishment backed, anti-establishment candidate in Iowa’s Republican U.S. Senate primary. Iowa’s Lt. Governor Kim Reynolds was an early endorser of Ernst’s campaign, and Governor Terry Branstad has reportedly been helpful behind the scenes, especially in the fundraising department. Ernst has also been backed by national Republican establishment figures like Mitt Romney, Sen. John...

The Brody File was watching Sarah Palin’s comedy bit on The Tonight Show With Jimmy Fallon and it made me wonder the following: Is Sarah Palin relevant? The answer is a bit complicated. Is she taking seriously as a politician by the liberal mainstream media? No. But do they still pay attention to her every move? Yes they do. Why is that? Yes, part of it has to do with the fact that there is a certain carnival atmosphere surrounding how she goes about her business. I mean, she knows how to command an audience and entertain. But let's not...

Maybe Jimmy Fallon really does want to follow Jay Leno’s tradition of full-political-spectrum comedy. Earlier this week, Fallon ripped Barack Obama for his victory lap on ObamaCare, and last night he invited Sarah Palin to join him in this four-minute mockfest of Obama’s foreign-policy acumen. Palin is a good sport here, joking about the unusual names of her children at one point, but the subtext throughout this is that Palin was smart enough to see through Vladimir Putin — and Obama wasn’t. LOS ANGELES – David Letterman, 66, rattled the entertainment industry on Thursday when it was revealed that after more than 32 years and almost 6,000 episodes in the late-night arena, he will retire in 2015 when his CBS contract expires. According to a source closely connected to the “Late Show” host, newly appointed “Tonight Show” host Jimmy Fallon – his direct competition – inadvertently gave Letterman the final nudge. “David is older now; he had heart surgery some time ago and sees both Jimmy Kimmel [of ABC’s “Jimmy Kimmel Live!”] as well as the more formidable Jimmy Fallon now gaining...

NBC’s The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon continues to handily dominate late-night in overall audience, weeks after he replaced Jay Leno as host, last week clocking 4.26 million viewers to Jimmy Kimmel Live‘s 2.83 million on ABC and David Letterman’s 2.78 million on CBS. In the demo, Fallon (1.32/6) beat Kimmel and Dave combined (0.76/3 and 0.55/2, respectively). Fallon hung on to 99% of his previous week’s demo and was up 81% compared to same week last year when Leno was hosting and was No. 1 and doing just fine in the ratings. The Obamas have had few more obsequious media allies than NBC's Jimmy Fallon. Now that he's taking over the hallowed ground of "The Tonight Show," Fallon's proven ability to spread his reach into viral videos on YouTube promises to become even more politically potent. Fallon's Obama-friendly sketches and interviews have become immediate "news" grist for the Comcast corps at NBC and MSNBC. The same sensation happens when Fallon is ripping into a Republican. Just as NBC and MSNBC were tearing Gov. Chris Christie apart over "Bridgegate," Fallon joined this political crusade by bringing on liberal rock star Bruce Springsteen for...

What’s changed in 22 years? Jay Leno took a look back at the years since he first took over hosting duties at the Tonight Show in 1992, and offered a few quips about the differences. Weiner jokes are still just as funny, only now they’re about Anthony Weiner, who Leno skewers almost immediately. Jay Leno, who leaves "The Tonight Show" on Feb 6 after a 22-year run (retire is not the right word in his case), is one such person. The report, prepared for a tax reform commission appointed by Gov. Andrew Cuomo, suggests the program should be scaled back. There is a reason I haven’t stepped foot into a movie theater in years… I can’t stand Hollywood. It’s lack of creativity, it’s drug addicts, it’s moral depravity (and I’m no saint) also, it’s grand-standing preaching actors, it’s cults, it’s creepy apartments for child actors that serve the young residents drugs and alcohol. Then there’s the not-so secret, secret about how most young men obtain their movie roles. Somebody clue in “Ricky Hollywood,” considering the path he’s chosen… The whole place makes me rather nauseous. It’s a shining example of how we have fallen as a culture.

Sarah Palin's secret "laugh track" machine at Jay Leno show: makes Adam Lambert fans like her, too!(An "after action" report from FReepers who were actually in the studio audience.) In perhaps the worst possible development for the radical left since the discovery of Karl Rove's now infamous "Weather Machine," Governor Palin's recently exposed top secret "laugh track" machine appears to also have even more dastardly powers than were originally feared. In addition to altering the space-time continuum, and reprogramming the master computers at NBC – to cause laughter during Sarah's monologue to appear where none had been before, and send...

The left has become so absurd in their fear of Sarah Palin that they are now spreading rumors that NBC provided Palin with a laugh track when she did a monologue on the Tonight Show this week. How desperate and ridiculous are the left's latest attacks. So lame that even NBC is defending Palin. Yes, NBC!

Sarah Palin and Simon Cowell are among the first guests who have agreed to appear on The Tonight Show when Jay Leno returns on March 1. His first night back isn’t particularly star-powered: He’ll have Jamie Foxx and Olympic Gold medal skier Lindsey Vonn on the couch, with a musical performance by Brad Paisley. But on Tuesday, Leno is sure to get the eyeballs with an appearance from Palin, who will be joined by Olympic Gold medal snowboarder Shaun White. On March 3, the cast of MTV’s Jersey Shore will help with Leno’s Jaywalk All-Stars segment while Chelsea Handler and...

Well the NBC late night drama saga has ended, for now at least. Conan O’Brien had his last Tonight Show last night. If you missed Conan’s last show and final monologue, never fear I have Conan O’Brien’s final monologue video below. After weeks of will he stay will he go, Conan has said goodbye to The Tonight Show and lets just say he did not disappoint in his final show, especially when it came to his final Tonight Show monologue. From his jokes about really having to go, to having Tilda Swinton play him in an HBO movie, Conan kept...

Conan O'Brien staffers are furious that they're losing their "Tonight Show" jobs while O'Brien walks away from the fiasco with $30 million, sources tell Page Six. About 200 of O'Brien's production team, who last year uprooted from New York to Los Angeles for his show, are fuming that they've been overlooked as Conan negotiates his way out of NBC. "The production team feels betrayed," one source said. "They don't understand why Conan couldn't have just agreed to move the show to 12:05 a.m. and see how things turn out, which would have allowed them all to keep their jobs. But...

I Just Received this Press Release from Conan O'Brien's "People" People of Earth: In the last few days, I've been getting a lot of sympathy calls, and I want to start by making it clear that no one should waste a second feeling sorry for me. For 17 years, I've been getting paid to do what I love most and, in a world with real problems, I've been absurdly lucky. That said, I've been suddenly put in a very public predicament and my bosses are demanding an immediate decision.

It seemed like a good idea to hire Conan O'Brien to host "The Tonight Show" as Jay Leno's replacement. But O'Brien's huge ratings didn't follow him to his new home, and now, PopEater is reporting that NBC executives are already having conversations about replacing him.
