State Rep. Jim McReynolds has sent a letter to the Texas Department of Transportation saying he thinks TxDOT should drop the idea of tying the Trans-Texas Corridor in with plans for routing Interstate 69 through East Texas. McReynolds says tremendous negative outcry from his constituents and other East Texas residents has made it clear to him no one wants infrastructure that massive and disruptive to the quality of life to be built, taking big swaths out of the Pineywoods countryside. "Within the past several weeks, I have personally attended every TxDOT hearing held in my district regarding this proposed corridor,"...

WASHINGTON - A federal judge on Wednesday ruled that the Interior Department has "unreasonably delayed" its accounting for billions of dollars owed to Indian landholders. The federal agency "has not, and cannot, remedy the breach" of its responsibilities to account for the Indian money, U.S. District Judge James Robertson said in a 165-page decision in a long-running federal lawsuit alleging mismanagement of Indian trust funds. "Indeed, it is now clear that completion of the required accounting is an impossible task" for the department, Robertson said, adding that he would schedule a hearing next month to discuss ways to solve the...

Lee Britt settled into a restaurant table here on a recent Saturday night, looking up to see a barrel-chested, bald man approaching. "Ed Norris!" he said, standing up to extend his hand. "I enjoy your show." "Keep listening," said the city's former police commissioner and ex-state police superintendent, flashing a smile and continuing into the Owl Bar, a century-old haunt in central Baltimore. Britt, 29, a third-year law student and aspiring prosecutor, turned to his tablemates and reviewed pieces of the Norris story. It's a compelling one: Crime-busting police chief rolls in from New York City in 2000. . ....
  • What you would like to see in new Social Security Bill.

I think its time to think out side the box. Most of the old ways we did social security will no longer work. We need to make it for the people by the people. We need a page so anyone can post no more than three things at a time they would like to be put into a new (Social Security Bill). Here are three I would like to see. 1- Any person may deposit at any time any amount (minimum $25.00) into any account, must give name, social security number, date of birth, of person. Any deposit is to...

New York, NJ/Ct Freepers: At the protest today, many of the pinko punk red diaper trust fund babies were holding signs promoting an antiwar rally in NYC next Saturday, the 22nd. They're coming your way and you should uphold the grand tradition of FR by meeting them with everything we've got. They're talking about civil disobedience, blocking traffic and the like. (Direct them to the UN Building!) This is all the more reason why they MUST be countered. I look forward to a good, large, patriotic crowd in NY next week.
