  • Problem solved, TV Land: Here’s your new, politically correct Dukes of Hazzard

Sensitive. The amazing thing about this is that it was made six years ago - when it was funny enough to imagine liberals trying to PC up the Dukes but still not to the point where you could actually imagine a major cable network pulling it because it isn’t. Hats off to Jeff Foxworthy and Larry the Cable Guy for actually having the prescience to see this coming: Trying to remember: Was the gay rainbow flag sufficiently recognized back in 2009 for that to be the likely meaning of the rainbow atop the General Lee? Or is it just combined...
  • Vanity: TV Land Getting SLAMMED on Facebook for Pulling Dukes

TV Land is getting SLAMMED for pulling the Dukes! It is amazing to see good people mobilize and give TV Land the criticism deserves. They will lose money over this.. and it's well deserved. When you go against your customers, like Mcdonalds did, prepare to lose millions and millions of dollars. Couldn't have happened to a more deserving network.

The Confederate battle flag has been a hot topic in the news over the last few weeks. Some government organizations have taken the flag down, and Walmart made the landmark decision to remove all Confederate battle flag items from stores. However, one side effect of removing the flag from culture has led to the removal of popular Dukes of Hazzard products from stores. Now, TV Land even says it will no longer air any episodes of the classic series.

A week after Warner Bros. announced it would halt the production of all merchandise featuring the Confederate flag on General Lee, the iconic car from The Dukes of Hazzard, the show has inexplicably disappeared from TV Land’s lineup. WB announced the move as major retailers Walmart, Amazon, eBay, and Sears all introduced bans on the sale of Confederate flag merchandise in the wake of Dylann Roof’s Charleston, SC shooting rampage at a black church. “Warner Bros. Consumer Products has one licensee producing die-cast replicas and vehicle model kits featuring the General Lee with the confederate flag on its roof —...

The latest victim of the growing controversy over the Confederate flag is the 1980s TV series “The Dukes of Hazzard.” A TV Land spokesperson confirmed Tuesday that the network has pulled reruns of the series from its schedule, which had been airing twice a day.

NBC has scrapped a Bill Cosby comedy that was under development and TV Land will stop airing reruns of “The Cosby Show,” moves that came a day after another woman came forward claiming that the once-beloved comic had sexually assaulted her. NBC spokeswoman Rebecca Marks said Wednesday the Cosby sitcom “is no longer under development.” A TV Land representative said the reruns will stop airing immediately for an indefinite time. “The Cosby Show” also was to have been part of a Thanksgiving sitcom marathon. The NBC sitcom and “Cosby Show” reruns joined a Netflix Cosby standup comedy special, which was...

It doesn’t take much sleuthing on TV Land’s Facebook page to discover some of the channel’s viewers are downright peeved. Their demands? More classic programming and fewer new shows. “Bring back the classics! Archie Bunker rules!” declares one viewer. “With all these comments, can’t you guys take the hint! You need to revamp the channel,” censures another. One says: “I’d rather watch the Cavs’ losing streak than Hot in Cleveland.” TV Land’s first original scripted sitcom, Hot in Cleveland (which has just been renewed for a third season), nabbed SAG recognition in January with a nomination for the cast and...

Cable network, TV LAND, has committed to hosting a movie night. After 11 years on the air the inclusion of movies is an attempt to save the channel from failure. On April 29th 1996 a new cable channel aired named TV LAND. TV Land, owned by MTV Networks, is programmed with re-run shows mainly from the 50's, 60's, 70's and a few from the 80's. Such shows consist of classics like: I Love Lucy, Gunsmoke, The Andy Griffith Show, Green Acres, The Aadams Family, Knight Rider, and many more. Skinny, hatchet-faced, bespectacled American character actor, ubiquitous in literally hundreds of films. Hey, TV Land - a message from the ladies: Kiss my grits! ‘‘The 100 Greatest TV Quotes and Catchphrases” (starting Monday at 10 p.m.) features a mere four offerings from women. A few TV experts are now saying ‘‘Never mind” to the sexist tally. ‘‘It’s crazy that there are so few women represented,” said Terry Lawler, executive director of New York Women in Film & Television. ‘‘It’s a glaring omission, and you have to wonder how many women were part of the choosing. You also have to wonder why there wasn’t any effort to ask, ‘Are we representing the full...

In 2005, after seeing the effects of Hurricane Katrina, Mr. T announced he would never wear his chains again, saying they were "an insult to God", and donated clothing and money to Katrina victims. A reality television show for TV Land, I Pity the Fool is scheduled to premiere October 11, 2006. The announced six-episode series finds him assisting those in need. As of 2006, Mr. T lives in Sherman Oaks, Los Angeles, California. He is a born-again Christian....

If Dr. Phil can dispense advice, why not Mr. T? The TV Land network announced Tuesday that it will start "I Pity the Fool," a series where "The A-Team" star travels across the country dispensing inspiration and advice. "The `t' stands for talking," he said in an interview with The Associated Press. "I'm going to talk it up. It's what I've been doing all my life." The series starts in October. He'll offer help to people struggling with personal or professional problems. "My show ain't no `Dr. Phil,' with people sitting around crying," he said. "You're a fool _ that's...

Looks like the TV Land Awards Show is trying to gain some 'legitimacy' by treading into territory the Academy Awards skirted around - bashing Bush. The MC (never heard of him) opens the show with a quip about W's lousy jet pilot skills. Now I understand that TV Land covers dated shows, but that's no excuse for dated jokes. Then we get a long monologue from the Smothers Brothers, with the punchline being the tried and tired poke at W's and his so-called lies about Iraq. Ground breaking stuff. I now understand why shows about a talking horse, a Martian...
