Dallas Republicans enthusiastically greeted Sarah Palin on Friday, fresh off her debate with Joe Biden. "It is good to be visiting here in Alaska's little sister state Texas," the Republican vice presidential candidate told more than 1,000 people at a fundraiser at the Fairmont hotel. She spoke for about 20 minutes, discussing energy, government reform and the tough sledding for the McCain campaign, which trails Barack Obama in most polls, in the final few weeks before Election Day. “It’s not just in Washington, D.C., it’s across the country, the hunger for reform,” Ms. Palin said.
DOWNTOWN DALLAS -- Republican vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin is making a stop in Dallas, just a day after her closely-watched debate with Democratic rival Joe Biden. Dozens of supporters and protesters gathered near the Fairmont chanting and carrying signs.
Barr Files Suit To Remove Obama And McCain From Texas Ballot

Libertarian presidential nominee Bob Barr’s campaign filed suit Tuesday seeking to remove Republican John McCain and Democrat Barack Obama from the ballot in Texas, alleging that the two major candidates missed the deadline for officially filing to be on the ballot. The lawsuit by the former Republican congressman from Georgia claims that neither McCain nor Obama met the requirement of Texas law that all candidates provide “written certification” of their nomination “before 5 p.m. on the 70th day before election day” because neither had been formally nominated by their respective parties in time. That would have been Aug. 25. Obama...

GOP VEEP CHOICE: RECONSIDERING KAY

The selection of Joe Biden as Barack Obama’s running mate changes the whole dynamic of the Veep choice now facing John McCain. Sure, Biden brings credibility and experience and reassuring familiarity to the Democratic ticket, but he hardly adds sizzle or novelty. The Democrats feel that they’ve got enough pizzaz with their standard bearer, so it doesn’t hurt that they take a Vice Presidential contender with all the excitement of boiled Brussels sprouts. I hope that this choice now gives John McCain reason to reconsider the safe, reassuring possibilities of Mitt Romney or Tim Pawlenty—apparently, the two leading contenders for...

Tom Abrahams has a great post up over at his blog at TheVote.abc13.com. He’s found some interesting tidbits in the campaign finance data pertaining to Texas, as well as noting that John McCain has only about one-third of the cash on hand that Barack Obama has.Regarding Houston, he found this: The 770– zip codes in Houston are the most generous in the state for both candidates. McCain has pulled in $1,650,521 million. Obama’s received a little more than $2 million. What’s even more amazing about those numbers is that the 770 zip codes have given more to all presidential candidates ($9,315,056)...
