  • “Star Wars” Burn Out? “Last Jedi” Thursday Night Box Office Falls Short... by $12 Million

Last night, “The Last Jedi” scored $45 million in preview shows around the US. That’s the second highest Thursday preview opening ever, behind “The Force Awakens,” so that’s good news. But the WTH news is that “The Force Awakens” did $57 million on its Thursday previews two years ago. In between there was “Rogue One” with a $29 million preview Thursday last year. So what the heck? Is there “Star Wars” burn out with movies three years in a row? Could be.

A fussy, effete lttle man, whose own character is well expressed by that of the protagonist in Don Giovanni, going through life transfixed with his own navel (but that's too high). In violin concerto no. 5 in A major, he's using the noble instrument of Stradivarius, Guarneri and Amati as his own pudenda, a prolonged act of cultural onanism. His failure even to attempt to approach God in emulation of the Blessed angels, shows how granting the boon of total, infused knowledge is casting pearls before swine to a corrupt little human. He lived as if his genius had been...

The disclosure that Jamie Gorelick, a member of the September 11 commission, was personally responsible for instituting a key obstacle to cooperation between law enforcement and intelligence operations before the terrorist attacks raises disturbing questions about the integrity of the commission itself. Ms. Gorelick should not be cross-examining witnesses; instead, she should be required to testify about her own behavior under oath. Specifically, commission members need to ask her about a 1995 directive she wrote that made it more difficult for the FBI to locate two of the September 11 hijackers who had already entered the country by the summer...

Huma Abedin's hanging out with the president -- not the one she was hoping to be with, but a day at Disneyland with Tony Goldwyn from "Scandal" is a damn good plan B. Hillary Clinton's right-hand woman hit Disney with the TV prez, her son and one of his daughters. Tony got closer to Huma and HRC during the campaign. He spoke at the DNC, and Hill and Huma visited the set of "Scandal" ... so yeah, he's a big supporter. Can't imagine what they talked about all day. Your candidate just lost the election! What are you gonna do?...

OK sorry Jim about the single whining waste of space. Really I am. I don't usually post stuff like this. But I just am in the mood to rant after I clicked onto the Los Angeles Times website from the Drudgereport, based on a link there, and was clobbered with more nonsense than I believed possible.
  • Madonna Gets Naked, Joins Katy Perry in Supporting Hillary Clinton

Madonna has gotten naked more than a few times in her career. But this time she's doing it for a cause. On Wednesday morning (Sept. 28), the singer posted some politically motivated nudes on her Facebook page telling fans, "Living for Hillary. Yes I vote for intelligence. I vote for equal rights for women and all minorities."

Whether her mother ever becomes president, it’s fair to say that Chelsea Clinton’s exposure to politics is still in its infancy. The mainstream infotainment media is making sure of that. Vanity Fair blew it out for Chelsea Clinton for its September issue, profiling the former first daughter in a lengthy fluff piece that invites readers to think of America’s political class as a monarchical, hereditary dynasty. Chelsea is now 35 — yes, old enough to run for president — and the VF piece didn’t mince words in thrusting her into a political position: Gone is the Chelsea who tried to...

Police collar birthday girl, 47, promenading in her birthday suit JANUARY 15--A naked woman wearing a pair of angel wings was arrested early yesterday after police spotted her walking on an Arkansas street. Christine Lawrence, 47, was busted for indecent exposure after a pair of Mountain Home Police Department officers responded to a 3:20 AM call about “a female walking down the middle of the road with nothing on besides angel wings,” according to a police report. When one patrolman sought to speak with Lawrence, she fled into her nearby Circle Drive residence. As Lawrence was subsequently being arrested, she...

LONDON -- St. Patrick, patron saint of Ireland, may well have been a tax collector for the Romans who fled to Ireland where he could have traded slaves to pay his way, according to new research by a University of Cambridge academic published on Saturday. The generally accepted account of the saint's life, albeit based on scant evidence, says Patrick was abducted from western Britain as a teenager and forced into slavery in Ireland for six years during which time he developed a strong Christian faith. Afterwards, the account continues, he escaped his captors and went back to Britain before...

LINCOLN, Neb. – An American Indian tribe sued some of the world's largest beer makers Thursday, claiming they knowingly contributed to devastating alcohol-related problems on South Dakota's Pine Ridge Indian Reservation. The Oglala Sioux Tribe of South Dakota said it is demanding $500 million in damages for the cost of health care, social services and child rehabilitation caused by chronic alcoholism on the reservation, which encompasses some of the nation's most impoverished counties. The lawsuit filed in U.S. District Court of Nebraska also targets four beer stores in Whiteclay, a Nebraska town near the reservation's border that, despite having only...

A CAMPAIGN treasurer for Democratic lawmakers in California -- including Sen. Dianne Feinstein and Rep. Loretta Sanchez -- was arrested by the FBI on suspicion of mail fraud, The Orange County Register reported. US Attorney's Office spokesman Thom Mrozek said Kinde Durkee, of Durkee and Associates, was arrested by the FBI on a criminal complaint filed by the US Attorney's Office in Sacramento. KTLA-TV reported that the arrest took place in the Los Angeles suburb of Burbank, where Durkee's office are located. State Rep. Peggy Lehner, R-Kettering, on Monday won the recommendation of a seven-member Republican screening committee to fill the state Senate seat being vacated by Jon Husted. The recommendation will be presented to the full Republican caucus on Wednesday, said Senate President-elect Tom Niehaus, R-New Richmond. Lehner was recommended over state Rep. Seth Morgan, R-Huber Heights, and three other applicants for the 6th District seat. “We would expect the caucus to support the recommendation,” said Niehaus. Husted was elected secretary of state Nov. 2 and will take that office in January. The official Senate vote on his replacement will come...

Michael R. Taylor's appointment by the Obama administration to the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) on July 7th sparked immediate debate and even outrage among many food and agriculture researchers, NGOs and activists. The Vice President for Public Policy at Monsanto Corp. from 1998 until 2001, Taylor exemplifies the revolving door between the food industry and the government agencies that regulate it. He is reviled for shaping and implementing the government's favorable agricultural biotechnology policies during the Clinton administration.

As President Barack Obama‘s approval ratings continue to stagnate, Democrats’ grasp on the White House in 2012 continues to loosen. Though a lot can happen between now and then, some Democrats have already jumped ship from the HMS Obama, and are instead seeking political refuge with a familiar player in Democratic politics, Hillary Clinton. The first televised ad for a Clinton-for-President recruitment campaign has officially hit the airwaves, courtesy William DeJean, a Chicago dentist who tells CNN he thinks the former senator and acting Secretary of State is the “most qualified” Democrat to run in 2012. “I’m a dentist and...
