Florida authorities have forbidden a church in Gainesville to burn the Quran on the anniversary of the September 11 terrorist attacks. If the church burns the Qur'ans it would suffer a financial penalty. This is due to the municipal law in Gainesville, which prohibits the burning of books in public. However, the church has announced that it plans to burn the books on September 11 in any case.

Caltrans apologized Tuesday for covering a mural of an American flag on Interstate 680 last week, a move that triggered howls of indignation and inspired two men to repaint it, and the agency said it will meet with the original artists to create another mural. The boys came to Live Oak High School on the Mexican holiday, wearing t-shirts, shorts and shoes emblazoned with American flags. Here is a brief video report about a Virginia World War II Congressional Medal of Honor winner who is fighting to keep the right to raise the American Flag on his flagpole every day. Ninety year-old Van Barfoot has been told by his homeowner's association the flagpole has to go. He intends to keep putting up his flag no matter what. The McCain Campaign recycled the flags thrown into trash bins at Invesco Field at Mile High Stadium in Denver last week after the invocation of the Obamessiah. It seems that the disciples of the Obama had no use for the flags after Obama’s performance last week. So they promptly heaved them in waste receptacles. Some were thrown to the ground.
