• With Virginia Becoming A Liberal Hellhole, A Familiar Anti-Gun Face Says

For Republicans in Virginia, it’s time to face facts. We’re slowly becoming Maryland. Yes, we may have a Republican state legislature, but majorities in both houses hang by a thread. The Northern Virginia suburbs, where I live, are chock full of insufferable liberals who drive the direction of the whole state. The days of this state going to the GOP are over. The Obamaites infested the Old Dominion and never left. The next gubernatorial election is not until 2021, but we already have one anti-gun voice that says he’s in: state Attorney General Mark Herring.

  • Why Donald Trump chose Corey Stewart to chair his Virginia campaign

Donald Trump and Corey A. Stewart had never met before the front-runner for the 2016 GOP presidential nomination held a rally in Manassas early this month. But people who know the longtime chairman of the Prince William Board of County Supervisors say it makes perfect sense that Trump tapped him this week to chair his Virginia campaign. Like Trump, Stewart is a blunt and outspoken Republican advocate of cracking down on illegal immigration. A local law he championed that allows county police to check the immigration status of anyone they arrest made him a pariah to liberal Democrats and advocacy...

ERICA YOON | The Roanoke Times Delegates cheer candidate Ed Gillespie during his introduction at the state Republican convention Saturday in Roanoke. Less than 90 minutes after voting began at the convention, Gillespie’s nearest rival, Shak Hill, conceded the nomination to Gillespie. The low attendance — 4,200 delegates had registered but about 2,700 came to Roanoke — may have expedited the balloting. Ed Gillespie, a fixture in national Republican politics, easily won his party’s nomination Saturday to take on Sen. Mark Warner, D-Va., setting up a marquee fight with control of the Senate at stake. At 2:50 p.m., less than...

House Majority Leader Eric Cantor pleaded for Republican unity here Saturday as he prodded his party to offer more solutions that make voters feel like they have their backs on “kitchen table” issues. The congressman, who represents a district around Richmond, told about 500 party activists during a lunch at The Homestead resort that the GOP does not need to compromise its core principles. “If we want to win, we must begin to offer solutions to the problems that people face every day,” he said. “We have not done this recently and it has allowed the Democrats to take power,...

Some 25 years ago I changed my life. A visit inside a church opened my eyes to the destructive life I was living, financed by welfare checks generously provided by American taxpayers. I got off welfare, went to work, got politically active and became a Republican. I didn’t become a Republican because of what the party looked like. I became a Republican because of what the party stood for. Individual freedom, traditional values, with a view that government’s role is to protect our freedom at home and abroad. For the next 25 years I had to suffer indignities from liberals...

Any conservative, who thinks E.W. Jackson winning Virginia's 2013 Republican Lieutenant Governor nomination is a good thing, needs to have his or her head examined. A former marine, lawyer and minister, Jackson has made incendiary remarks in the past about gays, blacks and Democrats and yet refuses to retract anything he has said. This “firebrand” won’t help the Republican ticket of Virginia Attorney General Ken Cuccinelli for Governor and Mark Obenshain for Attorney General in a state that has become more purple than red and in which the race for governor remains rancorous and tight. Jackson referred to gays and...

The outspoken conservative Republican has won the state GOP nomination also accuses Democrats of ‘saturating the black community with ridiculous lies.’ E. W. Jackson delivers his acceptance speech for the Republican nomination for Lt. Gov. at the Virginia Republican convention in Richmond, Va., Saturday, May 18. He calls the Democratic party “anti-God.” The conservative Republican candidate for lieutenant governor in Virginia once compared Planned Parenthood to the Ku Klux Klan and has made several other inflammatory statements that are likely to play into the state’s competitive race for governor. The Republican speaker of the Virginia House has ruled against a GOP-backed redistricting plan that was muscled through a divided Virginia Senate while a veteran black Democratic lawmaker was attending President Barack Obama’s inauguration. … The move set off a firestorm among Senate Democrats, who’d threatened to deny the Senate’s 20 Republicans the necessary 21st vote to advance key initiatives. …

E.W. Jackson 'declaring war' on Obama, Kaine for 'ignoring Constitution' For months, former Sen. George Allen has been the prohibitive favorite to win the Republican nomination in his quest to win back the U.S. Senate seat he lost to Jim Webb six years ago. There have been no new public polls showing a major shift in the race but GOP hopeful E.W. Jackson says voters in the commonwealth can expect a shocking result next Tuesday. Jackson says internal polling gives him confidence that he will not only challenge Allen but score the biggest upset to date in the 2012 cycle....

March 6 VA Republican Presidential Primary, your 4 voting options On March 6th, the Republican Party of Virginia will be holding its Presidential Primary at your local polling precincts. A federal appeals court in Virginia today denied an emergency request by Republican presidential hopefuls Rick Perry and Newt Gingrich to be placed on the ballot for the Virginia primary. After failing to get the required 10,000 signatures necessary to be placed on the ballot, the two candidates argued that Virginia’s strict ballot law was unconstitutional. A three-judge panel of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit agreed with a lower court and ruled today that the candidates had waited too long to file their suit. The court ruled unanimously that Perry and the other candidates “had every...
