In a recent case in North Carolina, a sweet faced and intellectually accomplished nun came to a Catholic high school to address the students about human sexuality. We don’t have the text of sister’s talk, but from the outrage expressed she not only criticized homosexual actions, but was down on divorce and sexual sin. The mother of one student reported her son’s comments, “We had the worst assembly today, we tried to leave but were made to sit down. There are students in this school who are openly gay and some who are not out yet. Obviously, they felt bullied.”...

There’s nothing the left loves more than a victim. Our entire victim-culture can be summed up into one Oprah Winfrey Show, complete with boxes of Kleenex and clichéd advice about “moving forward” and “finding one’s inner beauty.” Admittedly, it’s tempting to get sucked in. Who doesn’t feel the heart strings tighten when a true story of hardship is presented, complete with video clips of beach walking and wailing orchestral instruments? But “victims” have become entertainment that equal big ratings and instant stardom. As such, one must always be on the lookout for the big hoax.

Her memoir is full of vindictiveness and score-settling. Maybe in their business lives, conservatives are the stern, unforgiving masters of capitalist lore. But when it comes to politics, oh, do they love a whiner! It is her mastery of the lament that explained former Republican vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin’s appeal last year, and now her knack for self-pity is on full display in her book, “Going Rogue.” This is the memoir as prolonged, keening wail, larded with petty vindictiveness. With an impressive attention to detail, Ms. Palin settles every score, answers every criticism; locates a scapegoat for every foul-up,...

WATERVILLE, Maine -- Police said a white man's verbal assaults on a black man last month amounted to a hate crime. According to police, Ralph Taylor pointed to his "white power" tattoo while taunting the black man on Oct. 20 and 21. The tattoo featured dual lightning bolts, a symbol associated with Adolf Hitler's SS corps.

Waterbury (WTNH) _ A noose hanging as a Halloween display is sending a frightening message to members of the community. "Recently there has been a lot of hype around it so you can imagine how it could make anyone feel, African-American in particular," said the president of the Greater Waterbury NAACP, Jimmie Griffin. Griffin received numerous phone calls about the hanging man so he drove to Homestead Avenue to check it out for himself and to ask the homeowner to take it down. "It brings back some bad memories about our history in this country," said Griffin. News Channel 8...

Where did people get the idea that Hillary Clinton is tough? Her debate meltdown last Tuesday made it a bit more obvious to some who hadn’t noticed it previously, but her lack of toughness has been on display throughout her time as a public figure. Sen. Clinton’s abysmal performance in last week’s debate was going to happen sooner or later. When you obfuscate on every issue, it’s only a matter of time before someone calls you on it. If this is too much for you, how can you handle being president?

Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton is looking for sympathy, support and political cover as her rivals show the temerity to run aggressively against the Democratic presidential front-runner. But don't feel sorry for her — Clinton is no stranger to "piling on." In fact, she's an expert at it. Ask anybody who stood on the marble floor of the state Capitol rotunda in 1990 and heard the click, clack, click of her low-heeled shoes approach the news conference of Tom McRae, a mild-mannered public servant who had the nerve to challenge then-Gov. Bill Clinton of Arkansas for re-election. "Tom!" the state's first...

The victim card, the female card, and the media bias card have all been played to cover HRC’s poor debate performance, the first two in the immediate aftermath of the debate. Ms. Clinton has touted her “35 years of experience” as a major qualification to be the Democrat nominee. Like other Democrat candidates, she has decried the “stunning record of secrecy” of the Bush administration; her campaign Web site vows to bring a “return to transparency” to government. But Clinton’s appointment calendar as First Lady, her notes at strategy meetings, what advice she gave her husband and his advisers, what...

There's an essential paradox about successful women in politics that we flat-footed men have never really grasped. To succeed in anything, but especially in the cold brutality of politics, you have to be hard as nails, ruthless, willing to win at all costs. Life and love have taught us that these are qualities we associate mostly with the selfish, hardened, ambitious male. But the few women who do possess these traits are unusually blessed. They are after all, still female, and as such have, or at least are deemed to have also those feminine qualities that speak to a different...

Here's a weird little organization for you to laugh at:International Coalition for British Reparations My only hope is that this is in some way a joke. Basically, they want Great Britain to pay the world for its imperialist history, to the tune of 31 Trillion Pounds. Oh, wait, that's not all. They're also blaming Britain for the Industrial Revolution (it was bad for the environment) and for inventing Machine guns.

...and a few decided to just leave them there. No matter what you have heard to the contrary, more than five years after 9/11, the Deutsche Bank building has not been fully searched. New York City's official spokespeople are playing word games and many in the media are their echo chambers. When the South Tower fell, massive amounts of debris fell on and into that building, leaving huge beams precariously hanging out over Cedar Street and a twenty floor gouge in the building's north face. When the first big crane approached nearby West and Liberty, the ground shook beneath it. They...

A teenager suing a former assistant baseball coach who was convicted of assaulting him will be allowed to seek punitive damages, a judge has ruled. Former Lakeland Babe Ruth Baseball League Assistant Coach Michael Pollari was convicted of a simple assault charge in municipal court in June 2001, one month after the boy said he was grabbed by his shirt and lifted off the ground. Kevin Babcock, who was 13 years old at the time, will be allowed to seek punitive damages against Pollari along with compensatory damages if and when the case goes to trial, Superior Court Judge W....

A Staten Island woman wants $10 million for being scalded by a cup of coffee. Sharon Shea said she suffered second- and third-degree burns to her legs when two steaming cups of joe tumbled out of the carrier tray as she and a friend drove away from the Dunkin' Donuts parking lot on Forest Avenue. Shea insists the coffee was too hot and the work- ers didn't fasten the lids tightly enough. "The [drive-thru] girl had positioned them where they were in the same line [on the tray], they weren't cattycorner," said Shea, 60. "Just as the car was about...
