A federal lawsuit accusing two state agencies of failing to provide adequate voter registration services for people who get food stamps, disability payments and Medicaid will be fought in court, the state's chief elections officer said Tuesday. The lawsuit alleges that agency offices that grant public assistance have failed to regularly ask clients if they want to register to vote and give them forms to register. Roughly 1.1 percent of voter registrations, about 6,000, were received from public assistance offices, in 2009-10, according to the lawsuit, a 10-year low. (Tom) Schedler,(Secretary of State ), said his office has asked the...

Former President Bill Clinton Wednesday compared GOP efforts to limit same-day voter registration and block some convicted felons from voting to Jim Crow laws and poll taxes. In a speech to liberal youth activists Wednesday, the former president called out proposals in battleground states like Florida and Ohio that could limit the voter rolls. “I can’t help thinking since we just celebrated the Fourth of July and we’re supposed to be a country dedicated to liberty that one of the most pervasive political movements going on outside Washington today is the disciplined, passionate, determined effort of Republican governors and legislators...

Student Protests in Tucson Arizona are only the beginning of a much larger scale of protests and direct actions in planning stages right now. As the Ethnic Studies controversy continues in TUSD, orchestrated by County Redistricting Commissioner and Student Equity Director Augustine Romero, and Director of Ethnic Studies Sean Arce, even more groups that met at the communist May Day rally at Tucson Greyhound park on May 1 of this year are planning large scale Social Justice protests. The groups present included Derechos Humanos, Humane Borders, Border Action Network, members of the Pima County Interfaith Council, The Brown Berets, MEChA...

WASHINGTON — In 2008, Barack Obama tapped into a record of nearly 15 million voters who cast ballots for the first time, a surge in registration that may be difficult to replicate next year. Recent voter registration data show that Democrats have lost ground in key states that Obama carried in 2008, an early warning siren for the president's re-election campaign. While Republican numbers have also dipped in some states, the drop in the Democrats' ranks highlights the importance of the Obama campaign's volunteer base and the challenge they could have of registering new voters. "When you look back at...

The defunct political advocacy group ACORN has pleaded guilty to one count of an election law violation in Las Vegas, Nevada. ACORN attorney Lisa Rasmussen told Fox News that a plea agreement was worked out with the state attorney general. The violation was for unlawfully providing compensation for registering voters based on the total number of people registered. Sentencing for the organization is set for Aug. 10, and the potential fine is a maximum of $5,000. ACORN itself was named as a criminal defendant in the case for allegedly running an illegal voter registration scheme called "21," or "Blackjack," which...

As Pajamas Media has been reporting since July, Eric Holder’s Justice Department is only interested in enforcing some parts of Motor Voter, but not the parts that require states to remove dead and felon voters from the rolls. Deputy Assistant Attorney General Julie Fernandes told the voting section she is only interested in enforcing the welfare agency voter registration provisions. As a result of her dereliction of her duties, thousands of illegal aliens may have participated in the 2010 elections in New Mexico and Colorado. I reported on an undercover sting operation in Louisiana targeting welfare agency registration. Now...

The Civil Rights Division at the Department of Justice has shown its hand to Congress. It wants more money and federal employees in the Voting Section. What is the new litigation priority? Dead people on the voter rolls? Minority vote dilution? Helping Spanish speaking voters? Nope. As reported last week in the Washington Examiner, those issues are genuinely "closed for business" at the Holder DOJ. Instead, the DOJ has told Congress in this document that they want more money and staff, get this, to ensure that welfare and other public assistance agencies are registering as many voters as possible. Section 7 of the Motor Voter law...

Now IS the time for state legislators to fix fraud-ridden voter registration laws. This is one of many crucial steps needed to eliminate voter fraud and to counter George Soros' SoS Sec/State agenda. Rick Santorum had a bit late on his Friday show. The Iowa elections official that was interviewed is pushing for provisional status for all same day registrees. This vanity thread is an attempt to put this on the radar with state houses now in Republican control.

As has been mentioned, the DNC has created a script and posted it online for their supporters to call 2008 voters and poll them and suggest voting Democrat in 2010. Personal names, phone numbers, and city/state data is also provided. You don't have to register for their site to get access to the call list! Here's how to access it: 1) Go to https://call.barackobama.com/campaigns/CO141 2) Up in the right hand top corner there is a link that says "location" Click it and enter your zip code. 3) The voters brought up are probably NOT in your district, but should be...

Chuck Goudie recently reported that voter registration is way up in the Republican dominated suburban Chicago and collar county areas this year while voters in the city itself has fallen slightly over last year's registration numbers. The uptick in the suburbs seems to show that enthusiasm for Republican voters is much higher than that of city Democrats. There has been a spike in suburban and collar county registrations and while city registration is 60,000 down from 2008, statewide registration is up from levels of four years ago... The Obama administration is considering it. The idea is to have the U.S. Citizen and Immigration Services (USCIS) just start handing out green cards to illegals. USCIS, a part of the Obama administration, outlines the ideas in a draft memo that includes the possibility of issuing green cards to tens of thousands who entered the country illegally. "In the absence of Comprehensive Immigration Reform, CIS can extend benefits and/or protections to many individuals and groups by issuing new guidance and regulations," the memo advises.

New Mexico has settled a lawsuit filed by advocacy groups last year over compliance with a law that lets people register to vote at various state agencies, including the Motor Vehicle Division when they get a driver's license. The settlement will result in tens of thousands of people in the state being offered a chance to register to vote. ..."The voter registration application needs to be a simultaneous part of every application for a driver's license ..." said Nicole Kovite, who heads the public agency voter registration project for Washington, D.C.-based Project Vote.

It would be funny were it not so pathetic. No, I take that back. It is hilarious, knee-slapping, laugh-out-loud funny, and I have been laughing about it since I found out about it. Fellow examiner, Jim Kouri, (Law Enforcement Examiner) alerted me to the fact that Media Matters, the leftwing, Soros-funded, media lapdog, er watchdog, had taken me and others to task over reportage on universal voter registration. The issue was John Fund's naming of Congressman Barney Frank (D-MA) as pushing universal voter registration legislation along with point man, Senator Chuck Schumer (D-NY). Fund said this in a recorded panel...

Rep. Barney Frank (D-Mass.) says conservatives are fabricating stories about his intention to implement "universal voter registration."The Massachusetts Democrat is pushing back against rumors that he will introduce legislation requiring anyone whose name appears in a government databases--including felons and illegal aliens--to register to vote.Frank's office cited a speech by the Wall Street Journal's John Fund as the origin of the rumor. The rumor has since been repeated by conservative radio hosts and blogs. Here's an excerpt from Fund's speech: "In January, Chuck Schumer and Barney Frank will propose universal voter registration. What is universal voter registration? It means...

Democrats have a political death wish. At least that's how it looks. There's no other explanation for their feverish push to take over the health care system when a huge majority of Americans are opposed to the plan. But facing an angry public, Democrats are scheming to find ways to manipulate the electoral process so they can cling to power even when voters want to kick the bums out. Sen. Charles E. Schumer, New York Democrat, and Rep. Barney Frank, Massachusetts Democrat, have plans to ram through legislation that will produce universal voter registration. No matter what they claim, the...

Sen. Charles E. Schumer, New York Democrat, and Rep. Barney Frank, Massachusetts Democrat, have plans to ram through legislation that will produce universal voter registration. No matter what they claim, the rule changes will make it possible for illegal aliens to register to vote and for others to register multiple times. The proposal is to register everyone on every welfare list, everyone getting unemployment insurance, everyone with a driver's license, everyone who has had run-ins with the legal system, everyone owning any property - basically everyone on every list the government keeps. People will be registered to vote whether or...

There is no doubt the Democrats should be fearful of losing seats in Congress in the midterm elections; however, their blasé attitude about the Great Tsunami of November 2, 2010 suggests they have a plan. There are an estimated 15 to 20 million illegal aliens living in the U.S. On December 15, 2009, Rep. Luis V. Gutierrez (D-IL) introduced the Comprehensive Immigration Reform for America's Security and Prosperity Act of 2009, to the U.S. House of Representatives. A brief summary of the bill From the Miami Herald: Applicants would pay a $500 fine -- lower than the thousands of dollars...

Many are puzzled that Democrats persist in ramming unpopular and destructive legislation down our collective throats with no apparent concern for their plummeting poll numbers. A widespread belief is that the Democrats are committing political suicide and will be swept from one or both houses of Congress with unprecedented electoral losses next November. But since Democrat politicians rarely do things that will not ultimately benefit themselves, this column asked two weeks ago, "What do they know that we don't?" We may have found out. It's called universal voter registration. The Wall Street Journal's John Fund described the Democrat plan recently...
