FReeper Poll... Who Do You Support for VP, and How Strongly?

I would appreciate fellow FReepers making your views known... I've asked the Mods to run a poll repeatedly and haven't heard anything back... Please tell us whom you support and your level of intenstity... I'll tally up the results afterward... On intensity... 1= solid support... 2= tepod/lukewarm... 3=hold your nose but still support - Palin - Jindal - Romney - Sanford - Pawlenty - someone else (write-in). Thanks

Victor Davis Hanson: Summer Madness [VP, oil, hypocrisy, Hillary, Jackson, Obama, Scheuer]

“This is our ethanol”So an exasperated Sen. Barbara Boxer screams that the farm-belt senators better support her regional selfishness in opposing California off-shore drilling against the national interest, in the same manner she went along with the ethanol boondoggle. Odd that she was so brazen in her confessional.Jackson’s N-wordI give some credit to Barack Obama. His ‘hope and change’ mantra drives some to near madness and has proved a wrecking ball of liberal careers. First, in 90 days he destroyed the Clinton political machine, leaving Bill’s past 7-year effort at PC rehabilitation, after Monica and the pardons, in shambles. Now...

Staubach for VP?

I was reading an article yeaterday of how Roger Staubach was selling his real estate company for around 600 million. He was pocketing around 87 million of that. It got me thinking if he could be on McCain's list for VP. I think it would be a great pick and throw everyone for a loop. He is an ex Navy officer, Superbowl Champion, very successful business man and according to every account of him he's smart but also savy. I originally was wondering if he might be thinking about the Governors mansion but the VP slot would be pretty great...

Edwards would 'seriously consider' VP offer

John Edwards said Tuesday that if he were asked to accept the vice presidential slot or a cabinet position in a potential Barack Obama administration, he would “seriously consider” whatever the Illinois senator asked him to do. It has been widely reported that the former North Carolina senator is on Obama’s vice presidential shortlist. On Tuesday, NPR interviewer Guy Raz called the former Democratic presidential candidate’s presence on the list an “open secret,” and asked Edwards whether he’d weigh accepting a vice presidential offer, or might take himself out of consideration as Virginia Senator Jim Webb had done Monday. “I’m...

McCain’s Veepstakes: The Top 15 Contenders

John McCain has several objectives when it comes to his vice presidential choice. He must address the age issue, most likely choosing someone younger than himself, while also giving baby boomers and even younger voters a contemporary on the ticket. He must choose someone who garners the support of the conservative movement, which McCain himself has long had trouble doing. Secondary considerations include geography, as well as demographic and biographical factors. Here are the top 15 candidates, along with their pros and cons and odds of being picked. For my thoughts on the Democratic veepstakes, see my column of May...

Mitt wins practically every poll when asked by voters who they wish to see as Vice President, most recently advancing to the Finals in the popular online MSNBC veepstakes poll (click here to vote for Mitt).
Rumor: McCain Has Chosen Romney As VP

Sen. John McCain will choose businessman and former Massachusetts Governor, Mitt Romney as Vice President, in his bid for the White House this November, a source closely connected with the McCain campaign, who asked to remain anonymous, told us earlier this afternoon. Though others were close in the running, the choice ultimately came down to the money–not the man. According to our source, the campaign narrowed their Vice Presidential options to Mike Huckabee and Mitt Romney, the two most successful opponents of McCain in the bid for the Republican nomination. But despite Huckabee’s sway with far Right conservatives and evangelical...

The Case for Mitt Romney as John McCain's VP

The Washington Post has an interesting article that makes a strong case for why Mitt Romney would be the right choice for John McCain as Vice-President. It centers on Romney's Economic background, and his appeal in at least four battleground states. Here are some excerpts . . .One factor not addressed in this analysis is the level of energy Romney would generate in these key states to not only vote for McCain but to get out and WORK for McCain-Romney. . . .

It turns out that the ideal vice presidential candidate for Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.), the presumptive Republican presidential nominee, is the same person as the ideal vice presidential candidate for Sen. Barack Obama (D-Ill.), the presumptive Democratic nominee, according to a sophisticated online survey by Affinnova Inc. For both candidates, the best running mate is Colin Powell, a former U.S. Army general and former secretary of state under President George H.W. Bush, according to the survey, which was powered by an Affinnova algorithm it calls "evolutionary optimization."

McCain VP short list should be minus one (Crist)

John McCain's short list for VP assumedly still includes one name that should be scrubbed immediately. Florida Governor Charlie Crist is not worthy of the honor and McCain would be wise to drop him hard and fast. Crist knowingly and deliberately violated the rules and bylaws of both the RNC and the DNC by holding Florida's presidential primary prior to February 5th, 2008. He is guilty of stealing votes from the citizens of Florida and needs to be held accountable, not rewarded. It should not matter if you are a Republican, a Democrat or an Independent.
Senator Obama: Pick Senator James Webb For Vice President

Supposed I am in the “Vice Presidential Search Committee” of Democratic Candidate Barack Obama. I’d immediately start researching and evaluating Virginia Senator James Webb. Senator Webb has a lot of attributes Senator Obama lacks and needs. He is also an author and a former Secretary of the Navy under President Ronald Reagan; Defense Department experience in a Republican Administration. A huge upcheck that Obama could use. Jim Webb was a “ground pounder” Marine Officer in Vietnam. This doesn’t completely neutralize John McCain’s “War Hero” status and doesn’t match McCain as a once-tortured Prisoner of War.
Only 18% Say McCain Should Pick Lieberman for VP

The concept of a McCain-Lieberman ticket is supported by 19% of Republicans, 14% of Democrats, and 22% of voters not affiliated with either major party.
