Richard Painter, a longtime Republican who was chief ethics lawyer for George W. Bush’s White House, intends to run for the U.S. Senate in Minnesota this year as a Democrat, according to a filing he made recently with federal elections officials. Painter, a persistent and frequent critic of President Donald Trump on national cable TV news appearances and on Twitter, is expected to announce his candidacy at a Monday news conference. He’s running for Democrat Al Franken’s former seat. Franken resigned Jan. 2 in the wake of numerous sexual harassment allegations.

This thread is a friendly collaborative place for FReepers to analyze information and share opinons. FReepers have a wide variety of reasons for investigating Q Anon content; this is not the appropriate place to criticize or badger those who choose to use some of their time in this manner. I plan to post one thread at a time and ping new drops posted to it. When I post each (new) thread, the prior thread is retired and all new posts occur on the newest thread. Congratulations and a big thank you to @SpeakerRyan, @SenateMajLdr and the Republican leaders who led the charge on tax reform. With the President's signature, the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act will jump start economic growth and provided needed relief for American families.

President Trump boasted Friday that he fulfilled a campaign promise by recognizing Jerusalem as Israel’s capital — mocking his three predecessors with clips showing them only voicing support for the move. “I fulfilled my campaign promise – others didn’t!” Trump tweeted early Friday. In the montage, Bill Clinton is seen in 1992 saying: “Jerusalem is still the capital of Israel and must remain an undivided city accessible to all.” George W. Bush, who is seen in 2000, says: “As soon as I take office, I will move the United States ambassador to the city Israel has chosen as its capital.”...

WASHINGTON — President Trump on Monday officially designated North Korea as a state sponsor of terrorism, returning the rogue nation to a list from which it had been removed during the George W. Bush administration. North Korea had been removed from the list under the George W. Bush administration in an attempt to salvage negotiations for a nuclear deal. The president made the announcement at the White House on Monday morning. North Korea will join Sudan, Syria and Iran as countries that the State Department identifies as ones that have “repeatedly provided support for acts of international terrorism.” Administration officials...

My Leftist friends (as well as many ardent #NeverTrumpers) constantly ask me if I’m not bothered by Donald Trump’s lack of decorum. They ask if I don’t think his tweets are “beneath the dignity of the office.” Here’s my answer: We Right-thinking people have tried dignity. There could not have been a man of more quiet dignity than George W. Bush as he suffered the outrageous lies and politically motivated hatreds that undermined his presidency. We tried statesmanship. Could there be another human being on this earth who so desperately prized “collegiality” as John McCain? We tried propriety – has...

Former White House adviser Steve Bannon says there has not been a more destructive presidency than George W. Bush’s. Bannon delivered a scathing criticism of the former president after Bush this week denounced bigotry in Trump-era American politics, warning that the rise of “nativism,” isolationism and conspiracy theories have clouded the nation’s true identity. Bannon told a capacity crowd at a California Republican convention in Anaheim that Bush “embarrassed himself.” In his remarks in New York, Bush warned of a nation in which discourse has been degraded by “casual cruelty,” where bigotry is emboldened. Bannon says Bush has no idea...

President George W. Bush on Thursday issued a thinly veiled warning about the state of American democracy under the current president, arguing that "bigotry seems emboldened" and politics is "more vulnerable" to conspiracy theories. Speaking at the George W. Bush Institute's "The Spirit of Liberty: At Home, in the World," a national forum in New York City, the former president warned that the trend in Western countries of moving away from democratic confidence and global engagement is seeping into American culture. Parts of Europe, Bush said, have developed an "identity crisis" as a result of economic stagnation, youth unemployment and...

George W. Bush hinted Thursday at his dissatisfaction with Donald Trump, complaining in a New York City speech that 'bullying and prejudice' has become a caustic norm in American public life. At an event hosted by the George W. Bush Institute, the 43rd U.S. president rattled off a thinly veiled litany of complaints about the current commander-in-chief, focusing on both his tone and his isolationist policy choices.

President Donald Trump's recent comments are making Republican strategist Ron Christie nervous – and he told CNBC he's probably not the only one. On Thursday, Trump cryptically suggested that a meeting with senior military leaders was "the calm before the storm. "It gives our allies and adversaries pause for reflection to say, 'What is the United States about to do?'" said Christie, former special assistant to President George W. Bush. Former President George W. Bush says he can’t remember if he said “that was some weird s***” after President Trump’s inauguration speech in January. He was asked about the alleged remark in an interview that aired on NPR’s “Morning Edition” Thursday. He does, however, clearly remember his awkward response to rain that day. “I wish I got the rain poncho on a little more cleanly,” Bush joked, referring to his struggle to put on a transparent poncho during the ceremony as it began to rain. “My daughters were aghast. ‘Dad, you’re a national tweet sensation. You’re trending,’ or whatever the...

Former president George W. Bush reportedly said Donald Trump’s inaugural speech was “some weird sh-t.” Bush made the comments after the January inauguration ceremony, which was also attended by Presidents Obama, Carter and Clinton, according to New York Magazine. “That was some weird sh-t,” Bush said before departing the dais, where he infamously struggled to wrangle a poncho in the day’s downpour.

A convicted Palestinian terrorist and a key figure of the recent Women’s March will be deported from the United States after accepting a plea bargain that allows her to escape a prison sentence.Rasmea Odeh will be stripped of her U.S citizenship and forced to leave the country and return to Jordan after failing to disclose to immigration authorities that she had been imprisoned in Israel for committing two terror attacks. As part of her plea bargain, however, Odeh won’t have to spend time in U.S prison or detention, according to a statement on Thursday by the Rasmea Defense Committee. The terrorist-turned-activist rose to prominence in...

This is the 13th anniversary of the start of the Iraq War II. What if President George W. Bush had not invaded Iraq? I suggest this scenario: 1. Saddam Hussein would have become a bigger threat to the region. He had clearly come to the conclusion that the West would not stop him and was acting as such. 2. Iraq would have continued shooting at U.S. and UK planes enforcing UN resolutions. How many times do you allow someone to fire missiles at your aircraft? 3. What about Israel? We do know today that Iraq won't be attacking Israel or...

Former President George W. Bush is criticizing President Donald Trump's first month in office, though he remains optimistic about the future. "I don't like the racism and I don't like the name-calling and I don't like the people feeling alienated," Bush told People magazine. "Nobody likes that." . . . "I didn't feel like speaking out before because I didn't want to complicate the job and I'm not going to this time. However, at the Bush Center we are speaking up." The Bush Center programs include immigration ceremonies, AIDS prevention programs in Africa and leadership training for Muslim women.

A caller just mentioned George W. Bush making a comment on the present political situation in a negative fashion against President Trump AND in defense of the media!!! He is a TRAITOR along with McCain, Graham and other Republicans who are corrupt, bought-off and leading this nation over the edge of the cliff. The caller made an excellent point the Bush had nothing to say about Obama's wrecking ball on the nation. The elites are all on the special lifeboat while the Titana-US is sinking after hitting the immigrationliberalleftistpro-immorality iceberg.

Bush emphasized to host “Today” host Matt Lauer the importance to “worship freely.” “I think it’s very important for all of us to recognize one of our great strengths is for people to be able to worship the way they want to or not worship at all,” Bush said. “The bedrock of our freedom, a bedrock of our freedom, is the right to worship freely. And I — you see, I understood right off the bat, Matt this, that is an ideological conflict. And people who murder the innocent are not religious people. They want to advance an ideology. And...
