  • Today's Front-Page Wall Street Journal Story Lies About Israel

A huge front-page story in today's Wall Street Journal is called "Israel Outflanks White House in Pressing Gaza Strategy." The piece contends among other things that Israel has been doing an end-around the White House by securing munitions directly from the Pentagon. That contention is false. In fact, buried in the twenty-first paragraph of the piece is an explanation that the weapons purchase that they suggest is an end-around in the first few paragraphs is actually standard operating procedure. The WSJ piece begins: White House and State Department officials who were leading U.S. efforts to rein in Israel's military campaign...

This month marks the fifth anniversary of the current bull market on Wall Street, making it one of the longest and strongest in history. Yet U.S. stock ownership is at a record low and less than half of Americans trust banks and financial services. And in the last two weeks, the New York attorney general and the Commodities Futures Trading Commission in Washington have both launched investigations into high-frequency computerized stock trading that now controls more than half the market.

Jerusalem (CNSNews.com) - The sale of Nativity scenes with a wall running through the middle to symbolize Israel's security barrier borders on anti-Semitism, Jewish groups are saying. The Amos Trust, a British Christian charity that works with needy communities around the world, is selling the traditional Nativity sets with a political twist, noting that the wise men won't reach the stable because of the wall. The Amos Trust says its Nativity sets are made by Palestinian carpenters from olive wood from Bethlehem. Israel started building its security barrier -- a series of walls and fences -- in response to an...

It's a batting average that won't land the federal marketplace for Obamacare into the Healthcare Hall of Fame. As few as 1 in 100 applications on the federal exchange contains enough information to enroll the applicant in a plan, several insurance industry sources told CNBC on Friday. Some of the problems involve how the exchange's software collects and verifies an applicant's data. "It is extraordinary that these systems weren't ready," said Sumit Nijhawan, CEO of Infogix, which handles data integrity issues for major insurers including WellPoint and Cigna, as well as multiple Blue Cross Blue Shield affiliates. DETROIT (WWJ) – Prosperous suburbs surrounding Detroit — and even the struggling enclaves within — are working to distance themselves from a city in financial ruin. In Hamtramck, one City Council candidate is taking that idea to the extreme. Richard Fabiszak has proposed that Hamtramck build a 12 or 14-foot wall around the city, keeping out Detroiters, and requiring state-issued identification to get in. “That sounds crazy to me,” one Hamtramck resident told WWJ Newsradio 950′s Sandra McNeil. “I never heard of such a thing. If no deal is reached this year, then on 1 January, daily tax withholdings will rise by an average of about $4 per person. Any money actually deducted from pay checks will be refunded if a deal is subsequently reached that returns tax rates to 2012 levels. Government spending probably won't change at the start of the new year, since President Obama has considerable discretion over the flow of spending. The Martin Luther King Jr. monument was dedicated recently in Washington, D.C. I was reminded then that the civil rights movement in America was led not by a politician fulfilling campaign promises nor by a popular evangelist bent on saving souls, but by a highly trained theologian who put his theology into practice with a demand for justice for those who had suffered at the hands of the rich and the powerful. King was a Baptist preacher who took his religion into the arena of racism, economics and social disparity. Hatred caught up with him, and he was killed. Now...

The Occupy Wall Street protests have been going on for a month. And it seems the FBI and NYPD have had help tracking protesters' moves thanks to a conservative computer security expert who gained access to one of the group's internal mailing lists, and then handed over information on the group's plans to authorities and corporations targeted by protesters. Since the Occupy Wall Street protest began on September 17, New York security consultant Thomas Ryan has been waging a campaign to infiltrate and discredit the movement. Ryan says he's done contract work for the U.S. Army and he brags on...

MTV will air a reality TV show based on the Occupy Wall Street protests at Zuccotti Park. Brian Stelter, The New York Times media reporter, said on Twitter that an episode of the “True Life” series, “True Life: I’m Occupying Wall Street,” would appear on Nov. 5. There was a casting call for one of the protesters to appear, Entertainment Weekly reported.

Occupy Wall Street may be "leaderless," but it's far from directionless. In the time since the protest movement began on Sept. 17, its "We Are the 99 Percent" (http://wearethe99percent.tumblr.com/) message has exploded into a national rallying cry, inspiring not only a bustling mini-city in New York's financial district, but also an overnight network of sympathizers from Seattle to Miami. According to the unofficial umbrella group Occupy Together, some 1,500 cities worldwide will see "Occupy" events this week. And while the nebulous campaign is focused mainly on economic issues, it has also strived for inclusiveness, winning the support of diverse groups...

A big thank you to all the conservatives and tea party members who supported the first episode of my new conservative cartoon, “The Les Dowrey Show.” After losing my talk radio job when my Midwestern station was purchased by a Spanish broadcasting group, I did not know what to do, but with the encouragement of many friends, family members, and fellow conservatives I spent several months developing the Tea Party’s answer to cartoons like Family Guy and South Park. With that being said, I proudly present to you episode 2 of the Les Dowrey show. In this episode Les Dowrey...

When it comes time to discuss Israel, Adbusters finds a way to describe the Jewish State in the most offensive of terms. While not specifically mentioning Jews, Adbusters substitutes other terms to make false and border-line anti-Semitic comments, or trying to set up the Jews/Israel as the scapegoat for America's problems. From an article called Revolution in America: Not content with stripping us as citizens of our sovereignty, our corporate-backed rulers have instituted a foreign policy that delights in permanent war and international instability. From cynically squandering billions of dollars of taxpayer money each year in gifts to the apartheid...

Okay, you can lift your lower jaw off the floor. I haven’t joined the dark side: My problem isn’t economic but lexical. I do hate capitalism — the term. As you know, in the eyes of many, “capitalism” has become both a four-letter word and the target of such. For example, New York Magazine questioned a group of Wall Street protesters on October 2 and found that 37 percent believed capitalism was “inherently immoral.” If you find this unremarkable for Woodstock-meets-Wall Street rabble, consider a 2009 Rasmussen poll showing that “only 53% of American adults believe capitalism is better than...

Hat tip to Chris Moody for this clip. This comes from a film called Early Warnings. It shows a 1979 protest in New York on the 50th anniversary of the 1929 stock market crash. See if the vibe isn’t familiar:
