  • Warner Bros. Chief Diversity Officer on How to Deal With White Men Who Question DEI: Just Ignore Them and "Change the Culture" Around Them Until They "Will Start Saying This Place Isn't the Way it Used to Be and They'll Leave Themselves, Which is Great!"

He doesn't specify that he wants white men to self-deport, but, come on, they're the people getting screwed by DEI, so they're the ones most likely to oppose it. And his response is just to make conditions at the company unlivable for them so that they'll leave, supposedly of their own accord, thus sparing the company the need to fire them and the hazard of racial discrimination lawsuits. Warner Bros. Discovery's Chief Global Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Officer Asif Sadiq recently shared his tact on how to get rid of opponents of DEI from major corporations. As reported by News...

Warner Bros. Discovery CEO David Zaslav met with Paramount Global CEO Bob Bakish on Tuesday in New York City to discuss a possible merger, Axios has learned from multiple sources. Why it matters: The combination would create a news and entertainment behemoth that would likely trigger further industry consolidation. Zaslav also has spoken to Shari Redstone, who owns Paramount's parent company, about a deal. WBD's market value was around $29 billion as of Wednesday, while Paramount's was just over $10 billion, so any merger would not be of equals. Details: The meeting between Zaslav and Bakish, which sources say lasted...

Texas congressman Joaquin Castro calls for the Justice Department and Federal Trade Commission to look into whether the studio violated antitrust guidelines in tax write-off plan: "It's predatory and anti-competitive."A congressman is calling for a federal investigation of Warner Bros. for its handling of Coyote vs. Acme. Texas Rep. Joaquin Castro took to X to blast the studio for its original plan to shelve the movie for a tax break. “The WBD tactic of scrapping fully made films for tax breaks is predatory and anti-competitive,” the San Antonio Democrat wrote. “As the Justice Department and revise their antitrust guidelines they...

At least someone got to see “Batgirl.” A select group of folks — mostly people who worked on the show, both cast and crew, as well as representatives and executives — reportedly have been invited to private screenings of the “shelved” film on the Warner Bros. Studio lot this week, multiple sources told The Hollywood Reporter. One insider even described the viewings as “funeral screenings” before the footage is locked away in a vault — but it’s unknown if that vault is physical or digital. On Tuesday, the filmmakers behind the movie, Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah, said they...
  • Why did BLM buy LA mansion for $5.8m from developer friend who paid $3.1m for it just six days earlier? Transaction 'raises serious questions' - but founder Patrisse Cullors says criticism is 'racist and sexist'

A Los Angeles mansion frequented by Marilyn Monroe and Humphrey Bogart was bought by a real estate developer working for BLM founder Patrisse Cullors and her partner for $3.1 million, and then purchased by BLM's foundation just six days later for $5.8 million in cash, it has emerged. The rapid price inflation 'raises serious questions,' ethics experts said. The purchase of the 6,500 square-foot, six-bedroom property in Studio City was first revealed on Monday by New York Magazine, amid growing questions about BLM's finances. The organization in February 2021 said it had taken in more than $90 million in 2020...

When Warner Bros. announced that “Wonder Woman 1984” would land on the streaming service HBO Max on Christmas, the same time it debuts in theaters, many expected it to be an isolated case in response to an unprecedented pandemic. Instead, the studio will deploy a similar release strategy for the next 12 months. In a surprising break from industry standards, Warner Bros.’ entire 2021 slate — a list of films that includes “The Matrix 4,” Denis Villeneuve’s “Dune” remake, Lin-Manuel Miranda’s musical adaptation of “In the Heights,” “Sopranos” prequel “The Many Saints of Newark” and “The Suicide Squad” — will...

Margot Robbie’s “Birds of Prey” is set to open well below forecasts, with about $34 million at 4,236 North American sites, early estimates showed on Friday. Estimates for “Birds of Prey,” a spinoff of 2016’s “Suicide Squad,” had been in the $45 million to $55 million range, with Warner Bros. projecting an opening closer to $45 million. “Birds of Prey,” which carries a reported $80 million price tag, touched down with $4 million on Thursday night. Reviews have been strong, earning the film a 84% rating on Rotten Tomatoes — a reversal from “Suicide Squad’s” 27%. The film made $7.8...

One week after “Motherless Brooklyn” disappointed the box office, Warner Bros. has yet another flop in the form of “Doctor Sleep.” The Mike Flanagan-directed horror film based on Stephen King’s “The Shining” sequel was tracking for a debut in the $25 million range, but its opening weekend came in well below that mark with a dismal $14 million total. While “Doctor Sleep’s” $50 million production is a saving grace, Deadline reports the film is expected to lose between $20 million and $30 million for Warner Bros. “Doctor Sleep” now joins “The Goldfinch,” “Gemini Man,” and “Terminator: Dark Fate” as one...

There's one director who doesn't care what his peers think. While the rest of Hollywood is running away from the state of Georgia in protest of the pro-life "heartbeat bill," which bans abortions the moment a heartbeat is detected, Clint Eastwood and Warner Brothers are staying put for their new film, Richard Jewell. The studio has explained to the press that the film, based on the true story of the bombing at Atlanta's Centennial Park during the 1996 Summer Olympics, would be best served by geographical authenticity. “We have made the decision to tell this compelling story — based on...
  • Dumb question about Looney Tunes

When I was a kid, I loved to wake up Saturday morning to watch The Bugs Bunny Roadrunner hour. I bought the Looney Tunes golden collection which should contain most of the episodes, and it is money well spent. Those episodes never get old. But I was wondering, is there anyone here old enough to remember how they were originally broadcast back in the 40s and 50s? I doubt they had Saturday morning cartoon lineups back then. Did you have to go to the movie theaters to watch them or what?

President Trump’s latest 2020 campaign video was removed from Twitter Tuesday night after Warner Brothers Pictures requested it be taken down due to the use of music from “The Dark Knight Rises'” score in the clip. “The use of Warner Bros.’ score from ‘The Dark Knight Rises’ in the campaign video was unauthorized,” a Warner Brothers spokesperson said in a statement before the removal. “We are working through the appropriate legal channels to have it removed.” The two-minute video not only utilized Hans Zimmer’s “Why Do We Fall?” from the 2012 threequel, but also shared the font used for the...

Faheem Younus, an Associate Professor at the University of Maryland, believes that films like "American Sniper," as well as Fox News, are at fault for the tragic shooting in Charleston that left nine dead. Dr. Younus responded to the news by blaming popular media for the shooting. "Stop glorifying mass murderers as heroes and it may prevent the next #CharlestonShooting #BlackLivesMatter," he wrote this afternoon: He also wrote that Fox News helped cause the shooting as well: Younus further said that Roof, the shooter, was "predictably white:"
