Climatologists Claim They Know the Future, But Can't Predict This Winter

Computer models can't accurately predict the weather over the next few weeks. The story excerpted below highlights the failure of the UK Met Office to predict a cooler than normal winter. They predicted the opposite. However, anthropogenic global warming believers would have us believe their simplified climatology model versions of weather prediction software can predict a catastrophic increase in the temperature over the next 100 years. They want us to spend trillions of dollars and do long term damage to the worlds economy based on these unsubstantiated predictions. We would have to be insane to comply with out better proof....

Snowstorm squelches climate change protest

A downtown protest of the climate change talks in Copenhagen became a victim of Wednesday's snowstorm. "Not many people showed up because of the blizzard conditions," said organizer Clea Major, an international studies student at the University of Utah. It didn't take long for the six friends to pack up a bullhorn and posters they'd planned to use for their "scream-in," an outlet for their frustration about the failure of the Copenhagen climate talks earlier this month to curb the pollution blamed for climate change.

Natural Variability Led to Extra-Cold 2008, Research Finds (paging Al Gore)

An especially cold year in North America in 2008 led some members of the public and the media to question the scientific consensus on human-induced global warming. In addition, the cool global temperatures during the past decade may appear to contrast with the warming expected due to human influence. To clarify the roles of human influence and natural climate variability, Perlwitz et al. used observed temperature data and a suite of climate model simulations to analyze factors contributing to the 2008 North American temperature conditions.

Storm continues to disrupt travel in Plains, East

OMAHA, Neb. – Drifting snow and cold rain that have plagued much of the country for days stranded drivers and airline passengers Saturday trying to get home after Christmas. Storms from Texas to the Upper Midwest that dumped 23.9 inches of snow in Grand Forks, N.D., and 18 inches near Norfolk, Neb., began subsiding, but blowing and drifting snow hampered visibility in many areas. Warmer temperatures and rains in the East began melting and washing away last week's record-setting snowfalls, threatening the region with flooding. A woman and her teenage daughter in Middletown, Pa., a suburb of Philadelphia, were rescued...

Snowstorms and subfreezing temperatures have battered Europe, killing 15 people in Poland alone overnight and wreaking havoc on air, train and car travelers from the Nordics to Italy on the last weekend before Christmas...In Italy, where winters are generally milder, heavy snow and subfreezing temperatures were causing havoc. Italian farm lobby Coldiretti warned that the ice-and-snow-blanketed roads were delaying the distribution of milk and produce while the freezing temperatures risked damaging fruit trees, olive groves and vineyards.

Conditions Ripe for a White Christmas

(Dec. 11) -- The weather might seem complex, but the recipe for snow isn't as complicated as the recipe for Grandma's fruitcake. All that's needed is cold air and precipitation, and both look potentially abundant throughout the rest of the month, leading to the possibility of a more widespread white Christmas in 2009 than in recent years. The likelihood of a white Christmas is always high -- greater than 75 percent -- in the northern tier of the country and in the mountains of the West. However, the presence of an El Niño and the threat of colder-than-normal weather will...
