SAN FRANCISCO (BCN) ― A lawsuit filed by conservative radio talk show host Michael Savage against a Muslim civil rights group came to an end Thursday when Savage's lawyer told a federal judge in San Francisco that he won't try to amend it. Savage sued the Washington, D.C.-based Council on American-Islamic Relations, known as CAIR, last year after it posted on its Web site a four-minute excerpt of anti-Islamic comments by Savage along with a critique of his words. Savage made the comments during an Oct. 29, 2007, broadcast of The Savage Nation, a nationally syndicated show based in San...

A recent lawsuit filed by radio host and author Michael Savage against Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) is one of the latest acts of racism against Muslims in the United States. Savage, who is often criticized for his fascist and racist opinions, sued Washington-based CAIR for copyright infringement, saying the council had rebroadcast over four minutes from his radio show The Savage Nation on their website as an example of the bigotry and hatred against Muslims in the US. The excerpts had placed the San Francisco-based host's hateful comments against Islam, Muslims and their holy book, Qur'an, on their website....

Michael Savage, the incendiary radio host who last week characterized nearly every autistic child as “a brat who hasn’t been told to cut the act out,” said in a telephone interview Monday morning that he stood by his remarks and had no intention of apologizing to those advocates and parents who have called for his firing over the matter. “My main point remains true,” Mr. Savage, whose radio audience ranks in size behind only those of Rush Limbaugh and Sean Hannity, said in an interview on Monday. “It is an overdiagnosed medical condition. In my readings, there is no definitive...

Conservative radio talk-show host Michael Savage has come under fire from a group of liberal, leftist politicians in the San Francisco Bay Area. But why aren't other high-profile, nationally syndicated, conservative talk-show personalities coming to his defense? They are conspicuous by their silence. Earlier this month, the City and County of San Francisco Board of Supervisors came up a single vote short of adopting a resolution condemning the conservative commentator for his political speech. Drafted in response to Savage's comments regarding illegal immigrants, the resolution cites a public rally calling for the "termination of Michael Savage's show" and goes so...

Michael Savage, one of the most vocal talk-radio opponents of "San Francisco liberals," has the best talk-radio ratings among key listener demographics in that California city. Talk Radio Networks' "The Michael Savage Show" is tops in News/Talk with a 4.3 share among male listeners 12 and older. Savage has a 4.8 share with men aged 25 to 54, and a 5.6 share with men aged 35 to 64 in the Fall Book on his flagship station of Talk910-AM KNEW, San Francisco. Savage's national radio audience also had substantial growth in cities such as New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Boston, Atlanta,...

I've always known there was something wrong with Michael Savage's schtick. It's intolerable. He talks like an absolute madman. He is just about as intemperate as you can get and still be on the radio. Now I know what was wrong. The whole thing is a put-on: Supporting a candidate out of your own wallet may be the most accurate gauge of what a donor believes in his heart. So it should come as a shock to fans to learn where their hero distributes his own political gifts. Which are not ungenerous. Just ask Jerry Brown, the decidedly liberal candidate...

Consider the case of Michael Savage, right-wing radio guy, and the not trivial effect he could have on the upcoming election. What’s curious about him is the tantalizing possibility — now with a smoking gun — that his three-hour daily show is an act, a put-on. According to Talkers magazine, he’s the country’s third-most-listened-to radio talk host, with 8.25 million listeners who frequently call in to hail him as a “great American.” As Publishers Weekly records, his first book, The Savage Nation (2003), sold 400,000 copies while its rabidly titled successors (The Enemy Within, Liberalism Is a Mental Disorder, and...

Strange bedfellows: It turns out that ultra-hot conservative talk show host Michael Savage is backing Oakland Mayor Jerry Brown for state attorney general. "What can I say? I think he'd make a great attorney general compared to the other guy. By the way, who is the other guy?'' Savage said, when asked why he chose Democrat Brown over conservative Republican Chuck Poochigian. Savage, whose rants can be heard locally on KNEW-AM, is backing up his hot talk with some hot money as well. Savage Productions, which lists Savage as president and his wife, Janet Weiner, as director, has donated $5,600...

Savage said Wikipedia didn't have mention of his $5000 donation to the boys. It does. You know, I'm a big fan, but a man of his means and stature should have a better looking website. Is he hiring the same druid that farked up his porch to be webmaster? And he doesn't have a decent email address to contact him.

There is a growing trend in men's fashion, the handbag. It goes by many names: the man-bag, the murse. It is a cross between a backpack and a briefcase that looks very much like a pocketbook. They have been big in Europe for quite some time. Who can forget Jerry Seinfeld's exclamation, "It's European." But now, it is coming to America. Why? Because in these teched-out, decked-out times, American men need to put all that stuff somewhere. Guys have their cell phones, BlackBerries, wallets, checkbooks, sunglasses, body spray, you name it. And the 21st century guy wants to put it...

Utah race stirs calls for a deal on immigration After Bush ally scores a victory in GOP primary, one lawmaker pushes comprehensive bill By GEBE MARTINEZ WASHINGTON - With President Bush's immigration policy surviving fierce criticism in a Utah congressional race, lawmakers on both sides of the debate turned their attention Wednesday to finding a compromise on immigration legislation. Those who oppose Bush's call for immigration reform — which includes a guest worker program and legalization opportunities for millions of illegal immigrants along with tougher border security — saw five-term Rep. Chris Cannon, R-Utah, survive a tough primary challenge after...

Four fraternity members accused of making pledges wear cowboy clothes and suffer homophobic insults in a "Brokeback Mountain"-themed initiation ritual face $1,000 fines under the state's anti-hazing law. University of Vermont police said the civil penalties stemmed from a March 2 party at the Phi Gamma Delta house based on the movie about gay cowboys. "What they did, which I felt was homophobic in nature, was inappropriate," UVM Police Chief Gary Margolis said. Phi Gamma Delta's alumni advisers have denied accounts of anti- homosexual remarks and heavy drinking at the party. Chittenden County Deputy State's Attorney Ed Sutton said his...

The owner of a Portland, Ore., grocery chain has removed Rockstar energy drinks from the shelves. The founder of Rockstar, Russell Goldencloud Weiner, is the son of Michael Savage, the perpetually enraged talk radio host. Brian Rohter, owner of New Seasons Market, told The Portland Oregonian that Mr. Savage did "his best to take apart the fabric of our society and to attack American values." In 2003, MSNBC fired Mr. Savage after he told a caller he assumed was gay to "get AIDS and die." He continues to employ a similar tone on his syndicated radio show. On www.rockstar69.com, Mr....
