The world’s largest viking ship has arrived in North America after crossing the North Atlantic Ocean on a journey from its homeport in Haugesund, Norway. The Viking ship, named Draken Harald Hårfagre, set sail from Norway with its approximately 32 crew members in late April and made stops in Iceland, Greenland and Newfoundland, Canada, before making its way through the Saint Lawrence Seaway to Toronto for the Tall Ships Challenge Great Lakes 2016 festival this weekend. Future stops for the Viking ship include Chicago, Green Bay and Duluth, before heading to U.S. east coast with stops in New York City...

Sometimes you see weird stuff on Youtube during court sentencing, but this one takes the cake. Convict Ricky Hand, 46, was in court this past Wednesday to receiving sentencing for participating in multiple "armed" robberies. Either he didn't want his freedom, or he wanted to be locked up because any sensible citizen knows you just don't do that. Hand blamed drugs for his crime "fetish." Well, the judge didn't find it funny nor did he think Hand should get a slap on the wrist as pulling a weapon to steal and placing lives in danger is not a ticket to...

Democratic National Committee documents leaked by a hacker Tuesday reveal that Hillary Clinton’s requirements to give a speech included a private flight and a luxurious presidential hotel suite. One of the documents leaked is a form filled out by the University of Nevada, Las Vegas Foundation for the Harry Walker Agency. The Harry Walker Agency is a speaker’s bureau, which represented Hillary Clinton. On top of the $225,000 fee for her 20 minute speech, the agency gave the UNLV Foundation “standard travel expenses” for Clinton. This “include[s] a chartered roundtrip private air transportation (e.g., a Gulfstream 450 or larger jet),...

Ever since I woke up this morning I have been unusually bothered by my unexpected questioning of my response to the one great ethical dilemma in my life. This event took place, oddly enough, on April Fools day, 1997 which means that now it is nearly 20 years old. I had a little talk with God at the time asking Him if this was His idea of an April Fools joke on me. I am still interested in discussing this issue with Him when I finally meet Him Sandal to face.Even though it is now 20 years past, I sense...

A lesbian couple featured in a BuzzFeed video on “gender non-conforming” parenting is trying to force their son to have a “queer” relationship with his gender despite his protests. “It’s really funny, because he’s like super into sports,” Michelle said. “Maybe he was like an Olympic athlete in his past life. He like, came with all of these sporting talents that are like visible at 17 months. That’s what Dashiell liked growing up. She easily relates to him on that level.” “I’m constantly like trying to queer my relationship with him and get him to wear tutus. He hates it....

Now I've seen everything. Is not enough that the Democrats tried to kick God off their platform back in 2008 or how the Democrats have removed God out of the public schools along with the Pledge of Allegiance, now they're adding witch doctors at the Trump rally. Let me start off by saying any news anchor that thinks they will get a straight and truthful answer from anyone in the Obama administration has to be as dumb as the day is long. Why even attempt to ask anyone one in government a question like this when they've been lying to the American people for years. Is ridiculous how we who use common sense can peep out when the mainstream media is pushing their agenda once again. No this is not a conflict of interest for me, for the department or for anyone. Has anyone else but me noticed a sudden change in advertising commercials on TV? Recently I saw a commercial selling some junk and there was a married couple depicted as a perky white blonde girl married to a slovenly, Arabic-looking guy with a full muzzie beard. I don't even know what they were selling but they looked so out of place together I could never imagine such a couple happening in real life. It would be like a show with Queen Elizabeth married to Bob Marley. It just was not realistic-looking and so unbelievable it distracted from whatever the commercial...

Despite the tone of America's current presidential campaigns, it is, in fact, 2016. In theory, companies should understand the kinds of actions that might be interpreted as racist or sexist. Unless, of course, those companies make laundry detergent in Italy or China. Or unless they're Fiat. Alas, Fiat has learned that the hard way, after facing serious backlash over an owner's manual distributed to customers in Argentina. Most startlingly, the manual assumed that cars would always be driven by men, with women only riding as "co-pilots" in the passenger's seat or back seat. It also assumed that women don't know...

In an armchair experiment where humans are thought of as no wiser than animals, scientists have found that climate change could empty some nations by 2100. A warming of 2 degrees Celsius would cause 34 percent of the world’s population to migrate more than 300 miles, to places on the fringes of the tropics where the temperatures are milder. Dramatic population declines might occur in Mexico, Central America, Africa and India. The results were published today in Scientific Reports. The scientists are cautious about the predictive power of their thought experiment, particularly as it relates to humans. People, unlike animals,...

Instead of keeping a departed loved one's ashes in an urn over the fireplace, why not breathe new life into them, in the form of a tree that can sit in your living room or outside on your porch? A new gadget helps you nurture life from ashes, and regardless of how green your thumbs are, it offers a way to keep loved ones close after they die. Every now and then, a distant star called KIC 8462852 dims by as much as 20 percent. That's huge. Even a passing planet as big as Jupiter would only block about 1 percent of the star's light. Ruling out a planet, scientists have no idea what could be eclipsing the star (which is informally known as 'Tabby's Star'). The leading hypothesis is a family of really big comets, but that doesn't quite fit. Astronomer Jason Wright pointed out that the light patterns are consistent with what we'd expect if aliens had built a Dyson swarm of solar collectors around the...

Let’s be frank. Human beings are a vengeful lot. They are emotional and strike back in the heat of the moment. Few have learned that “Revenge is a dish best served cold.” Whether we admit it or not, each of us possesses both a light and dark side. But in most cases, one or the other is in control. Very few people find total balance and manage to maintain that balance. Consequently, our lives are a continuous roller coaster ride. Shall we start at the beginning and revisit the famous pastoral couple — Adam and Eve? Since there is no...

As it stands now Sen. Cruz has 550 hard delegates and 15 soft delegates. He will pick up 20 here, and 27 there, and maybe even 100+ delegates. It is highly foreseeable that Ted reaches 666 delegates. Sadly, many are fearful that Ted may be 'locked in' or cursed at 666- the "Mark of the Beast." This can not be Ted's fate for 2016. Republican delegates must be in agreement to raise him above 666. An uncommitted delegate must be persuaded to vote for Ted and carry him beyond 'the mark' to 667. R-A-F-A-E-L = 6 F-I-L-I-T-O =6 E-D-W-A-R-D =...

Control language and you control thought. That is why progressives have been erasing our language one word at a time, boxing us into an ever smaller corner of what they decide should be permissible. The latest word to be banished is “Eskimo.” The taxpayer-funded thought police at NPR explain that although the word comes from the Ojibwe language, it has a “controversial history.” That is, it could be tainted with Western culture: -People in many parts of the Arctic consider Eskimo a derogatory term because it was widely used by racist, non-native colonizers.- Anything used by the colonizers who brought...

Most well-known conspiracies are rooted, even if only distantly, in fact: A blurry video, redacted government memos, a tragic real-life occurrence. Behold: The lizard people! The reptilian conspiracy Lizard people are a common part of multiple folklore traditions and they show up frequently enough in fiction to have become a trope if you’re generous, a cliché if you’re less so. From ancient myths all over...

Washington Post media blogger Erik Wemple reports that The New York Times is getting very serious about diversity goals in recruiting, hiring, and promoting. Chief Executive Mark Thompson raised eyebrows at a gathering of managers on the business and news sides of the newspaper. According to three Wemple sources, “Supervisors who fail to meet upper management’s requirements in recruiting and hiring minority candidates or who fail to seek out minority candidates for promotions face some stern consequences: They’ll be either encouraged to leave or be fired.” …
