White House threatens polygraphs for leakersBy Jeremy Herb - 06/25/12 08:20 PM ET Officials at the CIA, FBI and other intelligence agencies will be given expanded polygraph tests under a new Obama administration directive aimed at stamping out national-security leaks. James Clapper, the director of national intelligence, on Monday announced a series of steps intended to stop the leaks after a furious backlash from Congress over news reports that revealed closely guarded secrets. The most significant measure is the addition of a new question to the polygraph tests that are used by intelligence agencies. Officials will be asked during the...

Syrian opposition leaders fear President Obama's re-election campaign has taken precedence over their country’s humanitarian crisis, according to a delegation that visited Washington, D.C., last week. Representatives from the Syrian National Council, Syria’s largest rebel alliance, and Kurdish opposition leaders met members of Congress and the State Department, but say they hit a "wall" at the White House. The White House does not want you to remember some facts today. Unfortunately for them, the internet never forgets. In February of last year, the White House was very busy giving the Muslim Brotherhood free PR. This prompted the Telegraph to write an article entitled, "The Muslim Brotherhood gets a PR makeover from the Obama administration." In the piece, Administration officials are quoted as saying that the Muslim Brotherhood is a "largely secular" organisation that "eschewed violence." Today, after winning the Presidency, the M.B. declared that, "Allah willing," their new capital would be in Jerusalem. Something tells me that they...

Last week, President Obama hosted the first ever gay pride reception at the White House. Among the guests were two gay rights activists from Philadelphia who used the opportunity to “shoot the bird” at the portrait of former President Ronald Reagan. Pictures of Matthew “Matty” Hart, national director of public engagement at Solutions for Progress, and photographer Zoe Strauss making this obscene gesture are now circulating across the Internet.

Some people flip out when they visit the White House. A couple visitors last week, though, used the occasion to flip off -- a portrait of the late President Ronald Reagan. Two guests of the White House invited to a reception Friday to mark gay pride month were photographed giving the middle finger below Reagan's portrait. The images were first published by Philadelphia Magazine -- in the pictures, the guests had both middle fingers raised, pointing up toward Reagan. Photographer Zoe Strauss and Matty Hart, national director for public engagement at the group Solutions for Progress, had posted the images...

(The Washington Examiner) -- Reelections are busy times for a chief executive, and President Obama’s last 24 hours have been unusually jam-packed, but one made easier by his best constituencies: movie stars, young immigrants and gay activists. Obama didn’t return to the White House Friday morning until nearly 2 a.m. after attending two star-studded New York City fundraisers, including a stop at “Sex and the City” star Sarah Jessica Parker’s home where supporters paid $40,000 each and the Plaza Hotel where Mariah Carey sang and attendees paid $10,000 each. Today, to the applause of labor unions, he planned to grant...

It has been a Junius Horribilis for President Obama. Job growth has stalled, the Democrats have been humiliated in Wisconsin, the attorney general is facing a contempt-of-Congress citation, talks with Pakistan have broken down, Bill Clinton is contradicting Obama, Mitt Romney is outraising him, Democrats and Republicans alike are complaining about a “cascade” of national-security leaks from his administration, and he is now on record as saying that the “private sector is doing fine.” Could it get any worse? Early Monday morning, Obama learned that it could. His aides delivered the news to him that his commerce secretary had been...

A Senate panel investigation has sent out 7000 emails to active and former Secret Service agents asking for their input on the behavior of their brother Secret Service agents recently, and in times past, in various parts of the world. Other witnesses to the party-on attitude of the SS are also providing historical narratives, such as a Fort Worth Texas columnist, Ray Sanders, who recalls the drunken and riotous behavior of SS agents in Dallas way back in 1963 - the week JFK was assassinated. So, an agency's activities which have remained Top Secret for years, will now have to...

Chairman of the House Homeland Security Committee, Peter King (R-NY), sat down with Jamie Colby today on America’s News HQ to discuss the investigation into the leaks on counter-terrorism programs. Congressman King said, “This is the most shameful cascade of leaks I’ve ever heard or seen in government. We’re not talking about an incidental leak coming out … We’re talking about leaks involving two of the most sensitive programs in the United States government.” He said it’s “clear” from those stories published in The New York Times that the information “came from the White House, came right from the National...

David Axelrod Says Classified Leaks Not From White HouseBy George Stephanopoulos | ABC OTUS News – 5 hrs ago Obama campaign senior adviser David Axelrod said he is confident that newly launched investigations will show that recent leaks on classified national security information did not come from the White House. "I think the authors of all of this work have said that the White House was not the source of this information," Axelrod told me this morning on "This Week." "I can't say that there weren't leaks. There were obvious leaks, but they weren't from the White House." Axelrod said...

Capitol Hill- It was another tense hearing for Attorney General Eric Holder on Capitol Hill where he testified before the House Judiciary Committee about Justice Department Oversight today. Holder was asked about and covered a variety of topics, but his personal role and those of his senior Justice Department officials in the lethal Fast and Furious operation were front and center. Chairman Lamar Smith opened his remarks with Fast and Furious, saying the Department of Justice has not provided enough information about the operation that has left hundreds dead in Mexico and at least one U.S. federal agent, Brian...

(CNN) - The FBI has begun an investigation into apparent leaks of classified information involving a U.S. cyberwarfare program against Iran, a U.S. official said Wednesday. FBI spokesman Paul Bresson had no comment on the reported investigation. Some leading senators have called for a congressional inquiry as well. But the White House pushed back Wednesday against suggestions that it could be leaking classified information for political purposes. "This administration takes all appropriate and necessary steps to prevent leaks of classified information or sensitive information that could risk ongoing counterterrorism or intelligence operations," Carney said aboard Air Force One as the...

Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) on Wednesday blasted the Obama administration over the disclosure of classified intelligence operations, leaks he said came from the “highest levels” at the White House. “This is the most highly classified information and it’s now been leaked by the administration at the highest levels at the White House and that’s not acceptable,” McCain said on CBS "This Morning." On Tuesday, McCain said the Senate Armed Services Committee would hold hearings about leaks detailing a U.S. cyberattack against Iran’s nuclear program and called for a special counsel to investigate the matter. A report last week in The...

ON Friday night, the nation’s capital was under a tornado watch. And that was the best thing that happened to the White House all week. As the president was being slapped by Mitt Romney for being too weak on national security, he was being rapped by a Times editorial for being too aggressive on national security. A Times article by Jo Becker and Scott Shane revealed that the liberal law professor who campaigned against torture and the Iraq war now personally makes the final decisions on the “kill list,” targets for drone strikes. “A unilateral campaign of death is untenable,”...

This ought to be fun. Barack and Michelle Obama will welcome The Most Evil Man in the World (or as he's known outside the Democratic Party, George W. Bush) and his wife Laura to the White House next week, for the unveiling of their official portraits. Of course, this comes as the current president is in full campaign mode, and W. occupies the role of Obama's eternal scapegoat. It'll be no minor miracle if Obama can make it through the unveiling without blaming Bush for something. Such ceremonies often bring together current and former presidents with rivalries, grudges or awkward...

White House calls 'BS' on GOP criticism of Obama spendingBy Jonathan Easley - 05/23/12 11:58 AM ET White House press secretary Jay Carney ripped GOP criticism about spending under the Obama administration, calling it “BS.” Carney also said reporting on the GOP criticism without exploring the counter-argument is “a sign of sloth and laziness” during an exchange Wednesday with reporters on Air Force One. “Do not buy into the BS that you hear,” Carney said, according to tweets and reports from multiple reporters aboard Air Force One on Monday. Carney, a former reporter, read a passage from an article by...
