Authorities in California say a 33-year-old San Diego County woman has been killed by a cannonball fired by her husband and another man. U-T San Diego (http://bit.ly/xllWgA ) reports the woman was found dead at about 12:15 a.m. Tuesday after the ball slammed into her home at the Twin Lakes Resort mobile home park in Potrero, a tiny community near the Mexican border. Australian carrier Qantas and Singapore Airlines on Friday reassured passengers there was no risk to safety after cracks were found on the wings of several A380 superjumbos, including some in their fleets. Airbus revealed on Thursday that "minor cracks" had been found on some jets, but the European plane maker said they posed no safety problem and recommended a way they could be fixed. CNN) -- A videotape on a Russian Web site allegedly showing a State Department employee having sex with a prostitute is a "smear campaign" meant to discredit the man, a State Department spokesman said Thursday. The employee, Brendan Kyle Hatcher, denied any encounter with a prostitute to his superiors at the U.S. Embassy in Moscow, another State Department official said. State Department spokesman Ian Kelly said the U.S. ambassador to Russia, John Beyrle, "supports" Hatcher, who remains at his job at the embassy.

An assistant police inspector of Mumbai police's crime branch, deployed in the outer security ring of US President Barack Obama, accidentally fired a shot from his .38 bore service revolver near Taj Mahal Hotel on Saturday evening. DODGE CITY — A visitor to Boot Hill Museum thought he'd stumbled on a photo opportunity Wednesday, but he wound up in the hospital instead. MARION COUNTY, Fla. -- A man who kidnapped and molested a Marion County boy choked to death in prison. Frederick Fretz died at a federal prison in Atwater, California after choking on a hot dog. In 2005, Fretz kidnapped 11-year-old Adam Kirkirt from Dunellon Elementary School. At the time, he told Kirkirt he was going to take him to his father, who had been arrested in Kentucky. Fretz and the child were later found in Georgia.

CHESAPEAKE - A 19-year-old who police said is in the country illegally was detained after a store clerk who processed film he dropped off suspected an undressed girl on the film could be underage.
