  • William Taylor, top US diplomat in Ukraine, is stepping down

William Taylor, the top US diplomat in Ukraine, will leave his post at the end of the year, according to a report. During House impeachment proceedings against President Trump, Taylor questioned the decision to withhold $391 million in military aid for Kiev and an Oval Office meeting with Trump for Ukraine President Voldymyr Zelensky. It was unclear whether he would leave before Secretary of State Mike Pompeo’s planned visit to Ukraine next month. Trump has lit into top diplomats who testified in the probe, calling them “Never Trumpers,” and it appeared unlikely Pompeo would visit Kiev until Taylor was gone.

It was evident several weeks ago that U.S. chargé d’affaires to Ukraine, Bill Taylor, is one of the current participants in the coup effort. It was Taylor who engaged in carefully planned text messages with EU Ambassador Gordon Sondland to set-up a narrative helpful to Adam Schiff’s political coup effort. Bill Taylor was formerly U.S. Ambassador to Ukraine (’06-’09) and later helped the Obama administration to design the laundry operation providing taxpayer financing to Ukraine in exchange for back-channel payments to U.S. politicians and their families. Today Rudy Giuliani has released a letter to Senator Lindsey Graham outlining how Bill...

State Department staffer David Holmes refused to promise Congress on Thursday afternoon that he would be more responsible in future with sensitive communications. The political officer for the U.S. embassy in Kyiv, Ukraine, was testifying in the last public hearing of the House Intelligence Committee impeachment inquiry. He said that he had overheard a phone conversation at an outdoor restaurant between President Donald Trump and U.S. Ambassador to the E.U. Gordon Sondland in which Trump had mentioned “investigations.” Though he did not take notes of that portion of the call, and had been drinking wine, Holmes said that his...

David Holmes, a State Department aide to Ambassador William Taylor, claims he overheard a conversation between President Trump and U.S. Ambassador to the European Union Gordon Sondland — on a cell phone — while at a restaurant in Kiev, Ukraine. n the impeachment hearing on Thursday, Democrat counsel Daniel Goldman asked Holmes “how were you able to hear if it was not on speakerphone?” “I have been watching people making phone calls my entire life. My hearing is, and has been, great. Never have I been watching a person making a call, which was not on speakerphone, and been able...

This week we witnessed yet another august civil servant, Ambassador William Taylor, immolate a hard-earned reputation over a 50-plus year career on the altar of the Deep State. Both Ambassador Taylor and former Special Counsel Robert Mueller began their public service careers as nobly as any American can - in the uniform of our country’s Armed Forces. Ambassador Taylor, a graduate of West Point and Mr. Mueller, a graduate of Princeton and Marine Corps Officer Candidate School, would lead men in combat as young officers on the battlefields of Vietnam. They would both be awarded Bronze Stars for their valorous...
  • U.S. envoy Sondland did not link Biden probe to aid: Ukraine minister

KIEV (Reuters) - Ukraine’s Foreign Minister Vadym Prystaiko said on Thursday that U.S. ambassador Gordon Sondland did not explicitly link military aid to Kiev with opening an investigation into former Vice President Joe Biden and his son, Interfax Ukraine reported. Trump and his allies are accused by Democrat opponents of freezing nearly $400 million in security aid to Ukraine to pressure President Volodymyr Zelenskiy to open investigations into Biden, Trump’s main rival for the 2020 presidential race. Trump calls the inquiry a witch hunt. “Ambassador Sondland did not tell us, and certainly did not tell me, about a connection between...

There’s an important revelation from the first day of impeachment hearings that I haven’t heard discussed. It has to do with the witnesses’ strange notion of how foreign policy works. Deputy Assistant Secretary of State George Kent and Acting Ambassador to Ukraine William Taylor both accused President Trump of interfering with U.S. foreign policy in Ukraine. They indicated they differed with Trump’s skepticism of Ukraine’s newest leadership, and they disagreed with Trump’s apparent decision to keep Ukraine at a measured distance while he assessed the situation. They further said that Trump gave approval for his attorney and adviser, Rudy Giuliani, to develop a communications channel on Ukraine...

If Schiff, the zealous California chair of the intelligence panel, has a compelling vision about how to persuade the public that the president committed crimes or anything approaching crimes involving Ukraine, it escapes me. The first day of hearings and the first witnesses should have at least been able to produce facts and tantalizing hints that would leave viewers wanting more. Instead, the performances of acting Ukraine Ambassador William Taylor and State Department official George Kent left the impression there is little or nothing more to want. Everything to come likely will offer only more detail about the things we...

William Taylor, the former U.S. ambassador to Ukraine, revealed new information about the president's interest in Ukraine and the "investigations of Biden" in his opening statement Wednesday at the first House impeachment inquiry hearing. "I am not here to take one side or the other or to advocate for any particular outcome of these proceedings," he said. "Last Friday, a member of my staff told me of events that occurred on July 26. While Ambassador Volker and I visited the front, this member of my staff accompanied Ambassador Sondland. Ambassador Sondland met with Mr. Yermak," Taylor claimed. "Following that meeting,...

Neither of these witnesses ever had a direct conversation with the president about Ukraine, but they're more than happy to testify to what others supposedly thought, what others supposedly said, their policy preferences, the president's "irregular" channel, etc. This might be ok for a Brookings Institute seminar, but is an abuse of process by the House Democrats and Schiff to use this pathetic and monotonous process to try to take out the president. I have never seen anything so preposterous. And this staged idiocy is the best the Democrats can do, even though it occurs AFTER the Democrats have been...

A key Democratic witness against Trump admitted in congressional testimony last month that he was not part of the July 25 phone call between the U.S. and Ukrainian presidents, that he didn’t see a transcript or readout of it until late September when it was declassified and released, and that he has never even spoken to President Donald Trump. William Taylor, the charge d’affairs of the U.S. Embassy in Kyiv, Ukraine, told lawmakers in secret testimony two weeks ago that his opinions about an alleged quid pro quo demanded by Trump were formed largely from conversations with anti-Trump staffers within...

We know from documentary evidence that Gordon Sondland, the U.S. ambassador to the EU, told William Taylor, our ambassador to Ukraine, that there was no quid pro quo involved in connection with Ukraine investigating the Bidens. Sondland appears to have been the president’s point person within the diplomatic corps for dealing with Ukraine in these matters. Sondland will testify before a congressional committee this week. According to the Washington Post, Sondland will say that his “no quid pro quo” message came from President Trump. In other words, Trump told him there was no such arrangement. Post reporters Aaron Davis and...

Lerner’s lawyer below says she did NOT waive her 5th Amendment rights. Professor Alan Dershowitz of Harvard Law says she did waive them. Bottom line — on close questions — you steer your client to a SAFE path. That is the role of a lawyer – to protect your client. As a former criminal defense attorney, I know the SAFE path would have been to say ZERO before the Committee (except to assert the 5th) and then go outside and say whatever you want to the cameras. The same would have been achieved with the safe route (and more!) except...

Tuesday afternoon a bombshell was dropped into the already explosive IRS scandal when it was reported that Lois Lerner, a top IRS official in the non-profit division that paralyzed Tea Party groups with ongoing harassment, would invoke the Fifth Amendment and refuse to answer questions during Congressional testimony schedule before the House Oversight Committee on Wednesday. The LA Times reports that Lerner will refuse to answer any questions about what she knows about the targeting of conservative groups. She will also refuse to explain why she is refusing to answer questions. Lerner has retained defense attorney William W. Taylor 3rd,...

When Connecticut Attorney General Richard Blumenthal, a liberal Democrat, decided to sue the federal government over testing provisions in the No Child Left Behind Act, he probably wasn't expecting flak from his political left. But that's exactly what he's received since filing the lawsuit last week. As first reported in the Hartford Courant, two national civil rights leaders, William Taylor and John Brittain, fired a letter to Mr. Blumenthal calling the lawsuit "ill-advised" and disputing his claim that the federal law is "an unfunded mandate." Messrs. Taylor and Brittain run civil rights organizations based in Washington but are veterans of...

The US is preparing to reshuffle top officials with responsibility for Afghanistan, expand the number of staff serving in the country, and award an additional $1bn (?870m, Ł620m) in assistance in a bid to re-energise its reconstruction effort, according to US and Afghan officials familiar with the plans. The policy shift, whose motto is "Accelerate Success", was a response by US State and Defense Department officials to a chorus of concern about the Afghan reconstruction process, officials said. The US government was eager to point to Afghanistan as a success story as it faced difficulty in getting the situation in...
