Fox News busts Wisconsin doctor faking sick notes on video. The latest in the long line of outrages that the pro-union, Democrat voters protesting in Wisconsin have perpetrated now includes fraud—medical fraud, that is. Yesterday, reports began emerging that doctors in the state were writing fraudulent sick notes to protesters, so that they could scam their employers into excusing them while they continued taking part in their opposition to Governor Scott Walker’s reasonable demand that they pay a little bit of their own healthcare costs. Fox News actually sent one of its producers to approach one such doctor in the...

[Madison, WI] As tens of thousands of public employees skipped work this week to attend protest rallies outside the Wisconsin State Capitol, many wondered if they would face any disciplinary action for unexcused absences. On Saturday, a group of men and women in lab coats purporting to be doctors were handing out medical excuse notes, without examining the ‘patients.’ “I asked this doctor what he was doing and he told me they were handing out excuses to people who were feeling sick due to emotional, mental or financial distress,” said Christian Hartsock. “They never performed an exam–he asked me how...

State law prohibits public school teachers from striking. So did Wednesday's "sick out" by Madison School District teachers constitute an illegal strike? No, said John Matthews, Madison Teachers Inc. executive director, who called the event "a political action," not a strike. "They're not protesting against their employers," he said. "The employer had nothing to do with this. This is trying to save public education in Wisconsin." Madison school officials didn't respond immediately Wednesday to requests for comment. Peter Davis, legal counsel with the Wisconsin Employment Relations Commission, which administers the state's collective bargaining laws, declined to say whether the action...

Dane County Circuit Court Judge Maryann Sumi denied a Madison School District request to force teachers back into the schools. But a lawyer for Madison Teachers Inc., the local teachers union, said in court teachers will return to school Tuesday. The district late Friday filed for a temporary restraining order to bar teachers from taking part in any further work stoppages such as teacher demonstrations that have closed schools three days this week. The filing characterizes the work stoppage as an illegal strike. Strikes by teachers are prohibited by state law.
