AND NOW . . . amidst billowing clouds of fragrant, aromatic first- and second-hand premium cigar smoke. . . it is time for . . . that harmless, lovable little fuzz ball, the highly-trained broadcast specialist, having more fun than a human being should be allowed to have, from behind the golden EIB microphone, firmly ensconced in the prestigious Attila-the-Hun chair at the Limbaugh Institute of Advanced Conservative Studies, serving humanity simply by showing up, and he’s not retiring until every American agrees with him, do NOT doubt him, with shrieks of joy at the mere mention of his name...

So this is fishy. WMAL’s Mary Katharine Ham has dropped off the airwaves. According to a letter she posted on her personal blog dated today, she’s elated not to have to wake up so obscenely early. She delicately explains why she and the station are parting ways: “If you’re a regular listener, you may have noticed I wasn’t on the radio this morning on 105.9 FM WMAL, where I’m wont to be from 5-9 a.m. Alas, I won’t be there anymore, which means I didn’t have to get up at 3 a.m. today (Yay!), but also that I will miss...

Rep. Allen West (R-FL) gave an interview to Washington D.C. radio station WMAL on Friday, in which the shy and retiring former Army colonel quietly expressed a few mild criticisms of the Obama Administration’s recently announced military cuts. Also, he’s just the tiniest bit displeased with the way both House and Senate Republican leaders handled the “payroll tax cut” drama at the end of the year. The hosts really had to work to bring Rep. West out of his shell...

Good show on Tuesday 22 November. Andy was planning to be at the Republican debate that night, so he'll have some commentary and/or blog entries today. The best part of the program was Andy interviewing his "guest", Fred Grandy. For those who might not know, Fred and Andy were canned from WMAL for daring to raise the topic of CAIR and criticizing radical Muslims. Andy then found a home on competitor WTNT and does the 3-6 drive home slot. In this "interview" it almost sounded like the old WMAL program - very entertaining! You can download the podcast of yesterday's...

630 WMAL's "Pet Liberal" Jerry Klein, often partnered with our main guy Chris Plante on the radio, has been battling cancer of the esophagus for many months now. His wife of many years, Lois, unexpectedly passed away yesterday morning (Monday, 11/7). Please keep Jerry in your prayers as this is a most difficult time in his life. For those of you who wish to send him a Sympathy Card, please do so at: Jerry Klein 630 WMAL 4400 Jenifer Street, NW Washington, DC 20015 Thanks to all... Silvie

Mark Weaver WMAL.com WASHINGTON -- If you call a radio talk show and get on the air, you might be recorded by the FBI. The FBI has awarded a $524,927 contract to a Virginia company to record as much radio news and talk programming as it can find on the Internet. The FBI says it is not playing big brother by policing the airwaves, but rather seeking access to what airs as potential evidence. "This doesn't give us any enhanced capability, prying into or any 'big brother' concerns because this is information that's being put out on the airwaves," FBI...

The first change from the combined Cumulus and Citadel looks to be taking place Monday in Washington, DC. Both morning co-host Mike O’Meara and afternoon host Cerphe Colwell, at Classic Rock “105.9 The Edge” WVRX have posted on Facebook that they and the rest of the staff have been let go and that the station will be flipping on Monday. Most speculation revolves around the station flipping to a simulcast of sister News/Talk 630 WMAL. While that makes the most sense, nothing has been confirmed so far.

Original Title: WMAL EXCLUSIVE: LISTEN - Obama's New Rule For Political Civility. WASHINGTON -- A top aide to President Obama says Americans must decide for themselves how to be civil with each other -- a rather sharp departure from comments that Obama has himself made in the past. In an interview with the WMAL Morning Majority Wednesday, White House Communications Director Dan Pfieffer said the Obama administration is not going to be drawn into the "gotcha game" of reacting to comments made by Teamsters President James Hoffa, Jr. At a Labor Day rally in Detroit, Hoffa urged the President to...

A familiar voice is back. Veteran radio host and newsman Andy Parks will return to the Washington airwaves with an afternoon program that combines his inimitable personality with a powerful news source and established media brand. “Andy Parks Live From The Washington Times” debuts Aug. 22 from a studio overlooking the newsroom of The Washington Times. The afternoon drive-time show from 3 to 6 p.m. will be heard on Metro Radio Inc. stations WTNT-AM (730) and WKDL-AM (1250), and streamed live on washingtontimes.com and 730wtnt.com.

The longtime host of "Grandy & Andy" on Washington, DC's WMAL-AM (630) left the news/talk station in March 2010, ending his 25-year partnership with former Iowa Rep. Fred Grandy after the station decided to go in a different direction in mornings. Parks, a well-known airborne traffic reporter before becoming the morning show co-host, has been off the air since his departure from the Citadel-owned station. Parks will now be heading across town in the Nation's Capital, joining WTNT-AM (730) for afternoon drive, becoming the host of his own show that will include Washington Times Columnists Jeff Kuhner and Jennifer Harper....

FAIRFAX, Va. -- Resort-style swimming pools with fountains and heated spas, billiards rooms, granite counter tops, ceramic tile, indoor basketball courts, stainless steel appliances -- many Fairfax County taxpayers cannot afford such luxuries. But they are paying for these amenities for use by low-income residents who live in subsidized housing in affluent neighborhoods. "They're a part of our rental program where we subsidize the rents for the individuals in the units, and we end up having to pick up the condo fees," supervisor Pat Herrity told 630 WMAL News. Herrity does not advocate putting low-income residents in "ghetto-style" housing but...

Chris Plante grew up in the media business, the third generation of his family to cover news, and spent 17 years at CNN as a producer. But it wasn’t until 2005 that Plante found his voice. Since then he has hosted one of the top-rated talk shows in Washington, on WMAL radio, in the hours preceding Rush Limbaugh. Plante is above all spectacularly articulate, the sort of person who could do 30 minutes on his views of the Constitution, without pausing, seconds after being roused from a dead sleep. The Daily Caller’s Ginni Thomas sat down with Plante recently and...

I'm flabbergasted to hear people I normally agree with be so optimistic about the current upheaval. I am actually shouting at my television. I am watching Fox News Sunday, and politicians and pundits with whom I normally agree — Newt Gingrich, John McCain, Joe Lieberman, and Bill Kristol — are all making me crazy with their advice on Libya. Each seems to believe that success in America’s latest foreign adventure is predicated on taking out Moammar Gaddafi, and they are all blaming President Obama and Secretary Robert Gates for failing to grasp the obvious. So now I’m yelling: “Guys, the...

For most of the last decade, my husband, Fred Grandy, has earned his living as a news/talk morning radio host in Washington, D.C. For most of the last year, he has hosted The Grandy Group, a morning drive-time show covering politics, foreign policy, and pop culture, along with the usual regional and local stories that make up any given day’s news. (snip) Then I joined the show. Under the pseudonym of Mrs. Fred, I began harmlessly enough. I would show up every Friday at 8 a.m. and talk family and domestic stuff: raising a daughter in college, road rage in...

"Mrs. Fred" delivers a rousing and disturbing, salient analysis of the Muslim Mafia in the U.S., with Obama as the not-so-stealth head of the not-so-stealth snake: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FeR2o-lZ_9k&feature=player_embedded

Washington, D.C. radio station WMAL is once again being accused of firing a popular talk show host because of his criticism of radical Muslims. The station, a major source of news and information for the nation’s capital, claims that popular morning host Fred Grandy resigned on his own, but Grandy tells AIM that he was essentially forced to leave after his wife, who is also outspoken about radical Islam, was cut from the program...........

Statement from WMAL regarding Fred Grandy - March 5, 2010 WMAL did not terminate Fred Grandy's employment, and never had any intention to do so. Fred informed us on March 2 of his intention to resign from the station. To be clear, at no time has WMAL told Fred that he was not allowed to discuss his views on Islam over the air. In fact, he has done so on numerous occasions. Further, WMAL has not been contacted by any organization seeking to restrict his broadcasts. Bryan Nehman continues to anchor our morning program and in the interim will be...
