Call it a "good news/ bad news" scenario for David E. Kelley. NBC has rejected Kelley's much-hyped revival of "Wonder Woman," but is expected to renew "Harry's Law," his new series starring Kathy Bates which premiered last fall.
-
Not long ago, NBC released the first official image of Adrianne Palicki as Wonder Woman. David E. Kelley (of 'Doogie Howser' fame) wrote the pilot, and though it's not guaranteed to survive past the pilot stage, fans of the DC superhero are just excited to see someone finally doing something with the character, instead of more mindless chatter about some mysterious script maybe being written. Problems quickly arose, however, when pretty much everyone immediately crapped all over the new Wonder Woman look, saying the costume was too shiny, looked more like a Sexy Wonder Woman Halloween costume than a legit,...

Red alert! Or should we say blue? EW has obtained an exclusive first look of Adrianne Palicki as Wonder Woman — aka Diana Prince — from NBC’s reboot of the classic 1970s series.

Another actress has thrown her hat into the ring for the chance to play Wonder Woman—and she's certain she would be great for the job. 31-year-old Lake Bell, who can currently be seen in the romantic comedy No Strings Attached, told E! Online, "On my lists of things to do in my life—I mean, I campaign for it—is, I just want to play a superhero at some point."

#16 Forbes PowerWoman Sarah Palin will be immortalized in comic strip form for the second time this winter by Bluewater Productions. Bluewater Productions made headlines in 2008 when its Sarah Palin biography comic sold out. Now Palin is returning to Bluewater with a sequel. Female Force: Sarah Palin, Act 2 focuses on Palin’s life after the 2008 presidential elections. The book examines the reasons behind Palin’s increasing celebrity, and the threat that she might pose to both Democrats and mainstream Republicans should she decide to run in 2012. “You can’t help but admire Sarah Palin for her tenacity and...

According to Deadline, Wonder Woman is making a comeback to T.V. David E. Kelly will be producing and writing the new series. Some of us women remember watching the most famous superhero in the universe, twirl into one hot colorful outfit, sending the feminist message of total girl power. Linda Jean Córdova Carter the daughter of a Mexican immigrant mother and Irish father played the role of this kick ass Amazon woman.

WASHINGTON — The actress who played Wonder Woman on TV in the 1970s has deflected a charge that she allowed her dog's barking to disturb neighbors in an upscale Maryland community outside Washington. A Montgomery County District Court judge found Lynda Carter Altman not guilty last week of the municipal infraction....

Wonder Woman got a makeover, but she's still behind the curves. Her designers seem not to realize that for decades women have been in the ascendancy in the marketplace, and it's male action heroes who require a makeover, literally and figuratively. Exceptions still rule the imaginations of children, but in the world where most grown-ups live, the male sex seems to need a Wonder Man to idealize possibilities. Or to put it bluntly, woman is the new man. For the first time, women make up the majority of the workforce. Women dominate the numbers in undergraduate education and in professional...

Once, back in the 1960s and 1970s, multiculturalism and globalization seemed like the best way forward. How could one culture, one country, speak for the entire world? Why not absorb and embrace all cultures, many cultures? Or so we thought back in the day. But back in the 1940s, no one challenged the fact that the amazing Amazon comic book figure, Wonder Woman, (Diana Prince), was an American girl. Wonder Woman’s costume was red, white, and blue, the colors of the American flag. America’s golden eagle was emblazoned on her bodice William Moulton-Marston, her creator, was a psychologist who portrayed...

Wonder Woman may have finally been given a pair of pants, but has she been stripped of her patriotism? The new and allegedly improved Wonder Woman (a.k.a Diana Prince), has been given a head-to-toe makeover by artist Jim Lee, replacing her signature American flag decorated briefs with skintight black pants and purging the super hero of all her trappings of Americana. Wonder Woman’s original red, white and blue costume, which practically screams America through its stars and stripes covered bodice and belly, was a product of World War II-inspired patriotism, explains Charlie Jane Anders, Managing Editor of io9, Gawker Media’s...

Wonder Woman has a bold new look, one of the most dramatic changes of her 70-year history. Criticized for years for fighting crime in effectively a one-piece swimsuit — often considered either sexist or simply impractical — the DC Comics icon has a new costume as of this week's Wonder Woman #600, and it's one considerably less revealing, complete with long pants and a jacket. Signature elements such as the character's bracelets, tiara and magic lasso remain. The costume was designed by acclaimed penciler and DC Comics co-publisher Jim Lee. DC Comics announced the change Tuesday evening. "It’s a look...

(CNSNews.com) - Actress Lynda Carter, best known for her role as Wonder Woman on television, said that while there always is a loyal opposition to the party in power, the political “right wing” in America is “spreading hate.” Carter, who spoke with CNSNews.com at an event to raise awareness about mental illness, also said “it’s pathetic that we don’t do more” for the homeless in America. “You know, the last eight years I was the loyal opposition and now there’s another loyal opposition,” Carter told CNSNews.com at the Green Door gala. “The only problem I really have is the spreading...

EXCERPT: (Got to read the whole thinng -- hilariouw -- one of our best!!)This started off as two completely different stories, but a third story popped up during our research that magically tied all three stories together into one mega-blockbuster piece of investigative reportage. Story Number One: Beyonce claims that Michelle Obama approached her during an inauguration celebration just to say that the singer was a role model for her little girls. Story Number Two: A story in the Huffington Post compares Michelle Obama to Wonder Woman. Neither of those stories seemed strong enough to merit our attention. Goofy enough,...

In an interview this morning about her three-week run at an Atlantic City casino, I offhandedly asked “Wonder Woman” Lynda Carter how she felt about the media calling VP candidate Sarah Palin the “new Wonder Woman.” I wasn’t expecting her no-holds-barred response: Don’t get me started. She’s the anti-Wonder Woman. She’s judgmental and dictatorial, telling people how they’ve got to live their lives. And a superior religious self-righteousness … that’s just not what Wonder Woman is about. Hillary Clinton is a lot more like Wonder Woman than Mrs. Palin. She did it all, didn’t she? No one has the right...

When your humble correspondent first watched Sarah Palin introduced to the public by John McCain as his vice-presidential pick, he had an eerie sense of familiarity. Yes, I couldn't quite recall why Sarah Palin looked so familiar until my DUmmie FUnnies co-host, Charles Henrickson, pointed out the astounding likeness between Palin and Diana Prince/Wonder Woman. It was an "aha!" moment. Suddenly I knew why Palin seemed so familiar. She looks just like Wonder Woman in her secret identity as Diana Prince. And it turns out that Henrickson wasn't the only one making that connection. Both in the media and in...

POLITICS AS USUAL I've spent that past several years trying to stay away from politics. Sure, I pay attention to the news, and I'm interested in what's going on in my country, but to be very honest, the deepest and most powerful problems in my country, the United States of America, are not going to be solved by politicians in Washington, no matter who they are or what they say. Hence I really don't care that much about what politicians say or do, for is seems that all they really do is make a good situation bad, and a bad...

Wonder Woman is still fighting crime, after all these years. Lynda Carter, 56, who played the superhero on TV, discovered the dead body of a woman floating in the Potomac River while canoeing Thursday. The actress flagged down nearby boaters and they called rescuers, who pulled the body from the river, a spokesman for the Washington D.C. Fire Department said.

Iran is seeking to create a paradise for female tourists by turning an island on a northwestern lake into male-free zone, the press reported on Wednesday. All public transport, restaurants and facilities on the island -- on the gigantic Oroumiyeh lake close to the Turkish border -- will be staffed only by women, officials said. "The island of Arezou (Wish), one of the 102 islands in the Oroumiyeh Lake, will be equipped especially for women," a municipal official in the West Azerbaijan province, identified only as Aghai, was quoted as saying by the Tehran Emrouz newspaper. "There will be no...

Hollywood is an odd world and a cruel one at that as Joss Whedon has revealed on his blog that he is officially off the Wonder Woman project in all capacities, writing and directing. Only days ago it was announced that Warner Bros. had just picked up a new script from virgin writers Matthew Jennison and Brent Strickland and it was said that they were just picking up the script to ensure there was no competition from other studios. Well, it seems that might not be all there was to it even though producer Joel Silver says he didn't plan...

Lohan the One for WONDER WOMAN? Thursday March 23 10:45 AM ET By Mark Umbach, FilmStew.com Although no talks have even begun, Lindsay Lohan thinks playing the role of Wonder Woman in the upcoming feature would be "cool." Everybody is wondering which woman will be Wonder Woman. If it were up to starlet Lindsay Lohan, she says she'd take the pilot's seat in the invisible jet in a heartbeat. Buffy the Vampire Slayer vet Joss Whedon is currently developing a feature film based on the comic book superheroine for Warner Bros. Pictures. While Lohan admits that she's currently looking for...

Watertown native Eliza Dushku delighted fans yesterday when she said there was a Joss Whedon character she'd like to reprise even more than Faith, the action hero she played in TV's "Buffy the Vampire Slayer'' and "Angel.'' "I hear Joss is doing this little movie called 'Wonder Woman.' If he wants to call me up for that, I'd throw on the boots and the suit. I'd do that,'' Dushku said. The 24-year-old actress already was wonderful in the eyes of thousands who turned up at Wizard World Boston, a pop-culture convention making its first-ever visit to the Hub. Fans waited...

The transgender sportscaster wears a miniskirt, the porn is gay, lesbian and bisexual, and Wonder Woman will be on every night at seven. France's first gay television channel, PinkTV, is an eye-opener. And that's the point. Pink's founders believe there's a ready audience for the channel, and not just among France's estimated 3.5 million gays. Pink's "a giant leap for television, a small step in high heels," said presenter Eric Gueho in a promotional clip shown at the channel's unveiling Tuesday, which was feted with pink champagne. "Gays are speaking to the French. But not all French speak to gays....

I thought I would create a harmless post and ask if any of you watch Justice League on the Cartoon Channel? I usually watch it with my grandsons. Last nights episode dealt with the villians using mind control to manipulate the heros feelings towards one another, causing the JL to break up. As usual, as the end, the heroes unite and kick arse. I like a couple things about the episode. At the end, one of the villians goes to punch Batman when Superman appears and stops him. After Batman ties up the villian he begins to say that he...

It was only a matter of time, I suppose. Comic-book superheroes have gone into the liberal political indoctrination business. The September issue of the DC Comics book "Justice League of America," or "JLA," presents Superman, Batman and Wonder Woman as U.N.-promoting paper dolls for a thinly disguised propaganda play against President Bush's war on Saddam Hussein. The story begins with a "napalmetto" attack on home soil. President Lex Luthor -- how nice, a supervillain standing in for President Bush -- connects the terror attack to "Qurac" and says the "Joint Chiefs are recommending military pressure." Wonder Woman protests: "International law and...

Okay, for any who have seen my opinions in the past, you know that I'm an avid comic book collector. For a few years now, my favorite title has been Justice League, or JLA for short. The newest issue, #83, came out yesterday. It was, without a doubt, the most unvarnished left-wing piece of Bush-bashing propaganda I've ever seen. The baisc set-up is this (*WARNING*--SPOILERS)...President Luthor (yes, in the DC Universe, Lex Luthor is President of the United States) has decided that the nation of "Qurac" has acquired or constructed Weapons of Mass Distruction, and has decided that he must...
