WRENTHAM — Just a week after the nation celebrated its birthday, residents of the Garden Lane public housing complex are being told they can no longer display their patriotism by hanging U.S. flags outside their homes. Tenants of the complex, operated near the center of town by the Wrentham Housing Authority, were notified of the new policy through a letter taped to their doors sometime Wednesday afternoon. The letter, which is unsigned but is on housing authority letterhead, says the move was made after a tenant repeatedly complained to the state Department of Housing and Community Development over the July...

A district attorney's investigation has found there was no evidence a local police officer posted unflattering and threatening remarks about a selectman on an Internet blog, and now the police union is demanding the resignation of Selectwoman Jennifer Firth for pointing the finger in their direction. Saying the police department's reputation was tarnished, the police union demanded Wednesday that Firth resign for alleging at a Feb. 6 selectmen's meeting that a town police officer threatened online to kill a selectman two years ago. The Norfolk County District Attorney's Office found no evidence after a two-week investigation that the freerepublic.com blog...

WRENTHAM - Police Chief Joseph Collamati has asked Norfolk County District Attorney William Keating to investigate allegations a town police officer may have posted information on an Internet blog critical of selectmen. Collamati said Thursday the allegations, discussed in open session by selectmen at the end of their meeting Tuesday night, "demeans the reputation of everybody here" in the police department. The police chief wants the district attorney's office to conduct an independent investigation. "Quite frankly, I was a little disturbed by the allegations. I don't think they're true," Collamati said. "The officers of the Wrentham police department feel their...
