A traveler trying to bring four yak skulls back from Tibet was stopped at Sea-Tac Airport by a dog who smelled something funny. The traveler told Customs and Border Protection agriculture specialists he found two of the skulls while hiking and bought two more at a village store. Two of the skulls still had dried flesh attached. They were in a duffel bag that drew the attention of a federal beagle named Woody. After the alert from Woody on April 30, the man declared he had the souvenir skulls, so he won't be prosecuted.

/begin my translation N. Korea: Why Importing Camels? (Beijing Reuters = Yonhap News) A report surfaced recently, which says that N. Korea imported camels and yaks, prompting speculation over what the wild animals are for. According to a Feb. 19th dispatch by China's Xinhua agency, a zoo located in Dairen, Liaoliang Province recently exported two yaks, a kind of wild buffalo, and four camels to N. Korea. It briefly mentioned, "This is the first time these wild animals are exported to N. Korea from Dairen or Liaoling Province in general." It did now spell out where in N. Korea they...

Of all the yaks lumbering around Edelweiss Farms, No. 49 was never going to win the Miss Congeniality award. She could often be seen walking alone, away from the herd. Her farmer, Dirk Milz, described her as having an "I'm the yak and this is it" mentality. She was the yak who took no flak. "You need two eyes on her," Milz said. Even so, no signs indicated she was capable of trouble -- until a baby yak named No. 85 came along. What came next is believed to be the first yak attack in Garden State history. It unfolded...

Something To Yak About - Democrat Pre-Election Lawsuits Calculated Political StrategyWith Democrat lawyers and their Left Wing allies taking legal action across the country in advance of the November 2 election, a question over provisional ballots is looming large. The Wall Street Journal Friday warns that Democrats may try to use the provisional ballot process, which is available to those who don't meet the standard (not registered, no ID, etc) to affect the outcome of the election. So how does that play out? According to the WSJ, "Someone could now presumably cast provisional votes in several Ohio precincts on Election...

Authorities say it appears a hole was smashed through the wall from an adjacent office and cash was taken. Something to Yak About - Kerry's Support For The ICC John Kerry has been attacking the president over his remarks last week about the senator's support for the International Criminal Court. But the criticism seems to be at odds with the facts. The Boston Globe Tuesday reports Kerry told the left-wing group Peace Action, "I support US participation in the International Criminal Court," further telling The Globe in a written statement, "I will not continue the obsessive and self-defeating campaign President Bush has waged against the ICC and the close American allies that support it." Something to Yak About - The Mother of All Flip-Flops, Part Deux Why is John Kerry seemingly unable to stop himself from flopping all over the place on Iraq and Saddam Hussein? The Gentleman from Massachusetts did it again on Tuesday, saying at a Florida news conference that Americans and Iraqis are less secure with Saddam Hussein in jail, and his torture chambers and rape rooms shut down. Good Point, Ken The same...
  • Al Gore Comes to Kerry’s Aid

Something to Yak About – Al Gore Comes to Kerry’s Aid So Al Gore is giving fellow traveler John Kerry a boost today with a speech at Georgetown University Law Center on “institutionalized dishonesty,” in foreign policy. Hmmmmm….. Whether John Kerry’s bagman will give an encore performance of his unhinged rant at a recent Move On Dot Org speech remains to be seen, but what is clear is the less-than-honest approach taken by the Gentleman from Massachusetts in his own foreign policy positions. The Kerry-Gore Double StandardAl Gore and other John Kerry acolytes love to beat up the president on...
  • John Kerry’s Priceless Weekend

Something to Yak About – John Kerry’s Priceless WeekendLeave it to a Limousine Liberal to fly around the country in a red, white and blue jetliner preaching about how to help the less fortunate, followed by hang time on Nantucket Island this weekend. If this sounds too wack to be real, you haven’t been keeping up with the John Kerry campaign. Between hob-knobbing with Ted Kennedy, buying parts to fix a flat on his $8,000 bicycle and losing the sick wind for some gnarly kite surfing (bummer, dude…), it’s kind of hard to take the Gentleman from Massachusetts seriously when...
  • Kerry Bets on Pessimism

Something to Yak About – Kerry Bets on PessimismIt has got to be a total drag to be running for office – any office – and be forced to campaign on what you hope will be the other guy’s problems. That’s pretty much what John Kerry’s been doing in his bid for the White House, shifting gears recently from simple anger to outright pessimism. While the economy roars along with all 8 cylinders firing on the job front, John Kerry’s sad demeanor invokes the Great Depression. Depression? Maybe in the Kerry campaign, but not the economy. Economic Growth Results in...

Something to Yak About – Kerry Backers UnhingedJust when you think John Kerry’s core supporters can’t get any wackier, they do. At the left wing confab called the Take Back America Conference, billionaire lefty George Soros compared the Iraqi prisoner abuse controversy with the terrorist attacks of 9/11! “The picture of torture in Saddam's prison was a moment of truth for us," Soros said at Thursday’s TBA session in Washington, DC. "I think that those pictures hit us the same way as the terrorist attack itself.” ‘Outrageous’ Soros Comments Blasted by RNC Chief Upon hearing the remarks of George Soros...

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Something to Yak About – Democrat WackadoosSaying that John Kerry’s advisers were “surprised and annoyed” over Al Gore’s hollering rant at a Move On Dot Org meeting in New York Wednesday, columnist Maureen Dowd writes, “They don't want voters to be reminded of the wackadoo wing of the Democratic Party.” But maybe it’s too late for that. Gore’s bellicose rage prompted Dowd to note that Gore “made Howard Dean look like George Pataki.” Ouch!Gore Plays to Bad Reviews in TennesseeHow is Al Gore’s speech playing for the folks back home? Fun words like ‘vein-popping’ and ‘bombastic’ peppered...

Something to Yak About – AP Needs Math Classes The Associated Press has undertaken a weird ‘less equals more’ style of wordsmithing in its reporting on global terrorism. The AP somehow came to the bizarre conclusion that fewer terrorists means their ranks are swelling. A May 26 dispatch reporting an estimated 18,000 potential terrorists around the world notes a few hundred words deep that the current number is derived from Clinton-era estimates of 20,000 bad guys minus 2,000 killed or captured since George Bush took the War on Terror to the perpetrators of terrorism. So according to the AP’s new...

Something to Yak About – Al Gore, Film Critic Former Clinton veep Al Gore seems to have found a couple of new pastimes to while away his idle hours; reviewing wacky disaster flicks and pounding Republicans. After heaping praise on the movie The Day After Tomorrow, a cinematic tour de force on preposterous ‘global warming’ nonsense, Gore said Tuesday that we humans are “conducting an uncontrolled experiment” on the planet and warned of possible catastrophe. Egad… dial it down a notch… Al Gore, Policy CriticWhen Al Gore isn’t reviewing crazy disaster movies, he’s reviewing government policy. Seems Gore has teamed...

Something to Yak About – What Media Bias? Many in the Establishment Media vociferously deny the presence of liberal media bias in the press. But lo! A fresh study from the Pew Research Center shows that among their sample of working newshounds at national print, TV and radio news shops, 34% of those surveyed identified themselves as ‘liberal,” while 7% identified themselves as ‘conservative.’ For those who scoff that a bare third in the media consider themselves liberal, only 20% of the general public considers itself liberal, while 33% of Americans identify themselves as conservative. The Proof is In The...

Something to Yak About: Kerry Camp Backspins From Petty Bicycle RemarkTalk about just plain petty. Upon hearing that President Bush took a spill while mountain biking in Texas, John Kerry asked a bunch or reporters with TV cameras whirring, “Did the training wheels fall off?” Now, Kerry campaign flack Stephanie Cutter is back-spinning, telling The Washington Times that the smarmy wisecrack was supposed to be off-the-record. For those who missed the initial incident, the president’s mishap took place near the end of a 17-mile mountain bike ride around his ranch Saturday. He’s okay. Did Kerry Want Convention Nomination Before Declining...

Something to Yak About: The Great Iowa DeceptionJohn Kerry has managed to gin up plenty of Iowa ink with his ‘Benedict Arnold’ line regarding the outsourcing of jobs. As early as November 2003, Kerry was regaling Iowans with stories of ‘Benedict Arnold CEOs and companies’ shipping jobs overseas. But guess what? John Kerry says one thing in Des Moines but utters the exact opposite in Manhattan! Read on. Kerry’s Inner ‘Benedict Arnold’? Is it possible for one to be one’s own Benedict Arnold? That’s the philosophical underpinning of today’s Yak following John Kerry’s latest flip-flop, to wit, the outsourcing of...
