Democratic presidential nominee Barack Obama said Sunday he will tap his huge political network of donors and volunteers to help U.S. victims of Hurricane Gustav after it comes inland. "I think we can get tons of volunteers to travel down there, if it becomes necessary," Obama told reporters after attending St. Luke's Lutheran Church in Lima, Ohio.

Source: University of Washington Date: August 30, 2007 ZIP Codes And Property Values Predict Obesity Rates Science Daily — Neighborhood property values predict local obesity rates better than education or incomes, according to a study from the University of Washington being published online recently by the journal Social Science and Medicine. For each additional $100,000 in the median price of homes, UW researchers found, obesity rates in a given ZIP code dropped by 2 percent. The study, based on analyses of responses to a telephone survey conducted in King County by the local health department and the federal Centers for...

I am in the process of updating my Philips DVD recorder and well I must ask for some help.I have a brand new Dell with XP so I should have all that is hopefully necessary to download a zip. I am basically stuck on "File System CD-ROM ISO Level 2". Any help is appreciated as I know there are alot more knowledgeable people her than me. 1 Download the firmware zipfile from internet. 2 Extract the files by unzipping the zipped file. 3 Write the extracted files – not the zipfile – onto a blank CD-R or CD-RW disc, using...

"I've gotten a lot of email from over the weekend asking me who I think the Plame leaker was if I think it wasn't Rove. I'm sorry to say I can't say until I get a green light to say. But I'm working on it. And, it's not a just wild guess. I could be wrong but my confidence is high." jonahnro@aol.com

Just received this in an e-Mail message: Doc, Another Point about CBS, Zip code 77034 does not have and never has had PO Boxes. The closest Zip code in Houston with PO Boxes is 77032. PO Box 34567 Houston, Texas 77034 never existed in 1972 My company is in the data business and has the history on addresses. Propostional spacing was introduced in 1980 with the Xerox Memorywriter which competed with the IBM Selectric. I wouldn't be so sure IBM didn't have a Times Roman font ball. They definitely didn't have it in proportinnal spacing. I spent 28 years with...

My four year old Dell Pentium-III/450MHz PC has become overwhelmed by multi-tasking (I'm a writer/researcher and typically have 6-8 screens open at a time) and crashes at least once a day. In looking at new PCs I find that they no longer offer built-in Zip drives. This is very bad news as I have perhaps 100 zip disks containing needed and irreplacable material. 1. Can one still buy a new PC with a Zip drive? 2. If not, what is the best way to convert all zipped data to CD format, and what accessories are needed? Thanks.

You probably think your antivirus software can snare corrupt ZIP email attachments. But you'd be dead wrong. Say hello to a newly discovered--and dangerous--quirk in the ZIP file format. When everyone finds out about how this nasty new trait in ZIP file name handling can be exploited, something unseemly is going to hit the fan. Why? Because antivirus scanners can be conned, very simply, by ZIP files with excessively long names. And the code that makes it possible has been copied and incorporated by seemingly every big-name software company under the sun--not to mention its widespread use in security...
